Would knowing how your fries were made, change your experience of them for the better? I impulsively visited Garden Market to get out of the cold on a particularly frigid night. I ordered a burger, which came with the pictured side of fries. A disconnected online delivery order, sent off across the digital ether and appearing at your doorstep, provides significantly less information about those serving your fries than an in-person order. It was helpful to see this attentively clean and well stocked organic market for myself, and how the staff operated. Three different people attended to my fries. It was started by the sandwich artist, and put aside whilst he worked on my burger. He stepped aside for both the burger and the fries to be completed by a second chef. As his attention turned to my burger and the basket of fries were lifted from the deep fryer, the cashier noticed me waiting. He rung me up in the meantime and went over to check on my fries. Assessing they went a little cold and weren't cooked to his liking, he started another basket of fries in a neighboring deep fryer and explained to me the reason for the delay. When I rushed home through the cold, I was excited to tear open the foil tray to see what the third fry cook was searching for in deciding to put on a second batch of fries. I had hoped they would travel well in the cold. Garden Market served a satisfying helping of fries as a side. It would be far too much if I had been served any more. The proffered condiments and included ample ketchup - 8 satchets. I used 4, accompanied by my own hot sauce. If they were particularly well cooked from beautiful potatoes, crispy skins, fluffy on the inside - they would have exceeded all expectation. But my expectations and what I ask from a stop into a new convenience store on a cold night, are modest - speed, convenience, heat and condiments. They worked the best out from what they had. Can be pricey for some folks, but seems right in line with the "New Bed Stuy". The market is clean, with good ambiance. Great staff with upbeat attitudes: seems to mesh we with locals. I appreciate that since this is my hometown and everything has changed. I found this place on yelp when looking for a smoothie for my sister who was in the hospital. Since we arrived to our Airbnb late at night, hungry, we checked for nearby places to eat and this place seemed promising. We ordered the shaggy sandwich and halal chicken over rice. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes very generous! The men behind the counter were also extremely friendly and were engaging in lighthearted banter with some local regulars. A market place and food, Along with great service, really liked this place. Although it looks like a small market from the outside, they actually have A LOT of stuff, pretty much anything you need from veggies, to fruits, to boxed goods! I buy my Kombucha and salads from here when I need healthy options. It's one of the few neighborhood places w/ healthy options. Much better than it used to be a few years back. However, The night shift is 10000% more pleasant than the day shift. The Day shift dudes are an brisk, rude, short, unpleasant lot. Shouts to the late night cashier Mohammed tho, he's awesome. Pleasant and a helpful and humorous guy. As well as the night grill cook (w/ the long hair). They generally have a lot of variety, fresh food and vegan/vegetarian options. AND they're open 24/7 w/.out having to order through bullet-proof glass. perfect for late night munchies. Just no beer/cigarettes. 100% Halal. This place is a block away from my apartment and I never visited because I assume all bodegas are the same. Out of all the ones in my area, this has to be the cleanest,m with the most fresh food. This is for sure the best deli in that area!!! Very clean atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was delicious!!! My family of 4 and I had a mix of both hot and cold food. We all agreed what each of had to eat was very good. We just so happen to be in the area.... We drove from Staten Island on an errand however will make a point to definitely pick up food from this store next time we are in Brooklyn. They are doing an amazing job at this location. I strongly recommend it and wish other convenient stores would be as clean, courteous and delicious. read more

I go here all the time cause it's open 24 hours and has almost everything you can think of from groceries to stamps to cleaning supplies to hot paninis to smoothies. Literally everything. The people are really friendly and approachable. The grocery food is usually fresh. Their avocados are pretty good. Sometimes the fruit isn't as fresh and once they gave me my money back for blueberries. The prices are higher than ur typical grocery store but they are so convenient. They make fresh smoothies to order and you can literally pick whatever you want to make it. They were large and surprisingly good. I walked into this establishment for the first time this morning to pick up a breakfast sandwich. I asked for a bacon egg and cheese on a roll. There was bearded man working alone and taking orders. About a minute later I asked him to add avocado to my sandwich and he said okay. Right when he was finishing up my sandwich he asked me if I wanted bbq sauce and I said no and reminded him about the avocado. Then he asked me if I wanted ketchup and I said no but you can add a little butter. He then got annoyed that I asked him to add butter and said that I should've said that earlier. I asked him why was he complaining when he just asked me if I wanted bbq sauce and ketchup. He then raised his voice at me and I told him to please stop yelling. He continued to yell over me and I expressed that he isn't supposed to argue with a paying customer. He then told me that he has good customer service and now I'm getting him upset as he continued to yell. Again, I reminded him how unprofessional he was to be yelling at a customer. I told him it was my first time here and I won't be coming back. He replied he didn't care. As a woman and someone on their way to work, I didn't appreciate being spoken to like this. He was very aggressive and yelled at me throughout the interaction despite me asking him to stop. No one deserves to be treated this way! read more

I have been going to this deli for the last three years on an almost daily basis. The employees there have always been courteous on the verge of flirting...two months ago I witnessed an employee flirt with a customer who didn't speak English, instead of focusing on his work he slows down the deli guy by asking this employee to translate his sexual advances. The other employee said no and tried going back to work yet this employee kept insisting on it. I interfered and explained that not only was he making his coworker uncomfortable but making me uncomfortable. This asshole has the nerve to talk to me like I am in a relationship with him or something..."you and I are going to talk later"...I flipped him off and avoided the place for two months... guess what happened tonight...Just when I thought it was safe to go in, a different employee suggested that the reason my food was taking so long because the deli guys want to keep me there. I mentioned my hiatus and he acted as if I was being unreasonable over his sexist and unprofessional behavior. The deli guys have always been respectful and nice to me...its the jerks behind the counter that feel entitled to comment on my body, and looks --make unwarranted comments about their fellow employees rather than do their work. read more
