I accidentally pulled wires out of my garage door sensor and was not able to fix them. I called the Garage Door Doctor and they were able to squeeze me in the next day. They used text messaging to communicate with me which was easy and convenient. They sent me one notification that the appointment had been scheduled with the time range (2 hour block). They also sent me one the next day when the technician was on the way that included his name and picture. That's very helpful so you know who to expect upon arrival. Daniel was awesome. He showed me how to potentially fix it myself if I accidentally did it again and he also fully checked my door, making sure that everything was lubricated and checked to the condition of the moving parts. We also looked at my external garage door opener that I have never been able to use the entire time that I've lived here. He was able to help me determine that it was not operator error, but that the external panel did not work. I would highly recommend Garage Door Doctor. Their prices are reasonable. Our garage door has been catching and won't open all the way, has happened several occasions, so I called and got same day service. The technician was really nice, but he did not do anything. Of course the garage door would not malfunction while he was here, but he sprayed what was the equivalent of WD-40 on the rollers and charged me $220.00 for a service call. I should have asked how much before I made the appointment, lesson learned. Show me something for $220. He did not get on a ladder and look at the chains, he did absolutely nothing except watch me open and close the door, then spray lubricant on the rollers. Used them in the past and they did good work. Not so much anymore. 700 bucks for cheap Chinese made rollers, 2 door seals and to adjust one door. Main reason had them out was to fix the top rail that was mounted incorrectly and the tech didn't seem to care. Said "the bolt don't tighten up anymore". After he left I spent two hours fixing it myself to Liftmasters specs, removing the incorrect install and installed a 2x4 and remounted it. Underwhelming service and overpriced. Update. Door hardware is bent from their halfa$$ installation of cheap nylon rollers. Rather than taking the time to install them properly the tech just bent the door track with channel locks. This place is a fraud. The company came out and charged $125 without inspecting a thing. They left with opener making all kinds of noises but still working. Literally two weeks later the Unit stops working. Metal sprockets on gear completely stripped and obvious if one actually looked at them. I called another service company who couldn't believe they missed something so obvious. Takes advantage of the elderly. First time was taking an 86 year old to small claims court for $50 which was her fault not knowing what she was doing. I cleared up the mess and requested that her name, address and phone number be flagged because she is not remembering things. She called them to check out a noise her door was making....I get notice $2500 check was written. When I called for the service record....replaced the entire door and motor. Not only did they not red flag her account, we believe the noise was a panel that could have been repaired. Beware if you have elderly parents....they do NOT care and will take them for their money. They don't stand behind their work. Hired Garage Door Doctor (GDD) to install 2 new rollup doors in new construction shop I am building. Garage Door Doctor rep came out and specified best door for us to install, we ordered doors from them and had them installed by GDD which turned out to be a sub-contractor. Unfortunately, 1 door did not fit correctly so their sub-contractor just moved the door to fit... read NOT level, and down to low due to ceiling being in the way, it still destroyed sheetrock on ceiling where the door hit it when opened. The sub-contractor says the GC and homeowner said it was ok... we did not, homeowners were not even there. We made it known it was not right to Jeff and he sent them back out, they said it would be 900$ to rehang the door after ceiling was fixed AT OUR EXPENSE! Had another company come out to look to fix and they pointed out numerous issues with the other door not being hung correctly either. They have provided a quote but I want Garage Door Doctor to make it right and prove their website isn't a lie... "Our garage door installation experts are highly trained. So in case anyone needs garage door repair, I cannot recommend the garage door doctor. They installed a new opener for us today and left. When I went to look at what they had done I found our extension cord hanging from the new opener and dragged through to the other garage and plugged in. Very unprofessional. When I called to ask what was going on the tech told me he forgot to mention we'd have to figure out a way to plug it up. "That's just how it's done." I didn't realize that when I inquired about having an electrics garage door opener installed that I had to specify that I would want it to work. They apologized for not going over anything with is before doing the work but that's it. So tired of dealing with shady companies. read more

