This is definitely one is the worst experiences I have ever had when dealing with a business. I brought in my PSP for a simple repair since it's my childhood one and I want to play it again. I gave them the PSP in the end of June. They told me it should be 1-2 weeks, which is fine. I come to pick it up, they tell me it's on our desk next to be repaired, told me to come back in 3 days. I come back and they tell me the same exact thing. I'm now in August and feel like I'm getting played. Not sure of the technicians name who helped me but I called around 4pm with a pretty serious problem in my opinion. My wedding video was stuck in my PS4 and have been putting off getting my Playstation fixed and he said it could take a few days to fix it and get the disk out. Which I was fine with. So I brought it in expecting it to be fixed by the end of the week. When I got there he asked if I had a few minutes to kind of hang out Which I did and he fixed it and had my wedding video out within a half-hour I was so freaking happy I would absolutely go here again and I will always recommend this place to anyone who needs video games or consoles. It was my first time going and I experienced pretty bad customer service. They had misplaced my Xbox and put the wrong phone number under it so I wouldn't have been notified when it would be ready. When I called about picking my Xbox they mention it would be ready "tomorrow" yet that happened 4 times within a month 1/2. Last time I called they mentioned it would be ready a week later when they previously told me it would have been ready to pick up next day which confused me so I still showed up the next day to see what was going on. Turns out it was on their shelf the whole time. when I asked to make sure it worked and have them plug in they were rude and told me they didn't have time for it. Honestly didn't know what was going on but they looked understaffed and frustrated, managers didn't know what was going on either, hopefully they can manage to get better. Love how helpful they can be with questions, it's kinda cozy in there and some things are a little spender than I remember. But some times memory fails me. Was a great game store, now there is a problem. They started putting large stickers on their DvD's, and then those metallic stickers from the 80' on their cartridges. This is pretty much ensuring that any game that goes through their store will come out the other side in worse condition. Store stickers have alway been the bane of Video games resellers. I only went in here to shop for movies but I assume that this applies to the other items they sell too. There is a decent selection of Blu-Ray movies but none of them are priced. This is because when you go to buy one, the guy behind the counter just scans the barcode and bases his offer on eBay sold listings. This was already a red flag, but then he offered me $50 (which would have been "$60 or maybe more" if the seal wasn't torn) for a movie I could get brand new on Amazon for $30. His basis for this price was an eBay listing for a completely different release of the movie that sold for $70, despite every other listing going for $28-$35. Maybe I could have negotiated, but I didn't feel like it was even worth it since he clearly didn't know anything about what it's worth. I really feel like this kind of thing really defeats the point of shopping at small local stores. In my opinion, the benefit of shopping at stores like yours is to find a fair price that isn't influenced by online resellers that charge inflated prices. It's also good to buy from people that are actually knowledgeable about what they're selling and have collectors' interests in mind. But instead, you guys want to sell at the highest margins you can in the quickest, laziest way possible. I wouldn't even be upset about the high prices if they were based on an actual understanding of why an item costs what it does. But rather than taking the time to do your homework ahead of time and price things yourselves, you choose to take the low-effort approach. Obviously your method has the benefit that you'll never sell anything for less than it's worth, but no one will choose to shop at your store if they can get the same prices (or better) online. It's really hostile to collectors who want to support smaller businesses and actually appreciate the games/movies for more than just their resale price. If you buy a rare/expensive game or movie off of someone for a low price, it'd be nice to pass at least some of that discount down to the customer. That way, there's actual incentive for people to shop at your store and you can still make a profit. I understand wanting to get the best price for what you have, but if you want to sell things at high reseller prices, sell them on eBay. Likewise if you're someone who's willing to pay the higher prices, you're better off shopping on eBay where there's more selection. I hope you guys change your strategy because it's a cool store and I think there's a way to run it that could benefit everyone. read more

We Have shopped in this place a lot, and have a credit within the store, but we will strongly take this in consideration in the future. Extremely disappointed in the staff. So reading some of the reviews I was worried about this place, but went on anyway. It is a small store in a sketchy area, especially when it's dark. The bars over the windows and doors don't help. Once inside it's packed with all console games you can imagine, and I mean Atari to the latest in hundreds. Looking through the old cartridge games I found many that were beat up and dirty, with some being unusable. Once I got to the disk games many were scratched up and it seemed like the prices didn't consider scratched or incomplete vs pristine. I saw some games locked up while the same one was on a shelf. They did have a lot of OEM and aftermarket accessories with some older ones being in the box. Once I dug through and searched I found some games I wanted. I then had to wait on the only other customer in the store as they were having to use a cd scratch remover device on a few of the games they were buying. I would think they should do that beforehand while cleaning up cases and testing games, but maybe their clientele doesn't mind. Once I got to the counter the guy was emotionless and made fun of all the games I bought in a condescending way. He did give me a deal since I told him several others I wanted didn't seem in playable condition. There seem to be several of these around the area so I will try something else when I'm back in town. read more

