I happened upon the yard while driving to a client meeting and thought, hmmmm...what the heck is that spectacular slab doing in front of that little place?! I walked in and nearly fell out of my high heels. I'd shopped EVERYWHERE for several months - as my major renovation was going painfully slow and I wasn't finding anything I loved. My fateful stop that day was a hail-mary last chance effort. Farley, Nathalia, and the entire crew are top notch. No joke. As I walked through, they answered my questions without any pressure. No one followed me or hounded me with questions. They had a relatively small but beautifully curated selection, more thick slabs than the cheaper thin ones that others try to trick you with, then charge you more for creating an edge. When I landed on something I liked they suggested I go directly to their supplier to look at more slabs because they knew that particular "lot" or "series" had more very pretty pieces and I needed 5 that flowed together. They could have tried to "sell" me and might have been successful. But Nathalia was just as excited about the idea of me finding the perfect flow and fit. My designer and I headed over their partner/supplier and we were treated like VIP's because apparently Farley is the best installer/fabricator they work with. They couldn't say enough about him. "Kind, considerate and hard working" were how he was described and after doing business with him I wholeheartedly concur. The supplier gave me their price. Farley made his money on the fabrication and install. As a small business owner I appreciated the effort it took to get my job done. As our kitchen renovation careened into Thanksgiving, they moved heaven and earth to get our installation done on time staying into the night to get everything just right. You don't have to buy the entire slab. At Stone Design's yard you pay for what you use. Loved that! They gave me suggestions that saved me money and gave me a fair price on EVERYTHING they did, including the marble top they put on a old buffet I reinvented, and the pass-thru shelves we placed outside the kitchen windows. People gasp and clutch their chest when they enter my kitchen and I don't think it's my cooking. I live on Miami Beach and drove 40 miles up to Pompano to do business with them. The chest clutching and jaw dropping was worth it. I love Stone Design and the great people they employ and do business with. It is the only place to go.

On the first day, Ken ground the garage floor to remove the old paint, vacuumed, patched, applied base coat epoxy, and added color flakes. There was a nominal $350 materials removal fee, and the rest of the job cost about $3200. From the first measuring visit to installation took about 2 weeks. The installers spent around 3 hours on site, doing a fine job of caulking every crevice and drilling the faucet ports exactly to our specification. My biggest concern was affixing the undermount sinks securely, as I've read the undermount brackets cannot support much weight. The installers solved the problem with robust and elegantly installed 2x4 braces. The sinks could support the weight of an elephant. I very much appreciate getting this installed before the holidays, and not getting screwed. Thank you.
