Their selection is just okay. I have (had) two issues with this location. First was the absolute a-hole I had to deal with one day I was in their having a friendly conversation with the other staff member. The guy came across as an elitist with his nose in the air just because he worked at a game store I guess?? (I was applying for PT work...I called him on his shit attitude before I left...I didn't get a call back...haha) My second issue is their prices, but not in the way you might think. Some of their games were outrageously over priced, while some were dirt cheap when they should cost much more. I also came across a game in their bargain bin that they also had locked up in the showcase (same game with two very different price tags). So I guess my issue was their inconsistent pricing. This is a big store with a huge selection of used video games and consoles. They also sell some game/movie type merchandise probably similar to what any other used video game store would. The prices are probably pretty competitive to other used game stores but they surely aren't anywhere near the cheapest place to find games. I have bought a few games here but if the prices were better I would probably shop here more often. read more

I happened to be in the mall yesterday, so I decided to pay Game City another visit to see if they had removed the offending items that I previously described. Unfortunately, Earthbound Zero was still sitting there for $99. The copy of Earthbound they had for $250 was gone. It bothers me to think that a sucker out there got ripped off. I also saw some old favorites in the display case, but the prices were atrocious. $29.99 for a common gem like Super Mario World (no manual, no box)? $39.99 for a copy of Mario is Missing (no manual, no box), a game I enjoyed as a kid, but consider mediocre at best in retrospect. I can't recall exactly, a loose copy of Zombies Ate My Neighbors (again, no manual, no box) was going for $69.99 or $79.99. Please don't quote me, but I can tell you that the price was really unfair when you consider that you can pick up the game for dirt cheap on the Wii virtual console. Yeah, you're paying for a physical copy in store, but even then, the price is unwarranted. There was a different store clerk this time. I didn't bother talking to him about it because the store was super busy at the time. It amazes me that these guys are able to get so much business. Guys, please, please, save yourself your time, money, and many headaches and get your used games from reputable sellers on ebay. I noticed that Game City has several locations across Edmonton. I noticed on their other business pages that they had a lot of filtered reviews. Please take the time to read those filtered reviews, I can promise the majority of those reviewers are not out to lunch. read more

It had been a couple of years since my last trip to Game City Bonnie Doone and I really wanted to love it. They appeared to be carrying more stock since my last visit and the store looks really clean and bright. With that being said however the customer service here absolutely sucks. With two people working and me being the only customer in the store they were still far too busy discussing True Blood to greet me or approach me at the glass case they store their loose DS titles in to see if I was interested in looking at anything. While we are on the topic of loose games they really need a reality check when it comes to their pricing. I have a copy of Sonic Colors for DS that I got from the loose case at Nexwave games that I paid $5.99 for while here at Game city they had the nerve to be asking $14.99 for it. Considering that Sonic Colors was a game I first picked up when I owned my generation 1 DS from Walmart for $19.99 brand new I was really offended by the price here. The only thing worse then that has to be the enormous price difference I encountered while looking at the DS titles that still had boxes. I had been looking at Sonic Chronicles:The Dark Brotherhood at Londonderry Gamecity but was unsure about purchasing it at the time and left it. I ran into it again here at Bonnie Doon and decided while I was there I mine as well grab it from them but wait hold the phone the price difference between the two stores was almost FIFTEEN FREAKING DOLLARS. As a casual gamer, Game City is an okay place to go to for used games. They have a huge selection of various titles from the older generations like Atari and SNES to the more recent PlayStation 3 and 3D3. They also carry a small selection of old/new systems along with accessories as well. Prices are somewhat reasonable, around the $40-50 range, depending on the platform. Good if you are into expanding your collection or have the urge to play some retro games though I found a few titles that you can get new for just a couple dollars more elsewhere. Despite this, if you're really into the classics, then they are worth the cost. read more

HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! My 7 year old son spent his saved allowance on a game that cost $70. Within 1 day the game started skipping and freezing. The next day (2 days after we bought it) we went in with the receipt to the Bonniedoon location and told them the problem. They continued to blame us for the reason it was skipping and absolutely refused to exchange it or return it. I then went to the Millwoods Town Centre location (where the game was originally bought) and they said the same thing. These guys not only have bootlegged games on their shelves and are selling them for ridiculous prices but their exchange policy is flawed big time. When my son was spending his hard earned money on this game they said and i quote " If there are ANy problems with this game, please return it within 7 business days and we will do an exchange or store credit". It sure is a different story when you actually have to do it because their merchandise is SHIT. I am not sure if it will make a difference but I will be making an official complaint to head office (wherever the hell it is...I have been searching for an hour for it) and also to the BBB. i will get my sons $70 back one way or the other. read more

Definitely one of my fave local businesses. The staff are all friendly,helpful and quite knowledgable with a large selection from all systems. Even when it's busy there is someone by to say hi and ask if you need help. read more
