I've ben shopping here a long time, pretty much since I first got into Magic: The Gathering almost ten years ago. I've been a gamer my whole life, since my entire family plays Dungeons and Dragons, and it is wonderful to have a place like this that serves so many gaming needs. I'm not into Magic anymore, but as my taste in roleplaying, card, and board games have changed, this store has been here to help me with that. Whether buying a copy of something new, like a Vampire: The Requiem suppliment, or something from the last decade, like Werewolf: The Apocolypse Mind's Eye Theatre, or even something old and hard to find, like Marvel Superheroes Ultimate Powers book, this store either has what I am looking for, or knows where to find it. The staff are very friendly, open, and willing to help, while fellow customers are often willing to share a good gaming story or tidbit of knowledge. I would reccomend this store to pretty much anyone who's ever played a board game, trading card game, pen-and-paper game, or pretty much any kind of game, there's something here that will catch your attention. If you don't enjoy a visit to this store, you probably just don't like fun. read more

Games and Stuff and I have had a rocky relationship in the past. When it was a tiny little shop made out of what seemed like an old office building, I didn't like the atmosphere. It was rather cliquish, with some standoffish überdork behind the counter, that made you feel unwelcome. I often took my business elsewhere, unless I was desperate. I am recanting all previous opinions since they moved to their latest incarnations. For everything and anything gamer oriented, you cannot do better than G&S! And that's coming from someone who's been gaming since the mid-80's and patronized most of these stores (past and present), from Rockville to Annapolis. G&S has something for EVERYONE. Board games, from simple to complex? Yup. Card games, from collectible to classic? Yup. Wargames? Yup. Roleplaying games? Yup. Accessories for all of it all? YUP! The few times I've NOT found something, it was either A) out-of-print, B) sold out (and easily re-ordered), or C) simply didn't exist! The staff here have also had a major upswing since those days 15+ years ago. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and have helped me make great decisions on new games. I've even seen them step in when an event hit a problem and they needed someone to run or organize something. Speaking of which, they have a HUGE backroom for playing tons of games. I don't know if any of it is for open play, but there always seems to be something going on. I even know first-hand that Saturdays are full of tournaments and gaming sessions, from Magic to X-Wing. If painting is your thing, they even have paint stations in a quieter section of the store. If you're a gamer anywhere in the DC-Baltimore corridor, then Games and Stuff is a must visit. I've even swung through there on whims just to see what was new... and inevitably walked out with more to play! read more

Congrats on losing a customer and here are my reasons. 1) To many Commander players so your other formats are lacking. The dry seasons can get extremely bad here where you aren't able to play. 2) Replenish your card pool. I get it commander players but up a lot but when someone is looking for something common why isn't it there? 3) Makes some room for those that don't play MTG. I'm a huge MTG player but I feel like to stuff the rest of the game playing community into corners. If you don't play magic my advice is don't come on magic nights. Even your Pokémon crowd doesn't take up all the space. 4) Been playing here for a few years now and loved it but it seems the scene now is less about allow your customer to enjoy their stay, free from management opinion and more about controlling the customer. To add... prices do not update regularly (bad for both the customer and store) they should definitely work on that. Location is getting worse and worse. Games and Stuff is a fantastic find for anyone in search of a great selection of games and game accessories, from the hardcore gamer to the person looking to branch out beyond the simpler offerings at big box stores like Target and Walmart. Games and Stuff's event calendar is completely loaded with events that cater to gamers and hobbyists of all tastes and levels of expertise. Their spacious game room far exceeds that of any other gaming store I've visited, and is ideal for both tournaments and casual play. Games and Stuff supports the local gaming community by hosting used game auctions every so often. While I've given Games and Stuff a 5 star rating, I will throw in one small disclaimer: Their prices on the medium-to-top shelf new games aren't competitive. I realize that a local, privately-owned specialty store can't match the prices of online giants like Amazon and still stay in business, but the price difference is, in some cases, considerably vast. I don't want this small complaint to diminish all the other things Games and Stuff does so well, but it's a consideration that the budget-conscious would be wise to make prior to visiting. Nice little game shop. They do board game preview nights every Tuesday (if I remember correctly). We went to one to learn and see 7 Wonders. The staff is incredibly informative and seriously knows their stuff. And not just board game stuff, all sorts of nerd stuff. Paul was one of the staff members who recommended some of the books they also have in the shop. At his advice, we finally started reading the George RR Martin A Song of Ice and Fire series. Ed, the owner (or one of the owners?... there might be more than one), was also really awesome. He played Formula D with us on another night. One of the amazing things about this board game store is that they have TONS of games already open in the back for customers to open up, look at, and even play before buying themselves. This is incredibly important to customers who are looking to drop upwards of 60$ on some of the games. I only have two gripes, and one isn't even really valid. The prices are obviously higher than you'd find online. That being said, I still occasionally buy from here to support small businesses. I think what this store does is important. As a nerdy girl growing up in rural southern Maryland, I never had a place like this to escape to. Second one would be just that the building itself is kind of old and parking isn't easy. It isn't exactly hard, but it is worth mentioning nonetheless. There is a nearby garage that is free to park in and then it is a short walk to the shop. We usually park across the street, eat, then walk over. read more