Video game stores like this are becoming a rarity these days and the gaming community should value and support stores like this. Every time I come in I see people shopping around in person and enjoying the experience of going to the local video game store. I even see kids buying older consoles and games that appeal to them more than modern games, which makes me happy and reminds me of when I was younger and got to go to the game store to buy a new game in person, and how much I've always enjoyed that experience. They've always given me fair prices, always have fixed any issues I've had with any used games or hardware I've purchased with no issues, and they always give great customer service that you can't buy and can't replace. Fantastic Prices and collection of games! My wife and I came in towards the end of the day to see what they had. We ended up buying a PS1 mini and a couple of games to have a blast from the past, childhood days. We were so impressed by the honest fair pricing and the vide collection of games. The store is incredibly small but there's so much jam packed in there. I saw games and attachments for consoles I haven't seen in years, best part was that they were all fairly priced. I love that the majority of the games are stored in cabinets based off genre and console. They have a bunch of new controllers for all sorts of consoles and HDMI adapters to enjoy the retro games on newer TVs. Do yourself a favor and come here and support this business. Retro Game Trader off Farmington is not worth the drive unless you're a MINT collector. The prices here are far superior to anything you'd find there. This game store is the last one in town competing with Retro Game Trader. read more

Sold me the wrong game, then refused a refund. I asked for Shrek for GBA video. They gave me Shrek 2, with the price sticker placed so that it covered the 2. After paying and peeling the sticker away, I saw that it wasn't the cartridge I had asked for. When I pointed this out to the employee, he told me he couldn't refund me, he could only offer in-store credit. Uh, dude. You didn't give me the cartridge I asked for. And you put a sticker over the only thing that would warn me that you're giving me the wrong cartridge, a sticker I can't remove until you hand it to me, which you won't do until I've paid for it. Are you seeing the fucked up business practices here? Am I supposed to check every disc in every case, too, to make sure you didn't slip in the wrong one to cheat me out of my money? Have whatever policy you want, but if YOU fuck up, either fix the mistake or give the customer their money back. Especially if I hadn't even left the damn store. This is the kind of shit that separates the good game shops from the douchey ones. P.S. Also dude the New 2DS XL is $99 new, why are you charging $150 for a used one? read more

Came here for their grand opening and while extremely busy, they did really well. I'm always happy to see smaller stores compete with the big gaming retail companies so will support these guys. So they tried to charge $35 for a USED ps3 controller...got him down to $30 (still too much)... And it doesn't work at all. This was my favorite place up until 3 months ago but now after I get my refund, I am done with this place. They also reduced their buyback rate from 50 percent of posted sale price to 40 percent on games. UPDATE: So I go back to the store the next day because he sold me a controller that didnt even work, expecting a refund, as he told me the day I bought it on the phone that I could. He refused to honor what he said and told me I could only have a store credit.... THIRTY BUCKS!! Why in the HELL would I want a credit in a store that I would not be frequentlng again???? Come to find out, he vindictively sold me the only UNtested controller in the store, even though he had other ones he COULD have sold me but chose this one because I voiced my displeasure with the stores practices after this manager taking over. There was a big ta-doo and he ultimately called the police to have me kicked out of the store after he was an asshole to me in front of other customers. I then informed him I would be filing a small claims complaint against the business and asked for the owners name. He told me it was on the website. First time there was about 1 month ago, looking for N64 controllers. Called ahead and was told they had new and OEM controllers. Everything was as described, prices were fair they also surprised me with their selection of Games for the N64. The man was very friendly, answered all my questions, after purchasing about 4 items he even brought down the prices on all the items. Highly recommended. "$20 or $25, maybe more..." was the price quote I received when asking how much for an un-priced game. This is of course being spoken while the employee is surfing eBay on their phone right in front of me... I want to like this place but there are several reasons after a few visits why I just can't recommend Video Game Wizards. The store is very disorganized and not customer friendly. The pricing is either decent or doesn't exist at all. If it doesn't exist, you'll be quoted a "variance" of prices based on eBay or "maybe higher". They do have a large inventory packed into a super small store without shelf space or the desire to price and categorize. My most recent interaction has completely turned me off from this place and I won't be frequenting this business much in the future. read more

