I went to Cinema Cafe to see the new Conjuring movie with a friend of mine, and I'm officially spoiled! Regular movie theaters just don't compare anymore. This place is dinner and a movie all in one, and they make it so easy with full service right at your seat!! You can purchase tickets and reserve your seat online. Once you check in, you go right to your seat and a waitress comes to you. The menu is surprisingly big for a movie theater. They've got all the classics like mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, wings, nachos, and pretzel bites (which I ordered and loveeed, served with mustard and cheese). If you're looking for something more hefty, there are burgers, wraps, flatbread pizzas, and even salads if you want to keep it lighter. They also have dessert options like sundaes and milkshakes, plus a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. Definitely not your average popcorn and soda movie theatre setup, though they have that too if you're a looking for simple. The recliner seats are a game changer. If I had a pillow and blanket, I would've taken a nap. They're roomy, super comfortable, and make it easy to relax without worrying about bumping elbows with strangers. The server checks in with you during the movie, which makes it feel like a true dine in experience, but they're quick and quiet enough that it doesn't distract from what's happening on screen. The menu was stripped. I've come here for nearly 10 years, and got the same thing every time. My beloved buffalo chicken sandwich. My family has our tried-and-true foods, and they got rid of them; for example, besides my sandwich, they got rid of the gyro. I have never had a buffalo chicken like what they do here; a massive part of why I come is because of the food, which has tanked in variety but also quality. The service is always extraordinary, which is the saving grace of this review. Saints dressed in all black. Anywho, I'm gutted. It's really hard for me to find safe foods, especially when they include meat, so the loss of this entree has me mourning. If you have a favorite meal here, they likely got rid of it to cut costs, I assume. There's no point in coming here unless they've released a phenomenal movie. Nice and clean movie theater. I like that you check in the old fashion way at the check in window. and then they give you an actual ticket. Totally LOVE THIS. The seats are reclining along with your own table for you food and you have a place for your drink on the arm rest. The menu is under your table and you can also scan to see the menu on your phone. Bathrooms where clean The Food was great. My husband and I both think movie food is always a little expensive but it was great. We got the babcon hamburger without cheese and the crinkle fries where PERFECT. If you know me I'm all about the fries. I was happy I got buffalo and ranch to dip my fries in both. Our server was great she brought us plenty of napkins because It can get a bit messy with that much dipping sauce. BUT it is so good. They put the right amount of ice in your soda too. Great location, decent food, reasonably priced way to spend a few hours of your day! We came on a rainy Sunday and it was definitely busy. We ordered our tickets online, in advance, which I recommend doing. We always try to get there a bit early so we can order our food and drinks without interrupting the beginning of the movie. We tried many things off the menu: the appetizer sampler, the queso con chili with chips and the popcorn. The appetizer sampler is definitely a great option for 2 people to share. Loved the mini corn dogs, pretzel bites and chicken tenders, however it would be nice if the plate wasn't 75% chips. Definitely taking the cheap route there. We spent Valentine's Day watching Captain America here, and it was an absolute blast. The vintage car seating gave the place a cool, retro vibe--like something straight out of Agent Carter's era. The recliners? Comfier than Tony Stark's luxury sofas. And the food? Huge portions, delicious, and totally worthy of Thor's appetite. I went for the jumbo margarita, which hit just the right balance between "super-soldier serum" and "pleasant buzz." The only thing that could use an upgrade is the ordering system--maybe something like paper or or online instead of waiters blocking the screen? I had never heard of a cinema Café. I went to see Last Breath with my friend tonight. I loved the ambience of watching a movie and being served dinner. I ordered garlic chicken pizza. It was delicious. I loved how it was prepared and it was so very flavorful. I would definitely order this again or try their other pizza selections. They have remodeled the interior of this cinema cafe and now it has a very modern artistic feel. I have always loved cinema cafe for my children. They offer reasonably priced food and popcorn at price points way lower than their competition. The picture and sound quality is pretty decent and the chairs recline and are comfortable. My experience this visit was overall well I will have to say that my waitress must of been overwhelmed. We had our light set on and she came by we gave her our drink orders and told her we would be ready to order food when she returned. Which she never did even once we turned the light on both our chairs to indicate our need. We actually had to walk up and get another waiter to place our order. Our waitress brought it our rather quick which was great I will say the Philly steak is not very good my bread was chewy and it was not seasoned at all had no flavor really. Disappointed - bought two tickets for my daughter and her friend (rated R but 16 and I approve). Even went up there to ensure there wouldn't be a problem. 2/28/26 12:15 and spoke to the girl at the front desk; she said "How old are they, I have to ask. I said 16. She said Okay, no problem". My wife takes them and drops them off (not driving yet). She calls me - they're not letting her in. My wife goes back up there and says everything I've mentioned and gives her approval as well and they still say no.. My friends and I made a last-minute decision to watch the Barbie movie one evening. I usually go to the Kemps River location as it is closer to where everyone I know lives. However, they were pretty much sold out.. So I found the next closest location and ordered tickets there. Parking was a little difficult and tight. I had to wedge between 2 trucks who parked poorly. You know the type..... We took a restroom break (clean facilities) and headed into the movie. It's easy to find your seat, as there are glowing letters on the end of each row. The sound system is great in the theater and I have no complaints about the picture quality. I ordered the Flash mocktails and cheesy breadsticks. My brother and his boo shared a deluxe nachos, and our friend got a Caramel Brownie Sundae. It took around 30-45 minutes for those to come out, no biggie. My breadsticks were okay tasting. The serving was pretty large, making the price more reasonable. Same with the nachos, it was a giant platter. But the caramel "brownie" sundae our friend got had no brownie. It was a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream for like $9. They eventually gave him 50% off. Later, I wanted to get another drink, so I pressed the service button. Nobody ever came or checked on us for the rest of the visit (1hr+). Unfortunate. Soooo... This is a good place to watch a movie. Honestly, it's probably a good idea to just stick to popcorn and sodas as everything else is kind of outrageously priced. Like $16.99 for some coconut shrimp that probably aren't fresh is kind of crazy. And with the inconsistent service, they probably wont come back to check on you unless you're getting alcohol ($$$$$$). read more

