I love this location (not just because it's next to an amazing smoke shop). The customer service is always great and friendly. They tend to get my brother me mixed when we go in, so it's always a fun visit. Their selection of new/older/retro books is pretty vast. If you're looking for toys, board games, and action figures, they have a nice selection as well. This store also has a membership program that comes in handy. Over a year in, I'm now a very regular customer. David, Andy, and Rusty are all fantastic resources for pretty much anything you could possibly want to know about comics. Regular customers get all kinds of extras, including discounts, freebies, fun weekend and week-long events/sales throughout the year, etc. We also get a lot of update emails, any or all of which you can easily opt out of; I choose to get them all, as it really helps me to keep on top of what's new in the biz. I am constantly (read: probably a few times/week) updating my pull list via email to them, and they respond very quickly every time. Bottom line: Just a very happy customer, and I plan to remain so for a very long time. read more

Awesome store in my community! The have plenty of variety of comic books and novelty items. There are so many cartoons that have there own comic book. I was wowed. I found them online looking for events that was free for kids for halloween. This store participates in Hallowfest for comics. This event happens in certain shops all over USA. The event includes for free comics books, candy, and a costume contest. They also have pumkin carving contest. Employees are very helpful here and very knowledgeable about most comics. they have plenty discounted comics and more. They have plenty events for the community children. This place was great. My buddy and I stopped in on a rainy day and Dave was a pleasure to deal with. There's a mural on the ceiling depicting the history of comics which is AMAZING and their back issue section is great. I found what I was looking for and the pricing was very competitive with what I was expecting. As I've mentioned before, you can can go anywhere to purchase new comics but it's the other things I find make the comic shop. Whatever you're looking for I suggest adding this little gem to you list. read more

The guys at Cosmic Comix were so friendly and helpful to this newbie! I used to read Archie Comics growing up, and, until recently, I had no idea that comic books aka "graphic novels" were still so popular. Today, I picked up the first volume from R.L. Stine's new series, "Just Beyond" called 'The Scare School.' I am really excited to read it. I still remember watching Stine's TV series "Goosebumps" on Saturday mornings, and feeling so scared even during the daylight. They have the greatest free comic book day around.  It was amazing.  I would see kids and families running to the store to attend the event in Catonsville. 9.  Andy is a genius at promotion.  He will come up with cool ideas to engage the customers.  There are Batman days, Star War days, etc.  And the annual Cosmic Comix Tournament.  (There was the traditional super-hero March Madness tournament, the sidekicks tournament, the super pets tournament, etc.) 8. Other stores only have sales Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving.  This store has actual sales. 7. They got a Bat pole.  Need I say more. 6. They please their customers.  I've been with the store since DC's Zero Hour event.  (That's 1994 for you non-geeks.)  And they made me a subscriber and I'm notorious noncommittal. 5. They know their books. 4. The customers like the store and have become friends through the store.  Rusty used to feature a Cosmic Comix podcast with his customers. 3. We're newcomers to MD and glad we found this comic book shop not too far from us. They have an awesome ceiling and unique pops. I almost done wanna post about it so no one gets the pops we want (ha ha). Pops are a bit in the high side but ones I haven't seen elsewhere. read more

The selection at Cosmic is amazing. Tons upon tons of back issues and a good selection of current releases. The reason for the poor rating is the customer service. I had went in once before with my GF looking for a hard to find issue of Batman #13 and sure enough they had plenty of copies when no other shop in the city had any left. One of the guys at the counter was pleasant and friendly. Impressed with their stock I decided to make the venture out again the following day and just look around. Upon walking in I didn't even receive so much as a hello, seeing as I never really looked around before I was still trying to figure out how their shelves are organized when a guy that I didn't see the day before came from behind the counter looking slightly annoyed and appeared to be chewing seeds. He asked if I needed help. I said I was looking for a current issue of a Red Lanterns book and he sarcastically said "Welllll, that would be right over there in the new releases section, where it says new releases, it is the comic with all the Red writing that says Red Lanterns." I'm sorry, maybe this seems okay to some, but being talked to like a developmentally disabled child is not what I consider good business practice. It was obvious from his tone that he was bothered to do his job which would be to sell customers comics which is unfortunate because I had went intending to buy myself a good present of a lot of back issues and some toys. Instead another shop in the city got my $150 that day.. Maybe he was having a bad day or just hates his job but either way this was more than enough to make me decide I will never give Cosmic Comix my business again!! read more

