Have been a customer of another company for a couple years and have always been treated with respect and good service. This week, my mini split unit started leaking water. I called them to request service and it was almost like I was bothering them. I was given a first available appointment 27 days in the future. Can you believe it; 27 days!!! This is hot, humid, rainy Maine in the summer. I reiterated I was an existing customer and tried to impress on her that this was somewhat urgent and asked for a sooner date. I was told there was nothing sooner but she would escalate to a manager who would call me. 2 days later, I haven't received a call.... In the meantime, I called LaPlante Home Services who said they could be here in under 48 hours. They were polite and seemed excited that I called. The technician arrived at exactly the appointed time, did a thorough analysis of my problem, and completed the work in a little over an hour. The technician was friendly, courteous and professional. Called to have some work done on my ac talked to a few different people there about my project they were going to make plans to come out an get my ac running at the last minute after making me wait about a week told me they decided not to do the job without even looking at the work they make a big deal on their tv commercials about how they do all this work and help everyone but they could seem to come to my house run a new line set from A to B an evacuate the system an fill with new refrigerant Pretty simple job yet refused to do it on a brand new system an brand new house I would not recommend to anyone! There were 2 visits, one to evaluate the site, roof (if your roof is not in great shape, it must be replaced before solar) and plan the installation with 2 guys, the 2nd was the installation with 4 guys. In April 2024, I contacted Laplante regarding a malfunctioning mini-split heat pump that was not heating or cooling. A technician spent several hours troubleshooting and ultimately injected dye into the system to locate a suspected leak, which was identified in the coil. I've since learned that dye injection is not considered best practice in the industry due to the risk of corrosion and blockages. Following this, Laplante quoted us a significant amount to replace the coil--likely because the dye injection voided the manufacturer's warranty. When we sought help from other companies, several refused to work on the system specifically because dye had been introduced. It took us several months to find a company willing to assist. During that time, we were forced to purchase portable air conditioners to maintain livable conditions in our home--an added and unexpected expense. We returned to Laplante for support, but they again declined to help us. Additionally, the original service visit was poorly documented, leaving us without a clear record of the technician's actions or any notes on the risks introduced. This experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. The lack of accountability, refusal to assist after introducing a controversial method, and the absence of proper documentation have led us to lose confidence in Laplante's services. As a result, we will not be using or recommending Laplante Electric in the future. read more

They installed mini splits for me in 2024 and did a great job. In 2025 while in Florida I wanted a new oil tank for back up and they were able to get the old one out of my 120 yr old house and the new one in without issue. I did not have to leave Florida. read more

Don't hire they don't do the work and charge you for it paid $225 guy was there only 4 minutes claimed to brush and vacuum did not get done. After speaking To owner who was rude told me his nephew did it and he'll have him reach out to me. His nephew text me stating sorry you couldn't call me. He was at a concert. Guys were terrific. I had tried to push the reset button on electrical outlet with my finger -- no go. They used a pointed tool which worked. Very simple fix and they were in and out in 10 minutes. I had called the day before, so quick service. And they were very reassuring when I expressed how idiotic I felt. read more

I actually liked their service...and had two great experiences! but lately NO NO they came for a 4oo dollar repair to my garage plug..did a nice job while here... asked if they would look at an outdoor lantern...and they said NO..too cold and icy..I totally understood! but then I got a estimate..for an evaluation of the lantern...500 dollars...and when asked ..they confirmed a repair... a repair without any knowledge of a problem...or any look at the lantern!! think their lack of electriicians in the area..and their rediculous tV ads..might have gone to their heads... will not use them or recommend them'! read more

We made an appointment to have our system maintenance completed. No other questions/issues were raised during the booking call. We waited a few weeks for the service date and the arrival time came and went. We called to inquire and were told they didn't install our system so they won't service it. Really wish they would have let us know that during the call or in the weeks leading up to the appointment. We lost a day of work waiting for an appointment that never happened and had to wait again to find someone else to do the work. The commercials should say that the only way you are protected from the dark and stormy is if you bought everything from them. Otherwise, you're left out in the cold read more

We hired LaPlante Electric based upon the Yelp reviews, and we can confirm the other five star reviews. We had a number of issues to be addressed based upon the inspection report we had for the new house we'd bought. Dave and a crew of two came promptly and spent four hours going through each and every item on the list, including the hard-wiring installation of three new smoke detectors and three new smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. Also, they took out a non-working microwave over the stove and in its place installed a range hood. There was also a double-lugged breaker in the electrical panel that was fixed, and several instances of exposed wiring were addressed. There were a number of other issues, all of which were neatly, quickly and carefully rectified. All of the people involved - particularly Dave, who is a Master Electrician - were extremely professional, courteous, conscientious, efficient, and they all cleaned up after they were through. Moreover, we felt that what we were charged for the work involved was more than reasonable. We are so pleased that, now that we are looking at installing a generator, we will be going to LaPlante for that job as well. I had a whole home generator installed at the end of March at that time they were supposed to install power to my shed, that part of the installation had to be put off because the shed was going to be moved to a different location. The job was completed today after the moving of the shed. I couldn't be happier with the professional people that were sent to do the job, Scott finished things up today and did a great job when finished he cleaned up the area like he was never here and took time to explain what he did, I found a another company who would do the job a little cheaper but chose Laplante because they were full service I didn't need another company to set up the propane and CMP to set up the electric and I'm so happy I did, I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and Laplante Electric was about and beyond what was expected. read more

I hired these folks to fix some botched wiring done by previous owner. They fix it after quite a bit of troubleshooting, but I had a slight problem with the rearrangement of the switch's. Called, they send their owner, master electrician and original electrician out the next day and took care of everything! Then even refunded me the service fee!