I went to an early viewing of the new Barbie movie. I saw the 6:45 PM show. I'm a big fan of Cinema Cafes. My favorite location is Edinburgh but tickets were sold out. Therefore, I went to this Pembroke location. This was my first time at this location. I purchased my tickets in advance on July 15th for this film on July 20th as seats were getting purchased quickly. My recommendation is to ALWAYS purchase tickets a few days in advance when wanting to see something on opening night... especially for great seating. I ordered a pizza with a water. The pizza was hot & cheesy. It arrived 20 minutes after ordering. Good service. This location was super tiny & in a storefront, but the service was still good and you'll have a nice time. I'd still recommend going to Edinburgh though. My only con is the theater size and struggle to find parking. Regardless, Cinema Cafe exceeds AMC, Regal or any big name theater in my eyes. This was my first experience at a dine in theater and the waitresses were very nice and food was fresh, good, and came out fast! The only gripe would be that the theater itself seems relatively older and the overall feel wasn't super clean, having to dust off our chairs before sitting. My boyfriend ordered the small meat lovers pizza and I ordered the first wives club wrap with boardwalk fries. Both were pretty good and the meat lovers pizza had a good amount of meat, though it was on a thicker side for pizza. Our daiquiris were basically frozen smoothies but we weren't looking for anything strong anyway. Overall, it was a nice pit stop on our vacation! read more

