We originally had Christmas dinner plans at Hotel Colorado, but after dining there on Christmas Eve…read moreand being very disappointed with the food especially for a $250 bill .. We decided we didn't want to risk having the same experience again for Christmas dinner. As we were leaving, I happened to come across Brass & Anvil and decided to call on a whim to see if they had any availability for Christmas Day. To my surprise, they were fairly open and able to accommodate us, which ended up being such a blessing. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Luke (I believe that was his name), a 16-year-old host with the warmest smile and such genuine kindness. He seated us with care and made us feel immediately welcome. Our server, whose name I unfortunately can't remember along with Luke, provided excellent service throughout the entire meal. The food was absolutely amazing! Every dish was delicious, and there was not a single complaint at the table. The drinks were fabulous as well, perfectly crafted and enjoyable. Overall, the entire experience exceeded our expectations!! We had an amazing experience at Brass & Anvil and would absolutely return. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for great food, great drinks, and even better service!! Oh and the ambiance was so so classy and cozy. Thank y'all so much!!

Unfortunately, Brass & Anvil was a disappointment. At $20 for just three meatballs, they also felt especially overpriced. The parmesan truffle fries had an unusual taste--almost as if they had been cooked in old grease--and there wasn't much truffle flavor. The pear salad was okay overall, but the pears didn't seem fresh and tasted more like canned pears. On the positive side, the patio was very nice, and the mezcal cocktail was excellent. It's a great setting, and we really wanted to like it, but given the quality of the food and the prices, the meal just didn't deliver.

After reading some of the replies, I'm really glad we had a fantastic dinner at Tiny Pine Bistro…read more We arrived at opening and chose to sit outside. It is the cutest, most quaint space you could imagine. We started out with the cheese plate and some drinks. Everything was excellent. I opted for the elk, my husband the 8 oz steak and our son the kid's burger. Everything was hot, seasoned perfectly and although people complain about the prices, the portions were hefty and definitely worth it. We really enjoyed our time, the food, live music, atmosphere and staff. Thank you for a great meal and wonderful experience, Chef Chuck and staff. We'll be back next time we're in town!

The wildflower honey and salt biscuit had been living in my head for a year and definitely wanted to get that again. We started with the biscuit and the the hamachi crudo, which was prepared like ceviche and served over homemade sourdough. This was delicious!! So fresh and good seasoning - would've prepared the sourdough be sliced slightly thinner and crispier but it was delicious. For entrees, we split the bone in pork chop (sauce espagnole, sweet corn, red pepper, chimichurri) and Pommes Dauphinoise. Both were massive portions and more than enough for us to split. I personally didn't love the pork chop flavor but that was me - the corn reminded me of succotash which I'm not a huge fan of. However the pork was cooked really well and it was a beautiful plate. The potatoes were very rich and we ended up taking most of them as leftovers. Appetizers hit it out of the park for us and entree was solid! Really cute place in Carbondale.
