Even though it was after Christmas, it was still an awesome experience. I truly wish more people knew about because it is so worth the time the money. It's the largest Christmas expedition on the East Coast and we've had great memories both times. This is our second year going and we enjoyed our time this year more than the first. The first part is you driving in your car as you see all of the super cool light fixtures while listening to Christmas music that corresponds to the lights. The kids (and us), we're in love with the different themes that we saw along the way. Very vibrant and bold colors that really don't do it justice through a camera lens. It's something you truly do have to see in person to get the full picture. There's also a movie playing on the Jumbotron that you can listen to while you're riding around or you can park and watch the movie with your family. This year we did the VIP skip line for $96. I will say that it seems as if in the VIP there wasn't as many light fixtures while riding in the car as there was in previous years. I'm not sure if we seen less exhibits because our route was shorter. That would be our only complaint. You do pay by a car/ van so I would say if you could take as many people with you in one vehicle. Once you get to the halfway point there, there's an area where you can park and then you can get out. Here is part two where you go to all of the different vendors that are inside the heated area. There's so much to do. You can take pictures with Santa. You can get your character made until cartoon portrait . There's free events where kids can make Christmas ornaments win prizes color take pictures with the themed Christmas tree trees (that were so so cute by the way.) They had a bar for the adults and hot chocolate and popcorn for the kids. When you go outside of the tent, there's part 3, a world with outdoor activities. There is an area for Christmas carols tubing that had artificial snow. Theres bonfires with s'mores. Ann area with a bunch of food trucks to choose from. There's hundreds of photo opportunities where there are huge, beautiful light fixtures that you can walk and see along the track. It's literally something for the entire family to enjoy or even a date night if there's something that you would like to do. This is something that my family will continue to do in the years to come.

Speedway Christmas event...yes, the lights! Friends invited…read moreus along - I must admit, there was NO way I was going to pay *that much* ($50) for an event I hadn't heard too much about. Typically we avoid holiday crowds (that's to keep the season merry, ya know?), & I'd heard from other friends that the crowds this year were excessive. However, I would recommend going to this on a weekday that isn't too busy or too close to Thanksgiving or Christmas. Was a unique and fun way to hang in the car celebrating yuletide while watching artistry of lights and music with friends. Was exciting for the men in the car to know we were driving on the actual speedway too. Glad our driver didn't take us up on to 'high bank' of the roads as he promised to do earlier. Know that you won't be able to hop out of your car to take pics or use the bathroom there, and there is no swag to purchase. (Would have loved that option as a unique gift for friends.) Note: If you go, you're supposed to turn your head lights off so they don't detract from the light show. Was a bummer when folks kept theirs on, because the headlights would sometimes be blinding! Also note: If you go during a wknd- which is more expensive- there is a place for kids to go (& I'm guessing you can THEN get out of your car). They also usually show a Christmas-themed movie on those nights...not sure how exactly that works, but sounded fun.

When we heard the Outlaws would be in Charlotte, we decided to hit that up and get some much needed time away. Describing our experience in one word - HORRIBLE! The dust was so bad that you couldn't see anything. We thought maybe after Friday night, they would do something to make things better for Saturday. No such luck. It was worse, and it was hard to get worse than Friday. The dust was so bad that you couldn't see the person standing beside you. You couldn't see one car on the track. As a matter of fact, you couldn't even see the race on the big screens either because the dust drowned out the lens on the camera....all you could see were shadows and dust. Absolutely the worst place I've ever been to watch a dirt track race. I don't know how the drivers were even able to see where they were going! Needless to say, I don't think we will be going back to this track any time soon. The NASCAR track is awesome....dirt track...no comparison! Two stars was pushing it...only gave that because we like the area. Very disappointed.

And this event was the championships. Stock car racing is something everyone should experience, if you like anything that goes fast. Here it's byob which is awesome. Saves money so you don't have to pay vending prices. Bring snacks, drinks, beer, blankets to sit on (bc it is a dirt track and the seats are, well dirty lol). Usually I don't wear anything nice to a dirt track but here it wasn't so bad. Also it's quick, meaning if you have ever been to Carolina speedway it's a lot different. Organized and quick to start each race. This time I had a giant corn dog and it was awesome. I will be back here for sure.

Cars are fast, responsive and racing was competitive. It was our first time to K-1, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Food available and fine too. Main issue we encountered was very slow sing-up/registering and payment when entering. There should have been two people working the front desk. Not cool to wait 30 min on a non-busy day just to get in. Maybe it was related to holiday staffing. Nevertheless, we left with smiles on our faces and will be back.