Went back with a group of friends and got to play more games in the back. Again, very friendly and helpful staff and a great time. We ended up purchasing "No Thanks" a neat/simple cardgame we could break out at home for small groups and will be back with more time to try some of the more 'in-depth' games that take longer to learn. I love that you can demo a $50 or $100 game before you try it, it makes me FAR more likely to purchase it. Of course, I also demo-ed the $15 card game, but that was fun!! No more relying on varied Amazon reviews, I'll be back to try it out for myself and buy it in store as the prices are comparable and I get the feel-goods supporting a local business. Just the sheer size of this place is amazing. They have the gaming area in the back with at least 12 tables for gaming and more than that for just card games or board games. Their staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about most of the games and they are always willing to help. Their selection is also off the chain. Probably the best selection of GW stuff in the area. A must go to for just perusing or if you want any kind of game. A++ read more

Let me preface this by saying the store it self is amazing! What brings the low review are the employees. I will give a shout out to Chris Coulter and Jeff Hall both of these men were outstanding at giving me a positive experience upon walking in my first time, but after that my trips have been more negative when they are not working! I stopped in to check to see if they had an RPG in stock and none of the 4 employees acknowledged me walking into the store or leaving the store! Two were busy looking at baby hippo pictures on a computer behind the register and couldn't be bothered to help anyone while the others were busy ACTUALLY WORKING!!!!! After having this place hyped up by so many of my friends I was expecting an A+ experience and while I did find what I was looking for (after I asked a regular who was in the back playing pathfinder that came out front for a drink) I have to say I am soured on the customer service I received. I hope it gets better because I would love to make this my local gaming spot but for now there is a lot to be desired! read more

It's a very fun, friendly environment, with very helpful and dedicated staff. You'll even see them playing in the back in their spare time, and, despite the insane advantages you might expect them to have, they don't run overpowered decks or exploit intricate combos and loopholes. I primarily go here to play Magic, and I usually buy a few things as well. Their prices aren't bad at all- some singles are going to be more pricey than you might find online, but some are cheaper as well. Their selection encompasses every set, and usually at least one copy of any given card will be in stock. Also, whenever a new set comes in, they'll try and have a few foreign boxes, which is really cool for anyone with even a casual interest in foreign languages. The play area in the back is great- you don't have to pay or buy anything to use it, and you can meet up with friends, play with new people, or watch other players duke it out. Personally, I'd recommend buying something anyway, because A) you're supporting a great local business, B) you know you want another Conspiracy booster, and C) they have a solid rewards program. If I remember correctly, whenever you net $250 in purchases, you get 10% off on your next purchase. There are some exclusions, though I'm not sure what they are. Still, I doubt they're unreasonable. Many players bring stuff to trade as well, but keep in mind that customers aren't allowed to sell cards. Actually, if you buy the person a Games and Stuff gift card in exchange for something, I think that's allowed, but you should check with an associate first. If you like Magic, other card games, board games, competitions, buying stuff, trading stuff, selling stuff (to the store!), playing games, trying new things, or visiting random stores in Glen Burnie, you should definitely check it out. read more

When I lived in VA, there was an old comic store that was my second-home; so much that we were family, all pitching in to help one way or another. After stepping into Games and Stuff, (at their older location) for the first time, I got that same sense of camaraderie. I have since made it the only place I shop for my games. The staff are helpful, endearing, and the products are all there, begging me to spend my dollars on yet more fun. You can test-drive your board games, (my niche) or jump into the war-gaming and RP'ing that frequents the back room. Heck, there's even the card guys that frequent the place if you are into that scene. Wide variety of minis for many different games. I came from out of state and the staff caught on to that and showed me their event schedule so that I would have something to do while I'm here. Some of the models seemed a bit pricey on the warhammer and horde side, but that kind of thing is to be expected with items that tend to hang on the shelf a little longer. After I left The state I called in to ask about a box set of models I had been interested in and wanted to look for online, but Paul couldn't be bothered to help me find a name for what I was looking for. I've painted miniatures professionally for over 30 years, and it was nice to see painting stations in the store. They have a fairly large selection of gaming figures as well as games. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to buy anything. They threw me out because I was barefoot. read more

A good game shop can be hard to find in this area. There are only a few places that sell a decent selection of tabletop games, CCGs, etc. I'm very happy to add this store to my list of go-to gaming shops! I came here to play some games in their upstairs back room with a group that had reserved it. The rest of the upstairs was being used for some sort of CCG tournament. They've got a lot of open space for gaming, and a very nice library downstairs where you can check out a game and try it before you buy it. The shop has plenty of games, miniatures, dice, RPG guides, cards, etc. A bit of everything and nicely organized. The games are generally 20-40% more than they cost on Amazon, but I'm generally much more inclined to support a small business. Free parking down the block and friendly staff make it even nicer to visit. read more

