Customer service is non existent. Employees don't even greet customers, instead continuing their conversations with other employees or using their cell phones. I hate that malls are dying, but this location needs to go anyway. Terrible!! Worst GameStop, ever. read more

I highly suggest Customer service training. Like other people who have left reviews, I am very disappointed in the service I received today. And I bet the employees who were there tonight know who I'm talking about from the description of my experience. I came in to grab my son a couple of games. My son gave me two names for his handheld console. I wasn't sure if he had a Nintendo DS or a switch. I asked if the games I was grabbing would work with a DS or a switch so I could confirm. Everything was in the same section and I'm not a gamer. One of the things that was really insulting is when the store associate squinted at me and said are you sure it's the one that cost $450? First of all I make six figures, which might be more than you make but I wouldn't know because I don't assume people's salaries. Why are you insinuating it must not be that one? One reason I was able to go from retail to a leadership position is because I learned not to treat people like that. Watch your own pocket. Then after I figured out which console it was (20 second call) the associate told me not to ever describe the console as a DS. Don't ever tell me what to say in your entire life. I'm purchasing a product in a store you work in. The revenue helps pay YOUR bills and I kept it kind and professional. You can affirm that it is a Nintendo switch and that is the name I should use but don't ever insult me like that again. Get a better job and a better life if you're so miserable. Before my current career, I worked in retail. I have never treated even the grumpiest customers like that. We're the same age, act like it. The other associate in the store was nice. I called in earlier to check their hours because it's Christmas Eve and I recognized their voice. So you have at least one person in the store that understands Customer Sevice, but clearly management doesn't care that they have people misrepresenting them. Look at the other reviews. Firstly, GameStop is at this point just a nostalgic place to visit. It is no longer advantageous to exclusively shop here for games. I purchased a pre-owned Xbox controller as a pro member and ended up not needing the controller. I was 3 days outside of the return policy but had not used the item. I was willing to accept store credit even to spend the money back in store but the person was unwilling to make an exception for the return. I paid 56.99 for the unit and they said the could give 13-18 dollars for it if I used the trade in system. That felt awful. It was strange because first they denied me initially because they claimed "can't find your receipt through your pro membership" which I found out was untrue. But I provided the physical receipt in store then the reason changed to being outside return by 3days. when I called the GameStop customer service the rep told me "systematically they could have fulfilled that and I'm sorry they didn't but the manager in store could have made an exception for store credit" Additionally, they were unkind to me in this store. I was aware of the prejudice they have in this location with the BIPOC community location so I did not expect the BEST service but usually when they are nicer when talking you. read more

Came here while visiting Portland last August because my friend got me hooked on a new Switch game called Overcooked! I was so hooked I had to go out and get a Switch (thanks bf!).. lol. I did not like the lady at the checkout, we think she was a manager.. she kept trying to pressure me into paying for an extended warranty and would not take no for an answer. Kept trying to scare me saying people have had XYZ issues, blah blah, screen scratch, blah blah, Switch overheating.. warping.. blah blah. Stop trying to scare me into your warranty, just take my "no, thank you" and wish me a good day. read more

Just got extremely hustled by two employees to buy their "pro membership" after repeatedly telling them I wasn't interested in it since I don't shop here enough. Gave me a run around for about 5 minutes of why I need it after telling them I didn't. Then after being told by the girl with glasses that "some people dont like to save money" when asking if Ill need to bring the the recipeit for a return neither her or the other person working could give me a clear answer, kept pointing at the box and not ansering my question. The two men here around 5pm today were very kind and helpful, even though I was basically falling asleep standing up (I work nights) and making a fool of myself. This is a great shop! On my first visit there, I was having a miserable experience- the place was crowded, noisy, muggy and hot. The line was long and slow-moving. When I finally got to the register, I figured out why the place was packed and people were standing in the long, uncomfortable line.. The staff there were AMAZING. They took the time to listen to me, make some great recommendations and make sure that all my needs were met without being weirdly pushy or overzealous in their "selling". The customer service that I received was absolutely top-notch and made the environment more than tolerable. Typically I detest noise and crowds, but I look forward to each and every visit to this storefront. If they keep doing what they are doing now, I'll remain a raving fan for life. read more

Not only does this GameStop have a "Line starts here" sign behind the workers, but they also don't abide by it. My partner and I waited in line for about 10 minutes until other customers started lining up directly next to the cashiers. When my partner said "excuse me" to the workers, they noticed us, but didn't direct the other customers to the appropriate line. Instead, they asked the customers "would it be okay if I rang them up first?" What's the point in abiding by the sign as customers if the employees won't? The customers ended up getting mad at us even though we followed this GameStop's rules - thanks employees for not having our back nor directing those who cut us to the end. Horrible experience. To top it off - they ran out of the game and the employee STILL had me put it back on the shelf when it ran out!! Increase your training, GameStop, because this was unacceptable. read more

Super small store. I waited in line for 15 min trying to buy a game with two people in front of me. I got bored waiting so I went on Amazon and found the same game for $12 less brand new. The employees were nice, don't get me wrong. It's everything else that sucked. read more

Bought a game yesterday that was not cheap and the employee working said if I don't like it I'm able to bring it back. He didn't say for less than a quarter of the price. Really disappointed with the customer service when I tried to return it today because the game was terrible (not their fault) but I'm overall disappointed with the customer service at this location. read more

I've only recently started coming to this GameStop with my wife after we moved into the area. It's a nice smaller store with a very attentive staff. This review however and rating was earned after what my wife and I just saw. We went in today after work to pay on one of our reservations for console release, there was a "customer" who was incredibly rude to the staff member trying to assist him. This one staff member in particular is always so kind, sweet and enthusiastic. Anyway, the customer who was being served by her was attempting to trade in some trashy cracked droid phone of some sort. He was clearly unprepared for the transaction as the device was dead. He got into an argument about his demand, yes, demand to have her charge his phone to move forward with the trade. She politely explained why she couldn't do that, to then have the customer escalate and berate her with insults. He cussed and lunged at her. The manager, Samantha, pulled her hair down and jumped immediately into the fray and set the customer straight. She defended her employee very well and professionally. She had security remove the customer as he pressed on to call her names. To me I appreciated seeing my business was supporting folks like those. Huge props to the manager who stepped in and handled the situation, but more importantly defended her employee. I've seen too many times before managers just letting customers treat their employees like trash to make a profit or feed an ego. So glad that's not the case here. Both deserve a raise. Anyway, bring your business here. It's worth the drive by far. read more

The sales guy talked my mom into an AfterGlow PS3 controller, the right joystick was screwed within three months making it unusable. I called them to see if anything could be done and they offered to buy it back for $3.00!!!!! I paid $35.00!! Better to just go on Amazon, where at least you can get customer reviews like this.
