Great gift shop, we have been coming here forever. I always find some unique gift to buy. This year it was my favorite Inis perfume, which I found in south Florida last year and haven't been able to find up here, so happy they carry it! Give it a sniff, it's so fresh and crisp. Layered with the lotion it's heavenly. I will say it was hard to find this year, this is the third location change in St Armand's, I really loved the first one the best. But this current location seems bigger than the last one more merch, and easier to maneuver around. Service wasn't as friendly this time, but hopefully that's a one off. read more

Garden Argosy is a whimsical store that is fun to stop in while at Armand Circle. They have lots of beachside items for decorating or gift giving. I had fun getting lost in the multitude is items to look at. I was there at Armand Circle this past August. What I wouldn't do for a day like that to just stroll through different stores without a care in the world. This shop fits in the Circle perfectly. When visiting, you have to stop in and pick up a few items. read more

Bottom Line: A jam packed store full of gifts, women's accessories and home decor. Garden Argosy in St. Armands Circle was a really nice find on my recent trip to Sarasota. But, I agree with other viewers that it is so packed to the gills that it is really hard to shop. Because many pathways were blocked with other shoppers in the end I think I only saw about half of the store. But I did like what I saw which included soap, lotions, baby gifts, garden flags, tableware, jewelry and such. I look forward to returning and I am hoping for a more shoppable experience on my next visit. read more

First time visiting this retailer (today). The vibe is great and Staff are friendly and engaging. There are lots of unique gifts on display (check out the $6 coasters -hilarious). My favorite was the jewelry and the handbags. They have this unique diffuser for sale and I decided to buy it for my bff as a birthday gift. I'll have to ask how she likes ut once she puts it in use. I plan to come back and visit because they really have nice jewelry and I'd like to get one or two more pieces. I like supporting local businesses and I'm glad to know they've been around for a while. read more

I was looking for a gift for my granddaughter and ended up taking care of most of my Christmas list! From my husband, daughters, son, and grandkids. I was able to fund so many wonderful items. Beach home decor. Shell art, and My favorite--papaya art products sold here as well. With a Celebration of beach life, you will certainly find something cute and inspiring in this shop. Mob scene! This store had nice gifts but there were so many people jammed into this tiny space that you could barely move! So it made shopping less enjoyable as you were shuffled along at the pace of the person in front of you. That said, you can find all kinds of interesting gifts: jewelry, cards, stained glass, bath and body items, home goods with a Floridian flair...There were a number of windchimes and glass "witch balls" suspended from the ceiling which added to the clutter but made an attractive display. If you're a shopper who likes to take your time, this place will appeal to you because you can't do anything otherwise! So give yourself some time and find something unusual. read more

Employees are watching you like you're a thief waiting for your chance to steal. Things are overpriced. Great variety of things but since I had the feeling that the employees are watching over my shoulder I decided to buy my item I wanted elsewhere and found it for $10 cheaper. After reading other reviews I see others feel the same way about the employees but this reflects how the owner runs the business. read more

Lots of interesting items in this store.....it was fun to look around, BUT... My impression is the owners might not be completely upfront and honest, and here's why: I was in there Mar. 15 and purchased almost $300 worth of merchandise, including a wall hanging for approx. $63. I live out of state so needed them to ship that to me (shipping around $30). They told me to expect it in about 10 days. As of Mar. 31, I had not received it and no email notification that anything had been shipped, so called the store and asked to speak to the owner. The clerk said she was there, and to wait one second. I could hear a muffled conversation, and the clerk came back on the line and said the owner was not in, but that they would call me the next day. Still no call by the next early afternoon, so I called again. The clerk said the owner was in the back room, and gave me that number to call. When I called, no one picked up. I left a message, explaining the situation and stating I was supposed to get a call today and had not heard from anyone. Around 4:00, I received an email from FedEx that a package from them was being shipped. Shortly afterwards, I received a voice message from the owner, stating he had called that morning, but only got a busy signal. My phone either rings, or goes directly to voice mail, so that was a LIE. There were no missed calls from them; he simply had not called. He said something about "overlooking" this order, apologized and said the package has now been shipped. Of course, it's possible he could have overlooked it, but I don't believe it at all. Read the reviews about these people...seems like they are only about making a buck and don't care much about the customer. I believe it was intentional not to send it, in the off-chance that I may have forgotten this purchase while on vacation. It's a win for them either way, so in their minds, they don't lose anything by trying. I wonder how many times it's worked for them? read more

