Such was the case yesterday when my garage door opener gave up the ghost. I reached out to a buddy who flips houses and asked if he had a provider he liked for that kind of work and without a moment's hesitation he connected me with Royal Garage Door in Lenexa. I called to see about making an appointment and the receptionist was so very helpful in articulating the potential issues I could be facing based on my description of the failure. She set me up for a service call that very afternoon, and my technician, Jeff, arrived just a bit early. I fully expected a worst case scenario diagnosis and a hard sell for new doors and openers. Imagine my surprise when Jeff told me the doors I had were actually in pretty good shape. He talked with me about what was happening on the failed door and made some observations about the door that was still functioning. Not once did he push me to buy something I didn't need. He explained various models of openers available, and he educated me about the way springs should work and showed me where mine were compromised. In return for his excellent information, I requested new springs and openers for both of my garage doors. Jeff came back today to complete the work we discussed. About 6 months later I had an issue with the door not closing all the way and they came out, checked everything and found some gears needed to be cleaned. They're very knowledgable, don't try to take advantage of people, are very respectful and perform quality work for very affordable prices. This is my go-to garage door repair company. It should be yours as well. They aren't owned by private equity like most of the other shops, and from garage doors to plumbing to HVAC repairs I've found the private equity owned one's to be the biggest scammers. He showed up within the hour and fixed my door in an hour as well. I knew my torsion spring was broken but decided to take care of both while he was here. I explained that the door opener seemed to struggle some for the several months, but I was not sure the correct springs were installed by the builder. He looked at the springs and agreed that he had a larger spring that would make it easier for opener and last several thousand more openings. Mark was very quick, clean, and thorough through the whole process. He lubricated every single part on both my doors not just the one that was broken. He adjusted the chain on one opener. Then he literally adjusted every single hinge until the door was rolling smooth as ever and very little noise!! Would highly recommend him! Darin was slow to respond on each follow up repair. That sad part was, I just lived right across the street. Almost a two week wait for him to correct the problem(s). In the meantime, I'm a 50+ year old woman having to lift a heavy door up and down each time to get in and out of my house. I let it go as I did not want a confrontation or listen lame excuses.