I just went in and looked through some binders and found a foil card I wanted. After already giving me a price, they researched the card and changed the price. Really uncool. I don't think I'll be coming back here again. Lately I have realized that they have poor customer service and poor additides. This is the third time that they have given me bad customer service. I used to like the place but they are too unorganized and not very customer friendly. Hope this review helps. Maybe they will start working on a better staff. This store has allllll the things that make a geek like me just lose a few hours in the place! Their Magic singles, packs, and equipment are diverse. They do a great job at separating the play room from the merchandise room, noise canceling and tidy. Like 8 war game tables and a lot of regular tables for trying out their board games or just hanging out with friends for rounds of Magic. The store is clean, organized and spacious. Oh my Alice in Wonderland! This place is pretty cool, if you're into board games, fantasy model miniatures, cards, and collecting nerdy, but super quirky Games & Stuff. There's a decent painting station, with most of the model painting accessories that you can fathom. Most of the store consists of the gaming tables and chairs in the back of the store. Fantastic Selection of board/specialty games. Prices are average for local games. I'm a local and a gamer. I hadn't visited their old location because I'd not going to deal with parking in Glen Burnie just to go there. While I was shopping in the strip mall, I stopped in. I was in the store for over 30 minutes. Not once was I greeted for even noticed. There were about 4-5 people in the store. If I really wanted something locally i'd go there for the convenience, but the while not initiating contact was off putting. read more

What has drawn us back multiple times to Games and Stuff is their selection of board games. They have a great selection, plus you can try games out in their game room. They must have 300-400 games back there, that you can just sit down with plenty of space to spread out. Because it is a big room, I imagine if a lot of people are playing at once, it might be a little hard to hear. But it is a really cool service to offer. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They'll also order games if they don't have it in stock. There's a lot of other accessories and games for hardcore gamers (including airbrush painting stations). The store actually does a great job of being accessible to hardcore, casual, and family gamers. read more

Yeah, I'm a fan of this shop! Just shy of a perfect score. Check them out! Stock and Selection: ***** No doubt about it, Games and Stuff has the best selection in MD. It cannot be said strenuously enough how deeply and well stocked this store is in multiple departments. The owners are responsive to customer feedback and will add games and hobby supplies as customer interest grows and changes. The retail area is kept impeccably cleaned and organized. A+ in this category, this is what often brings me into this shop-they just always have that special or niche item(s) that other stores can't or won't stock. Gaming Spaces: ***** Another strong suit for G & S. About half of the store is dedicated to beautiful, functional, and clean gaming spaces for card and tabletop mini games. Numerous demo tables for featured board games are a common sight as well. Space is generous and it is never hard to pick up a game on a free table. No charge outside events, great and diverse terrain, your cards and miniatures are going to look good on these tables. Solid A. Organized Play and Events: **** G & S regularly updates and disseminates a really well organized and full calendar of events for a wide variety of game systems. This calendar of event is available online at their website and in store by pamphlet produced by the staff. All in all the shop does a great job supporting the games they are selling you with a healthy dose of organized play. It should also be noted that these events are well attended by large player based with draw from across the state, so G & S is a likely spot for the higher end competitive play like Regionals, Qualifiers, etc. My only nitpick is that the shop tends to close kinda early most nights, but who can blame the staff for wanting to have some extra time outside of work. B+ here. $ Buying, Trading, and Selling $: *** This is G & S's weakest category, though let me preface this by saying that the store's philosophy on pricing is fair (just not the best for customers). Their selection is great, but you pay for it. Most items are retail value, though the store will sometimes mark up items to conform to a perceived "market value". When buying, selling, and trading MTG singles it often feels like the staff is trying to low-ball you to get extra value for the store. Especially with lightly played cards you are likely better off selling your collection elsewhere, as they are sticklers for condition when buying or doing trade-ins. When buying singles the prices are more or less in line with TCG mid and they are well stocked and organized. It is also worth saying that the current customer loyalty program is terrible and has never felt like it has rewarded me for my frequent patronage of the store, I sincerely hope they will do away with it in favor of something more relevant. In summation, prices here are fair, but if you came expecting any great deals you will likely leave disappointed and feeling like the store just pulled one over you. I purchase from this store due to the selection, though if another shop stocks the item I am looking for then they often have it cheaper than Games and Stuff. C average score. Staff and Management: **** Wow this review is long, Quickly. The Staff is great. Friendly, knowledgeable, and diverse. The G & S staff avoids the common "Bearded and bespectacled boy's club" "Uniform" so ubiquitous in hobby shops. The owner(s) and management have clearly been at it a while and can come off as a bit gruff, but they warm up and relax a bit as you get to know them-nice dudes-don't be intimidated. B+ Community, Culture, and Inclusiveness: **** Huge and relatively accepting community. The culture can come off as a bit cliquish and sharky at first but there is no shortage of great people to game with here if you give it a chance. I have know Ed Sloman for a long time and watched Games & Stuff grow and move. They continue to maintain a HUGE selection of board games, miniatures, role playing games and CCG's. There has never been a time that I have visited that there wasn't some form of gaming in the back room, often rather large. The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. There is a discount program for regular customers. G & S has hosted major regional tournaments for Magic and other card games. There is a miniature painting station in the front of the store and demonstrations and training are scheduled. read more
