This gentleman quoted me a price of $1000 stating that both cables need to be replaced and the springs and the door needed to be completely removed. I told him to leave. I googled best garage repair and spoke with Overhead Door Company. I was given a quote (tentatively) over the phone so I knew what to expect financially. When Steve with Overhead Door arrived, I explained to him what happened earlier this morning with the other company, he told me that only the one broken cable needed to be replaced. There was no need to replace the other cable or the Springs, but he would lube the Springs, tighten the cables to ensure that the door would go up and down smoothly. There was no need to remove the entire door. Excellent service! Highly recommend Overhead door Company.I feel that they were fair, honest, reputable, and a good value for the money. Since installing these new doors we've had nothing but trouble with them. Our double garage doors required numerous call backs due to the chain slapping in the track and terrible squeaking and banging noises as the garage door was opening. They finally fixed that issue. We also have the same issue with our single stall garage door now, which has had very little use until my retirement a few months ago. Because it is now getting normal use, it took longer for these issues to manifest. They sent someone out 2 months ago and he fixed the issue, but now they want $155 to re-fix the same issue. When I queried them about this the lady said it's out of warranty and that it's been "years" since they installed the doors. It's actually been less than two years. Knowing what I know now about this company, I wouldn't have used them.

Once we moved into the house permanently, I called last week to schedule a time for them to come out, show me what was done, and then move forward with the rest. The gentleman I spoke with said "no problem" and scheduled me for Tuesday. The very next day, I got a call from him again -- this time to collect payment. I reminded him of our conversation, and he agreed, "oh yeah, see you next Tuesday." Then another call came from the office saying they needed payment before honoring any warranty work. Again, I explained that I was told payment would be collected when they showed me what was done. She said okay. But then the texts started -- numerous back-and-forth messages pressuring for payment. At that point, I told them: just send the invoice, and whatever warranty you claim to have on the work (that I couldn't even verify was done), you can keep it. I paid them and blocked their number. I honestly don't know how they have 5,200 five-star reviews. Maybe they do good work for others -- but this was not one of those times. Best of luck, but they will not be my choice again.

For reference, I am the President of the BOD for a local condominium Association. After positive past dealings with H&Y I referred them to a member unit-owner to replace a wood courtyard enclosure with vinyl. They were prompt with their estimate and were selected out of three companies by the homeowner to perform the job. The job was completed but needed to be lowered slightly to match the height of others in the Association. Despite a delay caused by the hurricane, Jerry, the owner, saw to it that the adjustment was made to our specifications. Given the relative insignificance of this re-visit in comparison to the volume of fence work a hurricane can produce, H&Y kept their commitment and for that the homeowner and I were thoroughly impressed. Jason did call and schedule for the following week at 9am. There were some set-backs on install day, for I had been scheduled to be 9am and by 10am, no one had shown up or called. Having taken the morning off, I was upset when I ended up having to take the full day off and they didn't even arrive until after 2pm. The crew was very efficient, with Sergio heading the team. They worked for a couple of hours. Glad I was there, to review fence before they finalized or they would have installed the fence sloped to accommodate the yard. Fence should be even, dirt can be added to even the slope of the yard on the side of the house. The posts were corrected and fence install continued. Second day they came back and finished the job. Fence looks great and truly adds value to the house. I think the installation crew is top notch. The office staff really needs to improve on their communication skills with their customers. It's like they don't care about the customer but boy did they call right away to get paid. No one ever apologized for making me wait all day when I had been scheduled for a 9am install.
