They have a great selection of retro games, especially Nintendo handhelds like the gameboy and the prices are reasonable.

I've picked up free redemption codes through Gamestop before for Pokémon shiny codes (or event…read morecodes). It's never been an issue before to swing in and grab a free code (which the Pokemon Company AND Gamestop advertise it as), even a day or two after release. This time the code was for Scarlet/Violet, Shiny Miraidon/Koraidon depending on which version of the game you have. Get to this location shortly after opening (on 9/26/25) and it's ridiculously busy with people all in line trying to buy new Pokémon cards (and possibly Magic?). That's fine- however, we then learn that we are *REQUIRED* to spend $15 in order to get the *free* code. I understand one per person, that's entirely fair...but these are supposed to be free. I watched a young man get turned away because he didn't have money, he asked if he could show them his switch to prove he has played this game and loves it; he wasn't rude, he wasn't a re-seller, he was just a guy who loves his Pokemon game. He didn't have $15 to spend for his free code and they told him they couldn't help him because the District Manager told them that morning that people must spend $15 to get the code, to avoid re-sellers (5 minutes prior to this, another guy was irritated and insisted on the fact they're supposed to be free and she handed him two codes because she didn't want to "argue over a piece of paper". What?? She apologized and was mostly kind, but I can't understand the idea that this is okay. If I had chosen to be rude, would I have gotten my code for free? Neither employee was rude to us, the gentleman who rang us out for something we didn't want was quick and kind about it but this can't actually be allowed.. when we left I saw that same young man outside in absolute tears because he was turned away (and shouldn't have been). I hope he is able to somehow get his code, I gave mine to my younger brother (who is stuck at school) or I'd have given him mine. Most of the people in the store wanted to buy cards, and based on the way they were acting about it I am certain they are in fact re-sellers. So how is it a deterrent when those people are already spending enough money to get the code? Something doesn't seem right here. I went ahead and called the Clackamas store to inquire if we needed to spend money to get a code (so I could try to get one for myself since I gave mine to my brother) and they told me no, you just have to come in to the store and it's one per person. These stores should have the same District Manager..so who is lying? I won't be spending money at the Eastport location anymore because I don't think the manager there was being truthful.. I also work retail and I know that things can be cruddy sometimes, but I don't lie to people so my store gets more money and Pro Sign-Ups ‍

Not particularly a fan of the current manager at this location, but I do believe that GameStop is a…read moregood company. One of my favorite employees from here no longer works at the location so now I would have to visit other malls to get the games and merch that I want.

I tried supporting this local shop, but after what I saw, I won't be back. Watching a kid get…read morecharged $50 for a two-pack item with a $14.99 MSRP was enough for me. That's roughly $25 per modern pack--for cards that aren't vintage, scarce, or anything remotely special. There's a difference between running a business and shamelessly exploiting hype, and this shop clearly knows exactly what it's doing. That's not "market pricing," that's blatant price gouging aimed at the people least likely to know better. Card shops are supposed to build community and help grow the hobby, especially for kids. Instead, this place feels more interested in squeezing every possible dollar out of excited young collectors and their parents. It's hard to call yourself a community shop when you're pricing families out of the hobby. If your business model depends on overcharging kids and parents who don't know better, that says everything people need to know. Even their video games are priced way more than even EBay prices.

They had multiple cards I was interested in so I get ready for my 40 min trek, head over there, walk in and see the cards I wanted ON DISPLAY with price tags and everything. So I tell them I'm interested in a few cards and I'm told "oh I need to look at all these cards again."...so I wait around for 15 min just to essentially be told nothing they went out of their way to post on their instagram was for sale.... So I dragged my one year old son on a 2 hr trek for literally nothing. Will not be returning to this store ever

It can be difficult to locate video games that are rare, my only con is the price points for the video games are pretty high. Listings described items as "mint" or "like new," but what I received didn't match those descriptions. When I reached out, the responses were vague and shifted depending on the question, which made it difficult to get a clear resolution. What stood out most was the lack of transparency. Basic questions about sourcing and condition grading were met with unclear answers, and at times the explanation seemed to change. As a buyer, that creates a level of uncertainty that's hard to ignore--especially in a market where condition and trust are everything. After this experience, I took a closer look at other feedback and noticed similar concerns about communication and consistency. Even if each case is different, the overlap is enough to raise caution. A business like this relies heavily on trust between the seller and the customer. Right now, based on how this was handled, that trust just isn't there for me. I'd recommend being very thorough--ask detailed questions, document everything, and don't rely solely on the listing descriptions.