Subject: Formal Complaint - Unsafe Conditions, Unprofessional Conduct, and Denied Refund…read more I am writing to formally complain about a serious safety issue and unprofessional conduct I experienced during my recent visit to K1 Speed. During my race session, the race was stopped multiple times because other drivers spun out. Staff stated these interruptions were necessary for safety. However, during the same session, I was struck multiple times at high speed by other karts, and the race was not stopped, nor was the situation addressed. This inconsistent handling of safety created a situation that felt unsafe and poorly managed. Because of the repeated interruptions and the collisions I experienced, I requested a refund after the race. My request was denied without a clear or reasonable explanation. What made the situation worse was the way my concerns were handled by an employee named Gavin. Instead of listening or attempting to resolve the issue, he spoke to me in an unprofessional manner and went on a prolonged rant blaming customers for what was happening on the track. I felt dismissed and disrespected rather than assisted. This is not acceptable customer service. I paid for a safe and well-managed racing experience and did not receive one. I expect this matter to be reviewed seriously. I am requesting a refund for this session and a response explaining how this situation will be addressed to prevent similar incidents in the future. I look forward to your prompt response.

I choose Charlotte and I will never forget the experience. You're not limited to staying behind a pace care, you're allowed to pass other cars, you drive the car yourself, by yourself. Their instructors check you out first and if your comfortable with it and they feel you're ready ...... you go out alone! My girlfriend and my daughter did the 5 lap ride along and both loved the speeds and the experience. Only thing that went wrong is that I purchased the video option as well, and after I drove my 15 laps, when my girlfriend did her 5 lap ride, I used my sd card to video her as well and didn't know that it would copy her ride over mine.... When my turn came I had made 12 laps and was flagged to come in. After exiting the car and talking to my friend who came with me he said he only made 12 laps. He also shared with me that some of the owner's friends had shown up unscheduled. So I was pulled out of the car and they were allowed to drive. I spoke with the gentleman in charge he was very gracious to refund me for 12 laps. He also offered a discount for a return trip. Payment arrived within about 2 days, other than the couple hiccups it was a good day I would probably return.

EVERY teen NEEDS this course! DO NOT SKIP THIS!!!!…read more I think anyone with a teen driver with access to this program is INSANE if you don't attend this class. It's a $99 sign up fee, which is returned to you if you sign up with a paper check (yes, you can mail it in). But honestly, the $99 donation to attend this is a steal and INFINITELY VALUABLE if you value your kiddo's life! We did the course 2 years ago for our older teen (pre-covid) & now just completed for the younger teen (post-covid). I wouldn't care if I had to wear a mask the whole day to do this class - I PROMISE you it's PRICELESS to give your teen driver some REAL experience and some good education about driving hazards. Driver training is just not the same as it used to be (and people drive larger cars and faster speeds than 20-30-40 years ago when we all learned!), and even with a year of permit-driving your kid won't get what they can at this course. Hazard/avoidance skills, ABS steering skills, SKID skills (yes, really skidding, like control out of a 360-spin), and drop-curb (tire off road in gravel) experience, curve control, even a simulated drunk-driving (affectionately called "drunk goggles") experience. There's probably even more in there that I forgot! Instructors are AWESOME and really give the full-experience to every kid. YOU DO NOT NEED A VEHICLE to do this - so even if you have to Uber to the program that's fine! An adult does need to attend with the teen, 30 hours on permit driving to attend (yes, they can go before full-license). Don't be put off by the ONE presentation by a Kia Dealer/Rep - Kia (in Charlotte anyway) sponsors and provides the vehicles for this program - it's why the cost is still $99 after years of the program running! Let Kia get their little 'schpeal' in & be patient, again this is abut preparing your kid for REAL driving scenarios that you will never be able to provide in a SAFE environment! Are there some wait times, yes on occasion - let's all be ADULTS here and understand things are sometimes beyond control and 'crap' happens. The program is SMOOTHLY RUN and you'll get all your info by email of what to do, when to go, number to call for issues, etc. (just READ the emails peeps!). Again - I promise you will not regret the skills your teen (and even YOU, you'll get to drive a little also!) will get from this experience. https://putonthebrakes.org

There is a concourse that has many eating options, including national chains like Papa Johns and Burger King. There are also regional restaurants. Among them, I tried Carolina Pit BBQ and it was excellent! I had a pulled pork sandwich and the quality of the meat was high with a slight smoky flavor. The baked beans had a little kick and were delicious. The gates radiate outward from the concourse. There are moving walkways that ease the distance. The airport is not huge--all the gates are in one building, but that is a good thing and makes getting from one gate to another relatively easy. My impression is much better this time at this airport.

Hello fellow humans,…read more Back at Charlotte Douglas, and let me just say this airport is the definition of travel peace. After escaping the maze they call Houston Intercontinental, CLT felt like stepping into a well‑organized sanctuary with actual logic and walkways that don't require a survival map. Everything here is easy to maneuver -- the signs make sense, the layout doesn't feel like a prank, and you're not walking 17 miles just to find a bathroom. I swear Houston had me out there clocking steps like I was training for a marathon. Charlotte? Charlotte said, "Baby, relax. We got you." Now, don't get me wrong -- that walk from the gate to baggage claim is still a journey. You will get those steps in whether you planned to or not. But at least it's a straight shot and not a scavenger hunt with plot twists. Baggage came out quickly, the airport was clean, and the whole vibe was calm and traveler‑friendly. After the chaos I just left, CLT felt like a warm hug and a glass of sweet tea. Charlotte, you win again.
