Under those circumstances, clear and consistent communication was absolutely critical. Several aspects of our experience stood out. First and foremost, the quality of the work was exceptional. The finished product is beautiful, and the attention to detail is evident throughout the entire house. Second, during the planning phase, Prime Design provided a comprehensive list of decisions we needed to make--from flooring and countertops to every light fixture and faucet. This created a clear roadmap for the project, helped us select items that complemented one another, and documented every choice along the way. As a result, there were no surprises when the project was completed. Finally, because we were still living out of state during much of the construction, regular communication was essential. We received frequent progress updates and photos, which allowed us to monitor the work, confirm that everything met our expectations, and feel confident that the project was moving in the right direction. Weeks later the painting and repair was not done, he had resorted to requesting early payment, would show up to work only part of a day and then vanish if paid a portion of the money. Said he would hire a subcontractor to help with the work, but in the end seemed to possibly have used his girlfriend on a single day. The quality of the paint work (though unfinished) was extremely poor, with overspray everywhere that never got cleaned. When we complained about the overspray of the latex paint, he claimed he would clean it up with paint thinner (impossible) but then never did.
