I had several quotes and I remember thinking "if Joe's quote is the same or even just a little more I'm going to go with him". Why? You can just tell when someone knows what they're doing; he exuded confidence and talked as someone who could do this in his sleep. It was obvious he had a lot of experience, he even talked about working with the roofer to pre-paint beams that would be more difficult to paint once they were in place. As it turned out the roofer was willing to paint the beams and Joe brought the appropriate paint. He said his guys would start on Friday and be done by the following Wednesday or Thursday. They showed up on Friday and got to work, then came on Saturday as well and had it all done by Tuesday. I was planning on getting a new garage door and front security door, purely for aesthetic reasons, but Joe was able to paint them and make them look brand new. It was time to paint the exterior of our house. As I usually do when considering major projects, I got three quotes for painting. One was from a painter I had used about 10 years ago. Another was a highly rated local painter on Yelp. And then Galvin Custom Painting which I found through the local paper (Acorn). All painters were relatively timely for stopping by and providing an estimate. But it was Joe Galvin who spent the extra time and diligently followed through with questions we had. Originally Joe quoted that work would start 3+ weeks out but I got a text from him a few days after the quote that he could start sooner. We did not want any major shift in paint color so selecting the color for the stucco and trim was relatively straightforward. We agreed on the terms and I Joe and his team were able to start in a few days. All in all, Joe's onsite team led by Alex did a great job. Joe himself stopped by daily to check on progress and quality. As my wife and I were reviewing the daily progress and identifying areas of concern, Joe was already ahead of us by recognizing the same concerns and having his team address them. Painting has gotten quite expensive over the years but we feel we got good value from Joe and his team. He made some excellent recommendations regarding color and an additive to help with repelling water. We are very happy with the final result. We had major water damage from a burst pipe under our slab. We had to do a complete re-pipe of the entire house which required drilling through our exterior stucco and interior dry walls. The patch work left quite a mess which required painting. Joe came out and assessed the damage. He immediately saw that we needed new baseboards, patching, sanding and most importantly, paint that would match the rest of the house. It was obvious that he was very experienced as he went from room to room and pointed out what was needed. He provided a written estimate which was reasonable. He also assured us he would be present to supervise the work. We set up a date and time and his men came right on time. They were very courteous and professional. They proceeded to cover everything that might get paint or dusty. They worked two days non-stop. Joe was there to make sure everything was done perfectly.