Came about this place when I moved out of Baltimore and into the county. One of the best shops I've ever visited. The selection is huge, the layout and organization is top notch and I've never had a problem when speaking with any of the employees. When I have a question they never point to an area, they walk me over to where the item may be. They also throw some dope Free Comic Book Day parties (early May each year). I always leave with a ton of great deals and free trades. I probably drive by 2 shops on my way there, but this is the store I prefer. read more

It says something to me that, even after I've moved to northern Virginia and technically exist about an hour away, I still keep a file at Cosmic and make sure I get the bulk of my comic collection (and therefore satisfy the reading habit) there. The staff warms up to you, the discount is excellent, and the occasional back-issue sales are right on target. I just wish I could get up there more than once every 7 or 8 weeks. read more

This is my closest Comic Book Store, and I will be going on a regular basis. It has a big selection, with the new releases close by the door and then boxes and boxes of comics. It's toy selection is a little smaller than I am used to, but that didn't stop me from buying some. They were helpful when I was looking for some specific issues (even though they were out of Tomb Raider, bummer). I don't know if they do tabletop events, or any social things, but I sure intend to find out. Great place! read more

If I see a comic book store no matter when the lay time it was that I bought I have to stop in and check it out. And this place was a helluva surprise! Everything from it's superhero ceiling tiles, to it's vast and well-kept back issue bins, to their all accommodating staff; I was wowed! And on top of it all I caught them on their "40% off Everything" Sale can't beat that. You won't believe all I got for just under $45! If I had any gripe it'd be the lack of indy titles and I wasn't all too wowed with the selection of action figures (just nothing that I couldn't get elsewhere); no biggie tho. A very nice store. A good selection of back issues, and its easy to get around. They even have a gift bag for first-time customers. The only downside is that the actual address will appear as the back of the store on map sites. You have to know to pull around the building into a parking lot in order to get to the actual front door. read more

My wife introduced me to this place when we were dating and we're still going here for our comic fix today. Great staff that is always friendly and knows us by sight now. Always willing to give recommendations if you want them and will give you the straight up truth on a series, not all of them are gold and they will tell you that. As an admitted superhero and gaming nerd, I love the selection and atmosphere in the store. The mural on the ceiling is beautiful, and the staff are always pretty awesome. This is possibly the best you could hope for in a small shop. The walls are decked out with current releases, plenty of back issues in between, a good stock of graphic novels and a friendly staff. There is always a sale of some kind going on, and email notifications will keep you tuned in to what those are. Locals with a pull list recieve additional discounts on nearly everything in store, with frequent additional bonuses just for picking up your books. The only minor complaint I have is that most of the back issues are relatively recent, but it's a small shop so I'm not docking it any points. Cosmic Comix is definitely my favorite comic spot. They're always my favorite place to venture to on FCBD every year. I'm a part of their email list, and they do quite a few big sales each year that offer some unbeatable bargains on toys and comics alike. They have a ridiculous selection of back issues, some awesome toys, both nostalgic and recent, and a very consumer friendly set up. The guys there are also good to talk to, and they've been open a really long time, which, given their tucked away location, says a lot about the business they run. If you live anywhere near Catonsville (I'm personally about 45 minutes away) it's worth a trip if you've never been! read more

After you go there for about a month or two, they give you a little blue card that lets you get 10% off! They're absolutely the best. Highly, highly recommended. read more

They not only take care of their customers with deals, recommendations, but they also have sales and specials every week. They treat each customer with respect and always make you feel welcome the moment you walk into the door.
