We were excited to open a few things, but the prices were shockingly high -- almost triple the normal market value on most items. A standard booster box that usually goes for $70-$90 online was priced at around $170 here. A UPC that MSRP $119 markets at $200 was priced at $245. The Pokémon tins were also marked up to triple the normal price, and even the promo singles were going for double what they typically sell for elsewhere. It's too bad because ripping packs with friends is supposed to be fun, but these kinds of markups make it feel like the shop is taking advantage of collectors. We ended up leaving empty-handed. I'd suggest checking online prices or trying other stores first. These prices are just too steep to make it worth it here. Whether on purpose or out of touch not worth your money.

Funny background on this location, I used to work here when I was 19 and pregnant as the barista in their now demolished cafe area. At "Joe's" we used to have maybe 3 small round tables with two chairs each & 2 cushioned chairs in the corner with a small table between them. They brewed hot coffee round the clock and also offered a large variety of tea & two slushy type drinks. There was also a food case that had a variety of pastry's & typically one or two savory options. Who made the decision to enclose that area, build a wall & put more books there? Terrible idea & drove me to try and find elsewhere to read in peace and quiet. This place works great for me because it's really close to my house and it's locally owned. That way I don't have to drive a long way to find what I need for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. The Hero's Emporium has always had a great selection of brushes, paints, and miniatures that I have come to rely heavily upon as a Dungeon Master. I am always able to find the miniatures that I am looking for whether that be a female gnome paladin or several packages of gnolls that I can paint and throw at my party. All the miniatures are very reasonably priced too, so I can get even larger miniatures like a storm giant for only around $15. For as long as miniatures take me to paint, this is well worth the money. I also want to mention that they offer a decent selction of dice sets to choose from, which is important for any D&D campaign, especially when your dice are fickle. I also love that they offer both old and new sourcebooks for D&D as well as official Nolzurs paint sets, and Icons of the Realms. This gives me a large pool to choose what will be most exciting for my party. Finally I wanted to mention that this business has also done tabletop nights. Although I personally have not attended one of those events, I support the space this business is building for the tabletop community. The staff has also always been very welcoming and helpful, making sure that I am finding everything that I am searching for. I am also occasionally able to find expansion packs for a bit more obscure card game called Smash Up here, which is delightful considering that it's so hard to find in just a regular store like Target. I will continue to come back and support this business in their mission to help the tabletop community thrive.
