The drive back to East Beach is a little dicey, lots of sand on the road which did freak me out a little bit as my car did fishtail a little. But if you keep driving, you'll finally end up at East Beach. We only wanted to stay for a little while and do a walk so we chose to park in the free parking, which is right at the beginning of the parking lot. The free parking area isn't large, but when we were there, it was fairly empty. It was early on a Sunday morning, and the beach volleyball areas were packed, it looked like it was a league of some kind. The beach itself was deserted, and we walked to the east towards the point of the island. It was the day after July 4, so there was a fair amount of trash on the beach, probably from all the celebrations the night before. But as we were leaving, we saw park workers that were picking up the trash. At the eastern end of the beach, they don't permit swimming, but the beach itself was enjoyable to walk, and we found some nice shells. We also met some nice fishermen, who pulled in a small black tipped shark while we were there. They were fishing directly from the beach, so to be honest, the rest of the week we were a little nervous about being in the water, knowing that those sharks were swimming so close to shore. On our way out of the East Beach area, there are some pull off areas where you could see fisherman. We did pull off in one area to take a photo of the large tankers out on the water, and almost got stuck in the deeper sand, so be careful about that. We were glad we explored this area of the island.

Privacy! Do you a…read morefew streets down you can drive you truck on the beach but it's very crowded and you are like right next to people. This spot is much better in my opinion. You can't drive on the beach but you park literally 10 feet or less from the beach and walk on and guess what? You have privacy. You don't have people right next to each other. This was a much better choice. The beach where you drive on we saw parents that had their kids butt ass naked on the beach. I was like wth. That was very odd. So yeah if you prefer privacy and pretty much having the beach all to yourself I would suggest this spot. We parked. Walked on the beach and enjoyed it for a good three hours. I would also suggest coming at 6/7 because you will get some cloud cover and not get sun burn. We really enjoyed this beach. 3 mints from the beach house we rented.

Parking in designated spots along the road. Not very busy, as there aren't many houses along this stretch of beach. Trash cans are available, but there are no restrooms or showers. It's purely a beach, which is all I'm looking for! So bring an umbrella, a cooler, and some friends and prepare for a relaxing day in the sun.

Our Texas friends had taken us here for a day trip on a Memorial weekend during Covid, and they didn't even know the name of the beach we were at. Actually, arriving at the beach was an adventure in itself. After exploring the Galveston area, we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. The friend we were with decided against driving her vehicle onto the beach. It had rained a lot the previous night, and there were a bunch of pools of water along the beach. We spotted many sedans and suvs getting stuck in the wet sand. Highly recommend driving your 4 wheel drive truck. One of my wife's friends had a Toyota 4 Runner so they made a couple of trips to pick us all up, and take us to the spot on the beach where they had set up our picnic. The ride through all the water, and through all the sand to get to our destination was a fun and rough one! Cool off-road experience!! There were a bunch of folks parked in their vehicles along the water line. Everyone set up for a good time. Vendors selling kites and balloons. There was even an ice cream truck roaming the beach selling ice cream. Very cool seeing families and friends hanging out and having a good time. There are no bathrooms at the beach. Fortunately, one of our friends had brought a pop up pod. One of those useful pop up tents that you can set up to use as a toilet among other things. Do your business inside, and have complete privacy. Beach was beautiful. Water was fine. Sunset was gorgeous. Terrific day trip with amazing friends we had at this beach (whatever the name was).

Tiki Island is a waterfront community of uniquely distinct beach houses situated on streets with…read morePolynesian names such as Lanai, Bora Bora, Lotus and Papeete to name a few. Growing up, I always wanted to visit this island when driving by on my way to the beach in Galveston. I finally did and was not disappointed when I recently vacationed here. You will find it directly off the first exit on I-45 on the way to Galveston (Exit 4). The beach houses are situated on Galveston Bay and only a stones-throw away from the beach. Hop on your golf cart and explore every inch of the island, as there's so much to view. There's a ton of hidden charm; check out the artistically crafted mailboxes! Our beach house was on a canal and had its own boat launch and dock which we fished off of late night and into the early morning. The village has a volunteer fire department, city hall, park and Tiki Island Chapel, an inter-denominational church, which serves the island as a religious center with services every Sunday. I cannot wait to return to Tiki Island, as I consider it Texas best kept secret!

Visited this park on a Tuesday afternoon while I was in vacation in the area. This park had a big…read morekids and little kids area and had plenty to do. My little one enjoyed it a lot. The park was clean and not crowded. Also no big kids or teenagers running around. They also have a big splash pad that cool him down before going back to play . It was really hot that day and there's no shade ANYWHERE in the playground or benches. Only the gazebo outside the playground has shade.

We tried the East beach first but there was flat fee to park. Since it was about to rain I didn't want to pay. We ended up at the beach closest to the pier. There was plenty of hourly pay to park beach street parking. We were able to easily rent 2 chairs and an umbrella. It was a nice relaxing time.

If you come here expecting Florida's clear water, you might miss what makes Galveston special. The water can appear brown at times, but that's due to natural sediment shifting with the tides, not because it's dirty. Once you understand that your whole perspective changes. What I've come to love is the experience. Walking along the Seawall, day or night, there's always something happening. Different energy, different crowds, different moods depending on the season. It never feels the same twice. Galveston's seawall beaches isn't about perfection, it's about presence. And when you meet it that way, it's actually really beautiful.
