This is a wonderful place to bring the whole family. They have about 12 different trails, all…read moreseparated in different levels of difficulty. The trails are free to enter but they do request for volunteer donation for non members. Different tiers of annul membership available to purchase at main office that comes with some wonderful perks, such as free access to trails and special events. The main office also has some of the exhibition items like insect box and turtle box. Outside the office there's also bird and butterfly cages. We went to the center for our daughter to participate in butterfly feeding event. Upon arrival we found out we had to buy the tickets for one of the two scheduled events. Luckily there were slots available to the second event on the day. The ticket was reasonably cheap, only $8. It also came with an additional bird's exhibition that took place right in front of office deck. All the stuff members were very friendly, informative and interactive. We spent wonderful couple of hours here on beautiful warm summer day.

The directors are always developing new programs and bringing in the latest activities for campers of all ages. One of the newest additions to the camp is the climbing wall and zip line. My kids could not get enough of them. My kids are also huge fans of animals and the fact that Deerkill has a pony, and a couple of friendly alpacas is a great plus. Overall, I would recommend Deerkill to anyone that would like to provide their kids with the opportunity to have summers they will never forget making life long friends along the way. Prior to that we'd been on other photo trips with noted photographers like Ken Rockwell, but NYC Photo Safari offered much more detailed "hands-on" instruction and feedback about our shots. It was a very fulfilling experience and after three hours we had more great shots than we ever got during three days of shooting elsewhere. Since then we've gone on almost all of the safaris; e.g., Iconic NY Parts 1&2, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and Composition Boot Camp. The pictures we captured were good enough that we've printed and sold many of them. Another interesting aspect of these tours is that they attract interesting people from all over the world. A few months ago we completed a recent nighttime 3-1/2 Bridges Tour that involved taking just about every mode of transit NYC has to offer. Again it was a superb time and yielded a bevy of presentation-quality, marketable images.

Each day, the photo sessions started at 12:30 pm and ended approximately 10:30 pm each evening touring every part of Manhattan in every direction. It sounds like alot but each day just flew by. The instructors were incredibly professional and patient. They imparted their vast photographic knowledge, taking their time to explain the composition and reason/purpose of each shot. It was a lot of information and I definitely grow as a photographer. I want give big thank you Zim, who took her time to answer all of my question not matter how insignificant. She help me "think outside the box" to examine some of my preconceived ideas and in a new light (no pun intended...not).