I went in there today to buy a picture frame. Price on frame display was $49. They rang it up as $56 and would not honor the posted price, even though it was clearly marked as $49 As a local I feel they are taking advantage of tourist and will not personally shop in there again and tell everyone I know to avoid it. The absolute worst shop unless you like to be talked to in a demeaning nature. We were looking at a cute baby romper when a shop attendant approached to explain to us the brand we were looking at was extremely high end but they had less expensive items on the other side of the store or at Carters.... I only wanted to know what was special about the romper to merit the price... anyway made our shopping trip less enjoyable after that encounter- I did not enjoy it being implied I couldn't afford the item I was holding.... perhaps it was reverse psychology in hopes I was deranged enough to plop down $98.00 plus dollars for less than a yard of "hand sewn" on a machine gauze romper. Anyway- great shop if you want to be made to feel small but otherwise overpriced and underwhelming. read more

Cute selection, high prices, TERRIBLE EMPLOYEES. I do not look like the demographic in this area (I am younger and have tattoos) and I felt immediately profiled once I stepped into this store. I had an employee constantly harassing me about the jewelry I was looking at and asking me about my tattoos. Not in a nice way, she was acting surprised and confused as if I'm literally the only person she's ever seen with a half sleeve. Then I put down one thing and picked up another and she ran over to comment about my decision, again, not in a nice way. I walked by the cashier station and one of the ladies asked to put the jewelry behind the counter, I declined because I was still looking but she insisted and just took it from me. After that the original employee come over looking at my hands and asking me where the jewelry went.. Like WTF. I told her the cashier took it and she looked relieved. I almost freaked out but instead I just walked out. They just lost a $60 sale because of their rude and incriminating behavior. Good job. read more

I bought a special clock in September 2017 and when I got back in Florida in dec (snow bird) the clock was stuck on 8 o'clock. It just quit working. With no receipt in hand I went there today in hopes to either exchange it or store credit. Garden Argosy did exactly that. They gave me a store credit. I was very pleased. This place is just too forceful in their following/trailing of customers. It makes for a very uncomfortable and annoying shopping experience. The employees are literally on top of you the moment you walk inside. Want to feel like a thief?....come on inside. They corner you at every angle, they get in your personal space, they hover, they grab items out of your hands, they are JUST TOO MUCH. On top of the unnecessary hovering, they are not welcoming and are downright rude and suspicious! It's pretty ridiculous. I had a friend visit me & she wanted to look inside the shop...I told her what to expect and she thought I was joking. Sure enough, she was made to feel like she was going to steal something and although she wanted some items, she didn't enjoy the customer service so we left empty handed. I live on Lido Beach, St Armands is in my backyard and I have tried so so so many times to give this shop a try but the employees and owner are just unbelievable in how they treat customers. They will be on top of you and assume you plan to steal something--- don't say you weren't warned. read more

We have gone to this store for years! Several of our family members and one of the "must go places". However in Aug I purchased a beautiful pendant that only you could get there with sand and a small starfish. However it turned GREEN! We returned in April and I brought with me. All they would do was give me 1/2 store credit! They said I didn't have the receipt AND they didnt know what I did to it! SERIOUSLY! I am a grown adult and take care of my jewelry! They offered to "blow dry" it. I will never go there again and will tell the rest of our family how they don't stand behind their merchandise! read more

Very cute shop. I am here for a friends memorial service and went in to purchase something to have to remember the time spent here. A lady helped me pick out a couple of items but kept explaining the cost to me. I told her I understood it was two items and didn't mind the two costs. She put the items behind the counter for me as I browsed the store. I went to pay and let the cashier know of my items behind the counter. She said I only had one item and argued with me about the other. After explaining what it was and after she found it (sitting right next to the other item) she continued to tell me it was an additional cost and not included with the other item. I don't know if I looked exceptionally poor today or if this is how they treat everyone but when items have separate price tags most people can figure it out! She was very rude to the point I was in tears. I would have left without the items but they were very pretty. Treat your customers better please. You never know what someone is going through or how much money they have based on their looks or attire. read more

I love the ecclectic variety of gifts and keepsakes found here. The store is small and crowded but with a constantly changing selection of merchandise that you won't find anywhere else. The only thing I really don't like about this store is the attitude of some of the employees. We walked about two steps into the store and were immediately corned by an employee, who interrupted our conversation about an item, so that she would explain what were were discussing. It was a bar of soap with a rubber duck inside. It really didn't need to be explained to us. As we walked around the store, she seemed to be following us so that she explain everything we looked at (we weren't even touching anything, just looking). At one point, we split up to go around a small group of people blocking an isle, it was almost too much for her, and she was right next to us when we rejoined on the other end of the isle. The store gets crowed enough without employees acting like we are all doing something wrong. After a few minutes of this we decided to head back out. It was just not an enjoyable experience to be shadowed while trying to browse. read more
