Arrived at 10:00 pm, lights were on, door was locked. We went around back all of a sudden lights turned off and people went to hide. Boo.

Okay. You have to have a realistic viewpoint here. We're not in Southern California and we're not…read morein Florida. This is Salem Oregon. Parking is easy. The staff is very friendly. And the food options weren't terrible! I brought some of my own snacks and that didn't seem to be an issue. It's always nice to be able to plan for things in case the kids are picky about what might be available. Some of the pros: good options for rides for little kids, and the majority of the rides and experiences aren't really scary. Cons: entrance ticket fees are quite high, and the older part of the property is on a major slope. Be prepared to traverse hills and take your time. Our favorite part of the visit was the long slide that starts with entering a covered tunnel over the main walkway. I think my child did it about 20 times! I also thought the bumper boats were really cool and the gift shops had some pretty nice options. It was fun to experience this place, but I don't know that I'd ever become a regular. I think the perfect window for kids would be ages 4-7. Probably best not to use a stroller given the slope of the property and any kid over age 7 might not be as well entertained by the whimsical nature of the experience. Overall, worth a visit! Plan to stay for a while to make the cost worth through a while and definitely bring your own food since the options are pretty limited and it seems acceptable to engage in that practice. Cheers!

Large parking lot and the front entrance had stairs which was weird to navigate your bowling ball bags. Looks like it has a fun arcade game room area for the kiddos. Full bar avail and snack bar. The bathrooms were in need of a deep cleaning.

One never knows how events like this will go, especially on busy Saturday afternoons. But the manager and associates handled all of the logistics related to our birthday party with ease. At first glance, the bowling alley has a real old school vibe; almost everyone has stepped foot in a bowling alley like this before. The lockers, the benches for putting on shoes, the seat configuration around the lanes, the concessions, the signage... it all evokes a strong sense of nostalgia. But AMF has done a great job maintaining high standards when it comes to technology of the lanes, equipment, and arcade. Everything runs smoothly here. The staff were extremely helpful in setting up the seating area for my friend's party, including timing food delivery with our game play, helping with our cake, and managing cleanup when the time came. I think they even threw in a few extra guest cards for the arcade! Even though AMF Firebird Lanes is part of a large network of over 350 bowling alleys across the country, the management and staff at this location help create a strong sense of community. I don't bowl much, but if anyone ever asks me about party venues in Salem, I'll be sure to mention this place. Nice work, folks!
