They have wall to wall and several aisles stocked full of product. They even have a buy 2 items under $3 get the 3rd item under $3 free. They have loads of dvds/blurays, cds, some books/manga, old and new games and systems, and some awesome collectibles. The employees definitely were the cherry on top. He was telling us about the setup of the store, deals the have and about their trade in policies (which are the states policy and super intense to stop stolen items from being sold. They even do fingerprints). My husband is officially obsessed with this store and if he could live here he would. We had to go back to the hotel to grab a game to trade in and on the way back he said "I love this place. I know we aren't there but I'm going to talk like we are because my soul is there". I have no doubts we will be back. We ended up getting a few different things and we were pleased with everything.

HobbyTown is located in the long strip center adjacent to the former Weekends Only (and soon to be Vasa Fitness). It's definitely not the most active strip center, however, it seems like a good location for this type of business. HobbyTown is a franchised retail toy/hobby store with over 100 locations nationwide including three in Indiana (Granger and Evansville also have one). It's based in Nebraska. HobbyTown has a bit of a retro vibe, craft store meets hardware store meets toys like RC vehicles, RC aircraft, models, toys, games, learning toys, arts and crafts, and trains. I would probably describe myself as a wannabe hobbyist. I found myself completely captivated by the trains, RC options, and some of the models. I loved models as a kid - I was lousy at putting them together, but I really enjoyed it. They also had more board games than I expected. Parking here is pretty easy. It's not the most accessible building, however, it's not far from Concentra with a great curb cut. The store itself was pretty easy to get around, though aisles are occasionally a bit crowded. I had no difficulty and found the place friendly and helpful. The prices are pretty consistent with other hobby/toy shops. Yes, you can spend a lot here. For sure. You can also find affordable hobby options and gift options. A five-star might be a tad generous, however, I really liked the place and loved the variety of toys and hobbies. They didn't restock before that (not just train items out of stock) so that doesn't make sense to me. The older men that work there are not very friendly at all. If you ask them something about anything they act like you're stupid if you didn't already know. They are just rude old grouchy men. So because of those issues I'm done going there. They have all the usual sales here, buy 3 get 2 free, plus endless coupons, and other sales, so no one ever actually pays full price as far as I can tell. They don't always have all products in all scents, but this might be more of a product line issue than a store issue. It is a little random in terms of what scents have tester bottles out; it is definitely not all of them at this location, so I usually end up getting scents I'm already familiar with. Staff are typically friendly here and always offer to help and point out sales. I do like that they will leave customers alone though if you say you don't need help. Other than at the holidays this location is usually not super busy so no line to check out!

Pre-COVID, Game Time was the premier MTG destination on the north side of Indianapolis. Double digit attendance weekly across multiple formats, Regional Qualifier events for the Pro Tour, the kind of competitive scene that made this place feel less like a local game store and more like a Jedi Temple for Magic players. I played in those events. I remember what this place was capable of when it was operating at full power. I came in on a Saturday for the MTG Hobbit prerelease event, which drew eight players. Eight. The play area that used to hum with the energy of a full Rebel fleet now has half its tables cordoned off indefinitely, like a wing of the Temple that nobody talks about anymore. It is noticeable, and it is a little melancholy if you were there for the golden era. That said, the eight of us who showed up had a genuinely good time. The event ran smoothly, the staff kept things moving, and cracking Hobbit themed prerelease packs at a table with fellow players is still one of the better ways to spend a Saturday regardless of headcount. The store itself remains worth visiting for TCG singles and sealed product. The collection is large, well organized, and if you are hunting a specific Magic card for any format, this is a reliable place to find it. The rewards program is solid and worth using if you are a regular. The staff is nice, knowledgeable, and treats you like someone who belongs there. Four stars for a store that was once the Death Star of competitive MTG in Indianapolis and is now rebuilding. The foundation is still good. Here is hoping the play area opens back up and the Rebel alliance returns in full.

Why would a woman who has never played Warhammer review a store that's all about Warhammer? And now I want to bring my kids to see if Warhammer is something they might be interested in! I popped into Games Workshop because I happened to be visiting a restaurant in the same shopping center. It had the word "games" in the name, so I had to check it out. Turns out, the store is all about one particular game: Warhammer. I had heard of Warhammer, but I didn't know an entire store could be dedicated to it. Indeed, an entire store can be dedicated to Warhammer! There are kits and mini figures, and paints to paint your figures, and tables at which to play the game, if you want. They have a lot of product in the store, but they can also order things for you, from what I remember. There are also some cool displays set up. I like mini things, so to see such intricate scenes set up is really fun, even if I have no idea what the context is in terms of game play. If you're into Warhammer, this is the place to be. And if you don't know about Warhammer but think it might be something you want to try, this is also the place to be because they will help you out here, and are very welcoming to newbies.