It is amazing how much product Video Game Wizards squeezes into their space. It is just this tiny shop that is overshadowed (visually) by the 7-11 next door. Yeah, its that small. Its easy to lose track of time while navigating through all of the movies and games they have. You can vaguely decipher some sort of organization...or at least...that it was organized at some point. I suppose when the search is half the fun, its a good time just to browse for a while and it is unlikely I will leave without a few purchases. The store is generally overcrowded (for its size) and understaffed. The staff is always friendly but it looks like they have to work so hard. Perhaps cutting labor is the downside of the inexpensive prices. At VGW you can find movies for cheap! Cheaper then it would be to rent them in most cases. Most of the ones I've bought are just $2-3. They also have a decent variety of games and on older consoles as well. That is, in fact, how I found myself at VGW the first time. I was searching for a difficult to find video game for the xbox. I had gone all over town for a game that I wanted that night (and therefore didn't want to find online). After several stops I found myself at a store at Clackamas Town Center. After being told "no" by another game store employee, I was told that their Vancouver location had a copy of the game, but that it was decently scratched up. A customer who overheard my problem came up behind me and handed me a card for VGW. He told me that they have a killer buffer that could probably fix the scratched disk and that they might even carry the game! I headed out to this store and was pleasantly surprised to find that they not only had the game I was searching for, but it was only $11! This was almost half the price of anywhere else! There's a lot to love about Video Game Wizards...so much so that it is quite sad that it is literally buried beneath so much product; only a few customers can actually fit inside the store at any given time. Yes, there are tons of vintage titles for those like myself who are inclined towards bolstering their own collection, but the massive display cabinets that dominate the center of the floor space don't do them any favors. For example, most of the space chock full of DVDs - I know that it is tempting for game stores to trade in movies in order to "take advantage" of a side market, but really, I am going to step out on a limb here and suggest that they pay out WAY more in credit on movies than they receive in profit from people who actually buy them. Those DVDs have got to go. Another problem is that their actually salable items are locked away out of sight - boxed games, import gems, etc...most of them remain out of sight or sitting behind the counter in less-than-obvious locations. All in all, a solid store with great stock...you might have a hard time finding it, though. read more

Where has this place been my whole life???? I wandered in here with some time to kill after browsing yelp for suggestions on nearby businesses in the area. I am so glad i did! This is a small and packed store which can be overwhelming but to me is part of what makes this place so great! Their selection of movies and games is out of control! As they say everything from atari to now! They have lots of retro systems (30 day warranty on all of their equipment) for what i felt were super reasonable prices (not only less than what youll find online but no shipping AND instant gratification). Their games are also priced right within the ranges of what youll find online and some a little lower (10 day period to return for instore credit only)! I came in to check out their selection of super nintendo and wii games, and was pleased with what they had to offer. I ended up getting a few for each system (im telling you, their pricea are awesome). I had been considering replacing my old jungle green n64 for quite some time, but hadnt found a good local store as my previous favorite had closed. I asked if she had any n64s in stock and she had a few options -including my coveted jungle green. I walked away with it too plus 2 games to get my old collection started. The system includes all the chords + 1 controller. They have older original controllers but also sell new controllers made by third parties, which i of course had to purchase so i can get groups going! She took the time to clean the machine off and plug it in to the tv so i could check it out and verify it worked which i thought was great. speaking of the service, Lacy was working at the time and I have to say I was impressed with her. The store was busy, she was the only one working and having multiple conversations with people, helping folks find their desired items, ringing up sales and also helping folks who came in to sell their items! The amount she took on was impressive and she also executed as though each person was the only one there. I would recommend this shop to anyone whos in the market for video games. These guys are rad. Came in looking for a replacement NES as my old one bricked out, and got one here cheap. The guy even subtracted the cable/controller prices since I didn't need them. It works perfectly. He also tested it on their TV right in front of me before selling it which I thought was extremely nice. It's nice that Video Game Wizards has such a large selection of games and dvds, but that's actually part of the problem... I think the place is supposed to be organized alphabetically, but lots of things seem out of place/you have to dig through their bins to find something. With such a large stock, the store itself isn't easy to be in... The aisles are big enough for only a little more than one person, so you always have to be constantly shuffling around to let someone pass by. As far as selection, this place does have stuff all the way back to the NES, which is nice for old school gamers. Everything is also pretty cheap as compared to most major used game retailers (cough cough Gamestop), so it's a nice way to check out old school games for cheap. My personal favorite thing about this place it their disc buffering machine. One of our copies of a 360 game was severely scratched. We tried taking it to another place, but they probably just made the problem worse... It took a bit of time, but Video Game Wizards got the product to work like new, so props to them. Overall, it's a bit small of a place with a whole lot in it, but it's a nicer and cheaper alternative than most used game outlets. read more

The staff was friendly but a little sketchy, pretty normal for these types of places. The one complaint I would have about this place is the faint smell of old cigarettes. I love this neighborhood store because they have the specific game or movie I'm looking for 98% of the time and I usually also find awesome things there that you wouldn't expect. Great selection on newer and older games. I rebuilt my N64 game collection through this place.
