Gladys and Eddie guests at the murder mystery dinner
    Holly M.

We attended the murder mystery dinner and then stayed for the dueling pianos. Murder mystery dinner was fun, the food was ok. Drinks at the bar were great! They only had one piano player that night but he was all we needed! He was fun and fantastic! The place itself feels like you've stepped into a real bar in the 1930s. Piano player took requests and was engaging and the music was great. Don't miss out on a fun night out!

I really enjoyed my time and had a great experience! Received a Groupon as a gift and decided to use it on our 1 year anniversary. This place only opens on the weekends and reservations are required. There are two piano performers so if you have requests, prepare to bring in some cash for tips. My boyfriend and I dined in on a Saturday around 8:00 pm. It was somewhat busy, but we got great seats. If you are wanting a quiet romantic dinner, this is not the place. It can get loud, but we were expecting it. We started out with drinks and an appetizer. They have a fair selection of craft beers, wines and specialty cocktail list. Our appetizer was the Bugsy which is potato skins topped with cheese, bacon and Mac & Cheese. Very delish! We got the appetizer really quick! For dinner, I got the bourbon salmon. Comes with mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day (green beans w/ham). You also get a side salad to start off with (which was fresh and a good amount). My boyfriend got the champagne chicken (breaded chicken topped with champagne sauce which is thick and very tasty) sides were the same as mine. We got our meals at a reasonable time and I enjoyed every bite. The bourbon salmon was cooked right and flaky and the sauce was sweet and delicious. We got a brownie as our dessert! Yum! As the night went on, we enjoyed the selections of music! They even played two of our requests which was old school hair band (Motley Crue) and Del Shannon. The crowds were cheering on and was really into it. Such great energy. The servers were really generous and friendly but short staffed but it was okay with us because we weren't in any hurry and enjoying the entertainment. The decor has that old Vegas feel which I loved very much. The inside is very dimmed with cool lighting. Overall, my boyfriend and I enjoyed it and will definitely return.

So this place can totally give you the wrong vibe, at all times throughout the night. It's almost like it's not sure what it wants to be... which makes it great!! When we first got there a little after 7:30 on a saturday night, and as soon as we walked in we wondered if we were at the right place, and if being in jeans, no matter the heals or dress shirts, if we were grossly underdressed. One of the hosts told the other a table number and we told him we were just looking for the bar. Around to the right he directed us, and as we turned the corner, the thoughts we had at the door grew stronger. but we found some seats at the bar, and the bartender immediately put our mind at ease. The show doesn't normally start until 8:30 but they're trying to get started sooner especially if there's a lot of people here. So we ordered some drinks, and then discovered they have Buckets, or as the bartender put it, "buckets of booze" that were themed to the place as well. We ordered a Heading for the Border, that was like a giant margarita, and under $17 dollars, and totally worth it. The drinks are reasonable, and it seems the crowd really picks up after 9-9:30, and you realize there's people from all walks of life here. Old, young, classy, normal, it doesn't matter. The pianos are positioned right down the middle of the place with the tables/restaurant on one side and the bar, with some stage side seating on the other. There's some really nice private rooms in the back for parties, gatherings, and what not. There is also a seperate smoking room to the left when you first walk in that has doors on it and windows so you can see the stage if you need to take a smoke break without going outside, or invading anyone elses breathing area. I definately want to give this place a try for a late dinner and stay for the show sometime. They play a bunch of different music, and if you really want them to play a song, tip them nicely and they'll get to it sooner. And it doesn't seem any song is too new, too old, or too wierd for them.

Piano man play me a song lol

First time in the Dueling Piano Bar. Had a fun time. The musicians were interactive and engaging. Our Bartender who's name I believe was Kristen was wonderful. Attentive to our needs quick to refill drinks and she even sang. Very good singer and was just fun to b around. We went for drinks so did not order food. Drink prices were ok and drinks were well made not too strong but far from diluted. All in all a fun time.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Was really surprised to have to add it on Yelp. Gangster's is located where the old Syndicate restaurant used to be. The theme of course is old Newport, Al Capone style. They're only open Thursday- Saturday, but that works for them. When you walk in, it feels like you stepped back in time, but in a very good way. The dueling pianos are fun, and everyone joins along. Thursday nights they even allow guests to come up and take the mic. There's a nice sized dance floor and even a pole to swing on. The food is pretty good, nothing fancy, but they have half priced apps on Thursdays. Also, great drink specials! FUN cocktail menu!! Highly recommend Pushing Up Daisies, Public Enemy #1, and Swimming With the Fishes (which actually has Swedish fish floating in your drink!!). The best part of Gangsters by far, is the amazing bar staff. Hogan and Kristi make it happen!! They both are performers which makes it extra fun, and they treat you like family immediately. Highly recommend for a date, a night out, or large parties!

We picked this location initially with the guest count being are only criteria, but we were almost immediately surprised by so much more. The view, the gorgeous interiors, and the rich history were all things that finally led us to choose this as our venue for our wedding. But, above all else, was the venue owner - Roger Swonger. He went above and beyond to make our day as special as it possibly could be, and with his help, our wedding day went absolutely perfect. With just one planning session, and a couple of tours, Roger was able to guide us through the perfect day. He communicated well with all of the vendors, was able to provide an amazing wait staff, and bartender, and even thought of the small details - placing some flowers on our small wedding cake, putting a pen by the guest book, etc. Most importantly to us, as a now husband and husband duo, was finding a venue that was accepting. This was Roger to a tee - not only did he treat us with kindness, he guided us towards other LGBTQ+ friendly vendors as well. With his support and guidance, we had a wedding that completely surpassed our exceptions of what a wedding could ever look like in an area like Kentucky. I don't think there is any universe where we could have had a better wedding, and this is all thanks to Roger, and all thanks to having our wedding ceremony at Wiedemann Hill Mansion.

Also loved that they had porch heaters and blankets so you could still enjoy the view and be warm. The place is perfect for a 60 person wedding and really not crowded at all.

Special thanks to Ali and Trevor for always being available to promptly address any inquiries. The culinary experience at The Monastery was an absolute standout, with countless guests praising the exquisite hors d'oeuvres, the tempting grazing table at the cocktail hour, the well-stocked and quick-moving bars, and, especially the dinner itself, which exceeded restaurant quality.
