Our recent annual maintenance service with Gammon's Heating & Cooling was an excellent experience, thanks to technicians Tyler and Aaron. Their technical proficiency was evident throughout the visit. They serviced our nine wall units and two outdoor condensing units with care, attention to detail, and a clear commitment to doing the job correctly. Although our heat pumps were originally purchased and installed by Gammon's, this was our first full annual maintenance under their service program. We had expected the work to occur in early fall or mid‑winter, but due to a high volume of emergency heating calls, the company requested that we defer to spring. While the delay was understandable, it highlighted the importance of strong scheduling and dispatch coordination. During the visit, Tyler and Aaron identified several condensate drains that had not yet been tied into the sewer system and completed that final installation step. This proactive work likely prevented future moisture‑related damage to walls or flooring, and we are grateful for their diligence. Their problem‑solving skills, tenacity, and customer‑focused approach stood out and gave us confidence in the long‑term reliability of our equipment. We did choose to upgrade to a more comprehensive maintenance plan and look forward to having our annual service scheduled just ahead of the winter heating season. We recommend Gammon's Heating & Cooling and believe the company delivers strong technical service. One area of opportunity is dispatching and scheduling. It would be helpful for dispatch to confirm the number of units at a customer's home, understand where equipment is located, and estimate the appropriate number of technicians needed. Additionally, providing more accurate arrival windows--or proactive updates when schedules shift--would help customers avoid waiting longer than expected. Overall, the quality of the technicians' work was excellent, and with some refinements to scheduling and communication, the customer experience could be even stronger. We look forward to their handyman sheet rocker coming to patch and match wall section removed and their electrician coming to correct ground fault circuit that appears to be missing a neutral wire. read more

Absolutely awful. Since I posted my first review, we found out that two of our units were faultily installed. One led to widespread leaking (where they didn't attach the hose properly to the unit to have it drain out) that ruined our second floor ceiling and destroyed a closet. Over a year later, we started to see our living room unit leak water profusely. An agent was sent out yesterday to fix it, but lacked a ladder and said he would be back. He never was, and attempts to get someone out here again have been met with bald faced lies - "we have no record of a visit set up." These people do not install these heat pumps correctly. We have had widespread damage to our house as a result of their negligence. Do not use them EVER. Not only is their installation crappy and negligent, but their communication is faulty and suspect. Gammon's did routine service for our heat pump and oil furnace until last year. After inspecting the oil furnace service was suggested to replace the liner in the boiler. Every time the unit was touched something else broke. At one point I was charged six hundred dollars to tap out and and re-thread a single bolt broken in the removal attempt. When I gave up after several thousand dollars and said ok lets replace the furnace their senior tech asked the owner to reduce the costs towards the new unit by crediting me expenses for the failed repair. That was refused and to add insult to the matter I was charged at least double what their cost was for the boiler (found the unit on the internet). Talked numerous times with an office manager about giving me a break after I discovered the true cost and she kept responding that she would get back to me. That never occurred. read more

This company is now reinventing itself as Fixify. Ripped me off on rebates, shoddy work and staff that continually turns over. Don't dare question them or you will be accused of harassment. Broken promises, no follow up and just horrible. read more

Gammon's attempted to install a new propane boiler for me. The job took nearly a year after several complaints about boiler malfunctioning/shutting down (in the middle of winter), over heating, water leaks and even a significant propane leak, costing me hundreds of dollars in leaking propane! They signed off on the job with several connections leaking propane. They left many things undone and not to code. I had to get the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation Maine Fuel Board involved with a inspection (which was very helpful) for them to come back out and address the issues. The owner never answered any of my e-mails/calls about these issues (even the concern about LEAKING PROPANE). I still have a thermostat that isn't working correctly and have just had to leave it off. I placed a complaint with the Maine Attorney General and yet have come to a resolution. I will say that the office staff was very helpful and pleasant. read more

Ok, update, the same day I posted the previous review I got a text from Gammon's saying that the owner was going to try to come by to take a look. He arrived that evening around 7:30pm, very pleasant man, very sorry to hear about the things that had happened in the past as he was apparently unaware. I apologized that he had to come out so late and his reply was "I am a business owner that what is what I do". He discovered that there was a refrigerant leak and then said he would return the next day as he did not have the tools to fix it with him. I was not going to be there in the morning but he was okay with my 2 very large dogs, and by the time I got back from my class that morning the unit had been repaired and I had AC!!!! So, in all fairness, my review based on this last visit is a 5. I still can not ignore the prior issues but I feel as if the owner of the company does care and wants to do the right thing. Senior citizens beware!! This company will take advantage of you. They did my elderly mom. She thought she was on a service plan yet they charged her $400 every time they came out in addition to monthly $35 fee. On top of that the service technicians don't seem to know what they are doing. Due to their negligence her system was almost ruined because a simple switch had not been flipped appropriately. She had to hire another company to fix. read more

My AC system failed last summer. I contacted several HVAC installers and got written estimates from all of them. After carefully evaluating all estimates, it was clear that Gammon's offered the highest quality products at fair / ball park price (fair and honest). Removal of my old system and installation of the new cooling system which included upgrading my heating system, was performed in a clean and efficient manor without problems or delays. Bottom Line: VERY SATISFIED. Plenty of cold dry air for the Summer months and more heat than I've ever had for the Winter months. I highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs.
