Rick's Recycled Books is the best book store in the city of Rochester. Yes, I know, there's Barnes…read more& Noble in Pittsford, and if you're looking for a Starbucks latte or kid's toys that's a nice place to go too. But if you're looking for an incredible selection of books stacked floor to ceiling. amazing science fiction paperbacks or mysteries, walls of fiction classic or modern, books on history, self-help, the occult, you name it, this has always been my go-to spot. It's wonderful, it's affordable, you can lose yourself for hours there. A real ornament to the city of Rochester. There is one sad thing about it, however. Recently Rick, the founder and owner, passed away from pancreatic cancer. His son Richard has taken it over, but Richard also is facing spinal surgery and will have to close the shop for at least two months if he can't find a replacement to watch the bookstore while he's recovering, or cover the bills. A friend of the shop created a Gofundme page for Richard and Rick's Recycled Books at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-with-medical-bills-and-money-to-keep-my-store The loss of the bookstore would leave a vast, vast hole in the intellectual life of this city, and any reader of this review who can help, should. If only to celebrate the memory of Rick Senior himself, a great guy, and the creator of the best bookstore this town has.

Showed the employee working a picture of the item and he went out of his way to get this for us. He explained some of inventory was in boxes due to returning from a convention, but he would look into it. He sent a picture to the manager who confirmed they had the item and he went into the boxes to grab it for us. He really made a huge difference for us, as this was the only thing our 7 year old wanted for their birthday. The employee was so helpful in answering any questions we had and made our experience pleasant. The selection at the store is great and we enjoyed browsing the variety of products. Will be shopping here again!

If we start with merchandise, you can find almost anything you could be looking for. Figures, trading cards, pins, international snacks, stationary, drink water, clothing, plushes, mangas, movies... should I keep going, because I absolutely can! The selection is huge and regularly changing. It can be a bit hard to find older anime/manga merch but as of yesterday I was able to find some Trigun(1997) items which I thought was fun! If you or your children like Pokémon, you're in for a treat!! The staff knows so much about everything!! Each of them are the human Wikipedia of their favorite genres. It's so refreshing to be able to ask if they know something like --- and be directed to something you will love! They are welcoming and warm, if you have questions don't hesitate to ask. You will be helped and educated! The atmosphere is comfortable! You don't have to worry about feeling out of place, this place is welcoming to all. The TV in the front is always playing a different anime which is a cool way to find new anime's to watch! My husband and I started playing in the Pokémon and Final Fantasy card tournaments just recently and everyone is so warm it's wonderful. We instantly felt welcomed. If you like Anime, Manga, international TV/Movies I'd highly suggest going!

The bottom floor has the regular Barnes and Noble, the Starbucks, and the RIT clothes and souvenirs while the top floor has text books and supplies (photo and computer supplies are still in the SAU by where Campus Connections used to be). Yes the prices are a tad higher on some of the art supplies and texts books but these are things that are overpriced almost anywhere (except for online) and convenience is key not to mention they now have a parking lot (which Campus Connections never had). Besides when you're paying almost 40k a year for school, who cares if they're charging you $80 for a $60 text book or $10 for a $6 paint brush? This whole new area of the campus is gorgeous and I wish it was around when I was going there. I'd recommend sucking up negatives, it's a great store and if you still feel emo about the prices then go get a few drinks at the new bar in the same parking lot.

As someone with severe asthma, I just couldn't stay in this store for very long. Just not my cup of tea, but might be yours. They had a very large selection of a wide range of used books, and it was very well organized and pretty tidy compared to other used bookstores. They sell really quality literature on a variety of topics, especially music (fitting, given the nearby Eastman School of Music), and also including religion, fiction, technology and more. There's definitely a theme of rare, old, obscure and intriguing books on all subjects - the main running theme seems to be whatever is genuinely interesting, by any definition. Also, although there's no seating, I do appreciate that the place is not overly stuffed to the brim with books and doesn't feel overwhelming, but rather, pleasantly full of options to peruse and explore. The owner is always very nice; I (at least) once had a great conversation with her. I haven't bought a lot here, but I once purchased a beautiful book of Saul Steinberg's artwork for a relatively good price. It's well worth browsing the shelves here, maybe preceded or followed by a visit to Java's Café on Gibbs. Buy something if you can, and support a local treasure!

Don't get me wrong they have just about everything crystal you will ever need. They also have books, tarot cards, candles, incense, accessories and more. While I was looking around they were setting up for I believe tarot readings and etc. Staff is friendly and helpful. When you want to check out where do you go up front or the smaller area? This is minor but it's something that might have to be made more apparent. This is a great location as it's larger and they can do a lot with it. They also have classes and events check the website.