It's been many years ago since I've been to this location. There were no recliners just chairs and tables at the time. That's how long ago it was. However, I went with family to watch a movie over the weekend and had a great time!The seats are all recliners and very spacious lobby area when you walk in. Service was excellent and the food was good. Ordered pepperoni pizza, potato skins, and cheese and nachos to share. Definitely would recommend this movie theater and will be coming back! read more

Came to see DoLittle and we got there before the theater was cleaned so we had to wait a little but thankfully there was some wait area seating. Ticketing takes place outside so if you already bought tickets you can just stroll on in which can be a bit concerning if you're trying to just slideeeeee on it. Once we got in, we were able to easily find our seats. I loved the call button! Went to another cinema cafe and we had to flag folks down, smh. Anywho, the food was good and we enjoyed the movie. Wish the seats were at different heights though because people's head could be in the view of the screening unless they're literally laid all the way back. read more

Cinema Cafe is quite larger than I expected with big comfy seats and reclining chairs. Viewing the most recent spider man here was a treat. Although we managed ordering is a little hard during the actual screening with the lights dim and all. Servers are thorough and friendly. Food service was pretty quick. I couldn't believe all of the negative reviews but then realized they were from years ago. I kept getting free movie coupons in the mail so my family and I decided to go. The remodel looks great. Very spacious and modern. You pay for tickets and reserve your seats at a self check out. There are attendants if you need help. The theaters have comfortable reclining seats. If I had a blanket I might have dozed off. The food has always been great. Large portions and reasonable prices. I've been about 4 times and would recommend to anyone. read more

My family & I visited Pembroke Cinema Cafe today not realizing there is new seating. We thoroughly enjoyed the reclining chairs & sound system. However, with the upgrade were several downgrades I observed that did not make this an enjoyable experience. I have been a long-time patron & have always enjoyed the traditional Cinema Cafe experience. Below were my observations, experience, & recommendations. 1) No self service napkins(which makes sense due to new set up) 2) Staff did not provide napkins 3) Staff did not check on customers throughout the entire movie in order to ask for napkins, place additional orders, etc... 4) No call buttons to call staff in order to ask for napkins, place additional orders, etc... 5) Recommend floor be angled upwards for a more enjoyable stadium style seating experience. Vertically challenged customers or in general cannot see screen well when people arrive late, waitstaff is taking orders or when taller customers sit in front of them wearing tall head buns. Angled/elevated upwards flooring I believe would alleviate objects from being in direct view of the screen. (Now that I'm looking at my pic, it looks like the floor is angled... I guess I'm just really short!!) :/ 6) Electronic version of my 20% off coupon for food was not honored. This is the 21st century. Society is trying to save trees. Others may not have printers. My electronic copy used to be or has been honored at Cinema Cafe's. Part of the reason I visited l today was to use my $5 off $20 coupon that was declined. Extremely upsetting and disappointing. 7) The power went out & movie stopped for less than 5min. Movie was not rewinded which caused a couple of minutes missed with no sound. Very short, but still not good business, IMO. No explanation, apologies, nothing... 8) Purchasing tickets at the window: I was barely able to see the seats selection through the window when we purchased the tickets. I am vertically challenged. Perhaps a paper copy can also be presented to customers versus pointing to a screen where there is window glare. 9) We did not know how the set up was until we sat in our seats. We did not like our seat selection and didn't realize until after the fact. We will know better next time. By the time we were going to ask, the theater was packed. In the past 25+ years, I've always enjoyed patronizing all Cinema Cafe locations especially, Pembroke Meadows. I believe there is definitely room for improvement. UPDATE: I sent the above to manager of Cinema Cafe. He responded immediately addressing every bullet point. Glad they are indeed customer friendly oriented. Lack of service was the waitstaff & not standard operating procedures. Good to know. He agreed w/ seating & I stand corrected. This location did not have call buttons. This is the theater we could stand our menus up. Even if I did, no one came until the very end w/ bill in-hand. Also, there are kiosks inside to purchase tickets & see seat selection better. I did not know this until AFTER purchasing tickets at window. Not posted anywhere. Know better next time. read more