My family and I were mislead and misinformed by a technician named Daniel who then proceeded to order a garage door that we did not want. After requesting a refund we were verbally attacked by a supervisor named Alex, called a liar by office personnel Jeff, and hung up on by both Alex and Jeff on two separate occasions. We used their repair services one year ago and previously had good things to say, but it's clear that their priorities and professionalism have drastically changed. While the service was good and quick, they were outrageously expensive for 10 minutes work, $125, which is their service call fee!!! They had fixed my garage door before so I called them to come and program my new garage door openers because my old ones no longer worked. They were literally in my garage for 10 minutes and that included a tune up of my door which I guess is automatic with every service call. They said they would give me a $10 discount off my bill if I wrote a review, after I told them I thought $125 was outrageously expensive (why they would want me to write one after a comment like that, I have no idea). They told us how much it would cost, came out the next day to fix it, called before they came, and did everything they said they would do. I liked it that they lubricated both my garage doors, and they let me know that my lift motor would be the next thing to go. They were nice about it, they also explained what they recommended to be replaced along with the motor when the time came. Overall I liked Garage Door Doctor and felt like I could count on them. I was referred to Garage Door Doctor by a trusted handyman I've used for years. Mark was very helpful in coming over within the hour to provide an estimate on my garage door's motor that was dead. However, I was underwhelmed by his extreme lack of professionalism once he arrived. He took a quick look at my existing Overhead Garage Door system and deemed it a piece of crap and then tried to sell me on one of his units. I will take ownership of not realizing that he may not be in the business of servicing Overhead Garage Door systems...but when I asked an honest question - "should I call Overhead?", he snapped "yeah call Overhead, ", stormed out of my garage, and peeled out of the driveway. We need a new garage door. The ad I heard on the radio stated that garage door doctors does free estimates, never a service charge and you can send them away for any reason. This was not the case. Unfortunately I was not there for the quote and my wife paid the salesperson. When I tried to get it refunded I was given the run around. I finally talked to the owner. He said because if Covid they charge for everything and take as much as they can get. He said he would apply the amount if I bought a door from him. I now see why he has to take every penny he can. I live in Raleigh and had a different experience with Garage Door Doctor than the previous reviewer. Since Garage Door Doctor advertises heavily in my area and because I had used them previously, I hired Garage Door Doctor the second time to replace a troublesome door opener. The technician showed up on time and was very polite. When I got home that evening, I was happy to see his work was done as promised. But there was one bulb missing so I called the tech and asked him to drop by another bulb. Five minutes later, a Garage Door Doctor manager phoned to reveal my previous call had been recorded. In a condescending tone, he told me that bulbs are cheap and I should go buy one. I replied that for $445, Garage Door Doctor should have thrown in a light bulb. He then proceeded to tell me how many customers he had in Raleigh, as if to say my satisfaction matters very little to his overall bottom line. From this incident, it's obvious that Garage Door Doctor has grown so big they have forgotten that a business lives and dies by customer satisfaction. Though the cost of a bulb is indeed a small thing, the attitude of the 'customer service representative' reflects contempt for the customers who have made the company a success. Had lift bracket pull completely out of door. Called them at 10AM, Daniel arrived the same day at 1PM. I've used them twice before, and was always satisfied. He explained what exactly had happened and why it snapped. Installed a new, stronger metal piece over top of old one, lubricated everything, and gave me an estimate for a new door/opener in the future. Average door lasts between 12 and 15 years. Mine is already 17, so I'm beating the odds. Price went up, though, since last visit. Used to be $75, now it's $125. Part was $65, labor was another $125. Labor did seem a bit steep, but I needed it fixed. Would definitely recommend. A prior review accused GDD of putting phony reviews up, I guarantee I'm a customer, and will even post my name and city. Had a problem with our garage door as the spring broke a year or so ago. The guy that came out just complained about how sick he was the whole time he was here! Kept talking about how he shouldn't even be here because he was so sick! He took forever and when he left MY LADDER in the middle of the garage with tools and large bolts on the top step. When I went to put my ladder away the bolt nearly fell on my head. I called to complain, and no one would return my call. During a power outage recently, I unlatched the door to open it manually and the tensioner unraveled. This should not happen this quickly and so I called these guys back. The person answering the phone basically told me if its over a year, it isn't under warranty and he wouldn't check on that till monday (which is two days from now). And if I don't have my receipt he wouldn't honor the warranty anyway. I would not recommend this company again and the only reason that I called them the second time was to find out if their work was under warranty. read more
