I guess it's clear this isn't a "card shop," it's a scalpers storefront. Don't go here looking for Lorcana--guessing the margins are too low. Except for their singles, which they sell for $2-4....crazy pricing for Lorcana. Anyways, i won't be back. Will have to continue my search for a card shop that's ethical and somewhat reasonable. --------- Edit in response to business reply: 1) i agree conversation could go a long way. But when your pricing on a brand new Pokémon set (which doesn't have a set market yet) is already 3x MSRP, what productive conversation can happen? It's just a straight up gouge. I'm not naive to expect to get everything at MSRP, but i think 3x markup 2 days post launch is unreasonable. 2) i did ask about Lorcana. I was told you "don't carry much" and "didn't have any right now." 3) you seem to be implying that you're aware prices are high and can then be negotiated lower. If that's how you want to do it that's your prerogative, just understand that's offputting for new customers. It's hard to want to establish a relationship and have a conversation when the first impression is being taken advantage of. And when your response to pricing questions is "well the hobby is thriving!" I don't think that's off base.

He's complimented the staff and remarked that they are very knowledgeable, especially with Warhammer Fantasy. They're always willing to help (but not overbearing, as has been the case with other Games Workshop locations). There are several tables with a variety of amazingly detailed scenery set up and ready to play on, and there always seem to be games going on. But even so, him and his friends have never had a problem finding an open table. They've also been a fan of the other regulars, and we tend to see a couple familiar faces each time we stop in. This location not only goes the extra mile to plan and host special tournaments, but also painting seminars to spark interest and help those who are newer to the game. The store usually has a lot of expert painters that have been more than helpful and friendly. He says he's gotten some good ideas from them.

About a month ago the second system I bought was a PS2 and had previous repairs that were not disclosed to me upon my purchase of the PS2. Yesterday I went to play said PS2 and removed what i thought was built up dust and gunk from a previous owner but the system stopped working entirely. While i understand I bought a used system i should be made aware of repairs or fixes made that have been done with the system that im purchasing and should not be paying the same price of a system in good working order without repairs. Me being me I let that go but over this past weekend I also went back and bought 2 games from this store only to discover that one case was missing the disc. I understand that mistakes can happen, but undisclosed repairs and selling an empty game case shows a serious lack of quality control and lack or care to your customer. Customers should be able to trust that used systems and games have been properly inspected, that repairs are disclosed, and that games actually include the disc. With my experiences in mind I would not recommend this store unless you want to take the risk or they improve their inspection process and disclosing repairs on theirs systems. I will say the employee that was working when I came to replace the missing disc did his best to mend the situation of the missing disc but I'm highly disappointed with the quality of systems and games ive purchased from this store be weary of what you purchase from these guys

Earlier this year, I bought a Sega Game Gear from Good Will. They told me that it was tested and…read moreworked, so I was stoked to bring it home and play it but once I turned it on it wouldn't stay on. Disappointing of course, but I had already read up on how the capacitors fail after a while. "No problem" I thought, "I'll just find a local repair shop" and found Gamestersbay. Their website advertised a 7 day turnaround with most repairs, and I loved that they were involved with using games to get kids off the streets, so I stopped into the Evanston location. The first meeting went great, I chatted up the owner, he said he'd get it to his repair guy and be back with me in a couple of days with a diagnosis of the issues. So I handed over the console, and left feeling good. Unfortunately that was the last time I felt good. That couple of days passed and I didn't hear anything so I shot over a text asking the deal. They hadn't looked at the console yet. Cool, I get it, people get busy, so I left it for about a week or so. I sent another text at roughly two weeks out (now well past the advertised 7 days) for an update and was met with an extremely rude response saying that I could "pay a rushed fee of $50" to get it done quicker "since I can't seem to let professionals work". At this point, they had the console for weeks and I still had no idea what was wrong with it or how much it would cost to repair so I was pretty shocked at the response. I said fine that I'd sit tight. 3 weeks went by after that with no update on my console, so I sent a message stating that it had now been over a month with no word except for the extremely unprofessional text, the deal was off, and I'd be in to pick up the console in whatever state it was in. I then got a call from a woman who introduced herself as one of the owners. She apologized, talked through things with me, and I ultimately decided to continue to forge forward. Things got a little better with the first guy afterwards, he explained that there was a decent amount of stuff wrong with the Game Gear outside of what we thought was the original issue (the capacitors) and he was keeping me informed. It was even ready for pickup at one point, but we had to go back on that since it still wasn't working properly. At last shake, the plan was to get one of the broken ones from the Racine store and see if we couldn't do anything with that. At that point, I had dropped off the console in May. This was in July. It is now November, and there hasn't been a single shred of communication since. I've since given up, I bought a new console and ensured that it worked right off the bat. Better that than deal with Gamestersbay any further. They can keep the other one.

We set up an appointment and he handled the whole transaction wonderfully and most importantly with safe practices and distances. I was able to briefly see his inventory and to my surprise found two additional fairly priced games in great condition. I found Ramsin to be extremely helpful and personable, and his passion was evident. I ended up purchasing all three items, and I am happy to say they work flawlessly! I can say that I will definitely be returning to do more business with Gamestersbay in the future, and I will be spreading the word to others!

They took a look and let me know the fuses would need to be replaced (which I suspected) but also the capacitors. This is a precision repair. They soldered the unit carefully and replaced the parts for me for only 45$ including labor. Easily will get another 10 years out of it now! An absolute bargain! You can see their passion for their work and even though I'm much closer to another repair shop I will take this 25 minute drive anytime for future repairs!! They also have a 90 day warranty standing behind their work. That's included in the reasonable price! Parking was easy and free as well. Just keep an eye on the signs and you'll be fine.
