Many negative Google reviews for this place are true. We ordered a fried fish, a burrito, some tacos, and a quesadilla. First of all, the cashier charged us $1 to $2 dollars extra over the menu on every single item we ordered. She just kept apologizing without giving a valid reason. Do they charge a tax for non-Mexican customers? Everyone worked in the kitchen seemed extremely grumpy. The food and condition of the place definitely make you question how clean and fresh everything is. In the end, the food we got all tasted good, which is why the 2 stars, but I highly recommend others to avoid this place in the future. read more

Oh man! We were looking for authentic Mexican food after being disappointed by many what I might call gringo style options we ended up settling on the days prior. We decided to take a chance here after driving past a few times and building up our courage as we knew we would most likely need to order in Spanish. I am so happy we did! The food was FANTASTIC and exactly what we were looking for. Fair priced real Mexican food being made to order right in front of our eyes. They had a few 3 tacos specials that day for I believe $6. My wife and I tried 2 different plates, one pork and one shredded beef served on homemade tortillas. Out of this world! We liked them so much we came back the next day and ordered 2 more along with a plate of bean and cheese pupusas to start. Again were super happy and the cook remembered us from the day before. We even had a little conversation about where we were from and how long we were in town for in Spanish. She was very friendly and she seemed to be really pleased how much we enjoined her cooking. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to step out the normal chips and salsa type "Mexican restaurants" they are accustomed to and give something real a chance. They also have a nice little condiment bar with tons of garnishes like jalapeno, cilantro, chopped onions, radishes and many many different spicy homemade salsas. read more

This place is the real deal. You go past the kitchen and order at the cash register in the store. Everything is made to order. They press and fry the tortilla along with your meat. This is simple mexican at its best. The flavors are spot on. Go in and have the best tacos in the valley. read more

Small Mexican grocery store with a small restaurant. Its a hole in the wall and u get get more authentic than this. Food is fresh and delicious but the person working doesn't know English so i used Google translation. Totally excellent & authentic. Don't be put off. This cozy little restaurant is located inside the grocery store/carniceria. Order at the cashier in the grocery section. Our breakfast burrito was delicious especially when we added some salsas from the condiment bar. The bean & cheese papusa was amazing! Try this place you won't regret it! read more

This is a real deal, south of the border, Mexican market with a small restaurant inside serving the Spanish speaking backbone of the community. The Assada Plato came with rice, beans, garnish and tortillas hot off the grill. Be sure to try some of the killer hot sauces. My Spanish wasn't good enough to converse with the cook ( the handwritten menu is in Spanish) but she directed me to the owner behind the cash register in the market to answer my questions, everyone was very nice. The dining room is truck stop basic and I ordered to go. You always know you're in the right place when you're the only gringo in the place, just chill out and enjoy this little gem. read more

Food is good, service to gringos is definitely different than for Mexicans - that fact is very acknowledged in the Roaring Fork Valley. Tonight, for example, a Mexican family ordered take-out at least 5 minutes after we did and received their food at least 5 minutes before we did. Not a huge deal, but it is a factor every time we go (went) there. My biggest problem is that they almost NEVER have rice for carry out. I like their tortillas, beans, and rice A LOT (very good) but they have had rice available once out of the last six times I've been there. My daughter likes their enchiladas, so I always cave in and get something else, but it's always disappointing. For example the tortas I got tonight was burned and pretty flavorless. If I wanted a tortas I'd go to Tacqueria El Nopal - they serve the best tortas around hands-down. Anyway, I was bummed enough tonight to tell my daughter enough-is-enough, and it was the last time I will be giving Garcia's any more money. read more
