Good size crowd but still plenty of room and game to easily get to and play. Started off with great service at the front desk, I believe the guys name is Cleary. He was very welcoming. We explained this was our first time in and asked for recomendations. He was very friendly and cordial and explained how everything worked. At the end of the visit we realized he gave great advice that allowed us to fully enjoy our visit. The vibe and ambiance was really good and had the true arcade feel. People were laughing and having lots of fun just like us. There were people enjoying food and drinks and relaxing in groups in the dining area, playing duck pin bowling, video games including guitar hero, playing pinball, skeetball, basketball shoot and football throwing games. I mean there was real fun being had by all including us. Didn't have food but had beer and played pinball and video games. I really like the beer taps because there were a lot of choices and I tried several different ones because you pour as little or as much as you want. I did about six oz pours and tried several ones. We used our AAA discount. Exhibits include a "pet vet," music space, big fire truck, library, exercise room and market. My one critique would be for the market to be better stocked/ restocked periodically. We go to a local museum where the kid's market closes a few times a day for them to "reset." And the wall outlets allow for charging your phone, too! Across the way is the 360 studio that has a children's area with coloring tables and books provided by the Norfolk Public library. The studio also offers a wide variety of fitness classes and events highlighting art, culture and food. I saw not too long ago they hold salsa classes here every Wednesday, so that's something I may pop in for! We paid for a game of the VR experience which came with a choice of 5/6 different scenarios. We chose the prison which was recommended by the worker who was helping us. The controls weren't explained in depth so it was a learning experience. There were multiple times where we stepped out of the circle due to trying to figure out the mechanics. Overall the hour long experience was nice to experience. There wasn't a display for pricing but we were told what the cost would be, I believe pricing should be displayed especially when entertainment is involved. I ended up checking in on the yelp app and got a coupon for doing so which was 15% off I believe. Even with the discount, the total was 80 something which was overpriced for what we got to experience but that's just my opinion. Isn't somewhere I'd run back to experience again but I'm sure kids will enjoy the experience nonetheless.

Our children have yet to take any classes to date, but my daughter may do so in the near future. The Hurrah Players began back in 1984 with humble beginnings in a church basement in Ghent. The founder and Artistic Director Hugh Copeland has led his team of thespians for almost 30 years. It has taken years of work, strategic partners that believed in them and ultimately Town Bank to put them in their beautiful new historic building in 2010. Hurrah now calls the original Old Norfolk Academy Building off of St. Paul's Blvd in Norfolk home sweet home. A few unique items about the building. It's architect is Thomas U. Walter, the same man who was the architect of the U.S. Capitol Dome. Also Edgar Allen Poe gave his very last speech here. A 100 seat Perry theater for smaller productions is located in the building. Lager productions are a few blocks away at The Roper Theater. The purpose of The Hurrah Players is not only educational in nature through classes offered at their home, but an appreciation for the arts and dance is instrumental to their mission. Through stages show big and small, Spring Break camps and Summer camps they full fill this mission. Hurrah staff builds confidence in the children they work with and at the end of the day a quality, affordable product for the paying audience when the curtain goes up. The show that is currently in production is Hurrah for the Holiday and tickets are on sale now.. Performances are Dec 13,14,15 at the Roper. This is an annual show and never disappoints. The kids do a great job and you will be into the Christmas spirit after attending. Even if you are not a thespian, or into theater yourself, I urge you to give a Hurrah show an opportunity to impress you. Most of the actors are children and put blood, sweat and tears into their productions. Despite her lack of interest in becoming an actress, singer, or dancer, she continues to ask to return. These summer camps are taken seriously and are challenging. The aim is for each age group to put on a play for their parents at the end of two weeks, so the teachers are very dedicated. The kids are kept active and engaged from the moment they arrive until they leave. Though it can be intense, it is worthwhile if they stick with it after the first three days. The students learn about every aspect of the stage, including singing, acting, dancing, and stage production. Many of the previous camp attendees have gone on to start their careers on Broadway or television. I have enjoyed all of the end-of-camp performances, but the most recent one in June 2023 was exceptional. The Hurrah Players is amazing, and I highly recommend it for your children, whether they want to attend summer camps or classes throughout the year. They will gain a lot of knowledge and make great friends along the way.