It's been awhile since I've been to this particular location, I honestly thought it had shit down. The first thing that caught my eye was the obvious updates to the place from what I last remembered. The seats have been updated to match the ones at the endinburge location. The theaters themselves are spacious and clean. The wait staff was plentiful and prompt, our order was delivered quickly and hot with no issues. Eat before you go. I get they're trying to do the "drive in movie" thing but the prices are insane for the quality. Hit up literally any nearby restaurant/bar before the movie and get you a small popcorn. Movie tickets are expensive enough! If anything was legit restaurant quality and not some dicey, gonna hurt afterwards I'd say go for it. I've tried the café at 2 different locations and both times, the next day was NOT ok. read more

Haven't been to this location in awhile my husband & I always go to the one in kempsville , so I bought tickets for despicable me 4 for 430 it was raining today and it was a lot of traffic so we couldn't make so I called the location to see if I can get my times changed to a different time the girl on the phone transferred me to the manager, they told me they couldn't change it because the evening price was different which I didn't mind so the girl transferred me to speak to the manager, I don't know if she was having a bad day or something but she got a real snappy attitude, I kept telling her I was fine with the refund & she just had a bad attitude it was her tone of voice like she didn't want to be at work her name is Carla. Anyways we won't be going there anytime soon, ya'll need to hire better people ! I also work in the customer service industry so I understand we all have bad days ! I've probably been to this theater over a dozen time in the past ten years. It changed back to a new release a couple of years ago. It previously was a second run dollar something flick. Location is awesome because it's within minutes from where I live. They are located in the same strip as the Food Lion. Parking is adequate typically. The lot today was clear from debris as was the walk in front of the entry. My son had been wanting to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and we arrived around ten minutes prior. The young man at the window was professional when purchasing tickets. He instructed us where to go and the tix provides the number. I think there are three theaters. We walked to our theater encountering no other staff until we sat down. Cinema Cafe has tables and a small food dessert menu to eat and enjoy your movie. The theater was clean and chairs not occupied were organized neatly. It's always fun to watch people go from seat to seat and figure out where they are most comfortable. That includes my son and I too..ha! A waitress will come by and ask for Thur order. Menus are already on the table. However if you sit them up they know to come to you before, or during the movie. We ordered a large cheese pizza and a small popcorn. Our waitress was courteous and professional and had dupe sized waters glasses out quickly. The cups are large to reduce refills during the movie, but they are free. It would be nice to have straws that are longer. The current ones do not rise over the top obviously making it necessary to lift it each drink. Our popcorn was out quickly and was hot. It comes with a side container of butter which got all pored on. It ended up being a bit too much, but tasty nonetheless. Just as we finished the popcorn, possibly 20 minutes in the pizza arrived and was correct and fresh out of the oven. The only probably was it sucked! I do mean SUCKED! My son thought it was just ok and later said he agreed it was not great. Our sever never checked in on us again until we stopped eating it and it was awkward to say there is a problem in the middle of the movie. She did provide water refills upon request. I like the fact Cinema Cafe limits their trailers so you can get right to the movie. No technical issues with its play and I would recommend this flick. Upon exiting the staff is lined up outside the door to clean. What I really was impressed at is they all smiled and said goodbye...everyone of them. This was first class and unexpected. I will return again, but will never order their pizza. I hope that they change it up because my recollection was that it used to be pretty decent. A 3.5, but the pizza failure is something I can't get over when I had to set through a two hour movie hungry and ticked at the poor quality. read more

I came here and met some friends on a late Saturday night. This particular location is pretty small compared to others, though I know it's a lot older than most. There was plenty of parking. The facility was clean. We used our cards to pick out our tickets. The theater we were in was pretty large and our server came just as soon as we sat down. I ordered the pretzel bites with cheese and my other friend ordered the pizza. She had a coupon so she used it and was able to get her pizza free.
