I visited the restaurant this past weekend. I can say it was OK. The menu look very good which made it hard to decide what to order. We ordered the asparagus prime rib tips and the artichoke appetizer. Both options were good but neither was something I would have to order again. The entree I had was the broiled seafood platter and my wife had the stuffed duck. Again both were OK, but nothing to remember. First of all, this place kind of looks like both of my grandmas threw up in there. The service was fine. The food looked beautiful and was well cooked but not seasoned at all. I had the salmon with pesto and it was just bland and boring. My boyfriend got the angel hair pasta with shrimp and crab meat, and it seemed to be mostly shrimp and butter. Came here for dinner last night with my boyfriend and his parents. First time any of us have been here. I saw the restaurant was participating for LI Restaurant week so we wanted to try something new. We walked in and you couldn't help but admire the old Victorian house with beautiful fireplaces and antique decorations. The restaurant was very busy but we lucked out and were able to sit in a few minutes. Overall the experience was wonderful. The food was amazing. We went with the restaurant week menu but will definitely return to try the regular menu. We all loved it. The only issue I had was my waiter was a little slow. I was totally amazed at the ambiance. When it comes to a romantic place to eat, in Northern Suffolk, I'd say they have it hands down. It was obvious that they spend lots of time changing the decorations of the restaurant as the holidays change. The staff is like a well oiled machine. It's like they are all one big happy family. We were seated rather quickly. The waitress was understanding when we needed a little more time to place our order. Sometimes when we need more time, it's like we are purposely ignored but that wasn't the case. Even though it was a rather busy night for them, we weren't rushed out in the least. My daughter and I ate here on a Friday night, and agreed to share 2 dishes. We ordered penne ala vodka, and the grilled marinated ribeye steak. Both dishes came with a garden salad that was fresh, topped with croutons and a cup of your choice of dressing (we both opted for blue cheese). We both enjoy fresh ground pepper on our salads, and as soon as the salads hit the table, the waiter was right there with a huge pepper mill. This may not seem like a big deal to most diners, but it's something I expect, and don't want to have to request. Well done. The penne was delicious, and full of flavor, but not drowning in sauce. We had it plain, but you can also add shrimp or chicken. Again, shortly after the dish hit the table, the waiter was back with a cheese grater. The ribeye was phenomenal. Not only cooked to perfection, but the presentation with onion rings and potatoes was a thing of beauty, surpassed only by the great taste and tenderness of the steak itself. This dish alone would be enough to make me come back. We also shared a side of sautéed mushrooms and onions, that was tasty and complemented both entrées. Dessert? Yes, please. There were so many great choices, but we opted for the tartufo, split into 4 equal portions of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with a crunchy chocolate shell and generously topped with whipped cream. Went on a Saturday night. Had a reservation for 2 at 7pm. They put us at the only table that was for 2 people. Very small against the wall next to the bathroom. Had only 2 other tables with people at them. Of course asked to sit somewhere else. Felt bad asking but was there 2 hours and still had plenty of tables available. The waiter was not the best. Dinner took a long time. I wasn't complaining. I had a martini so I was happy but when he served the food he made a comment that "sorry it took so long I practically had to beg for it" if he didn't say that I would have just assumed they take this long on purpose. Went in for brunch today. $112.00 for a very disappointing brunch for 4 people. Poor selection and the food was cold and hadn't been freshened up in a while. Mimosa tasted like iced OJ. Service was fine and the waiter offered to bring something fresh from the kitchen but we had already finished our meal. The manager was showing the place to some catering customers when he should have been paying more attention to what the buffet looked like. I might consider going for dinner or lunch which has been fine in the past but I will never go back for brunch. read more

Was exited to enjoy the Octoberfest and the the supposedly German music on October 10th only to find Chaos and the worst and overpriced food I have ever had. The pot pie I send back because the vegetables were uncooked and the broth like water. The mussels were in a water broth with no flavor and I'm guessing they were old because I have never had them where the shell separated and split. The staff were not in a specific uniform. Some wore undershirts' and I witnessed them taking all the liquid left from a customers glass and dumping it into the planter next to the table. Not only that but one of the staff actually dumped some of a customers water from their glass to clean the table .OMG! I don't know how they are still in business. Came here last night with our kids.. what a special night! It was Oktoberfest and I'm so glad we decided to come. We felt like we were on vacation, the staff was incredibly friendly and seemed genuinely happy to have our business. The jumbo Bavarian pretzel was mouth watering! Can't say enough good things about Garden Grill. I enjoyed everything they served. The French Onion Soup was delicious, not overpoweringly salty with just a perfect hint of sweetness. Salad was garden fresh and I could have had that as my main course it was that good. I ordered the Veal & Shrimp Involtini and I cleaned the plate. Just amazing. Veal was lightly breaded and the mushroom sauce just a great accent to the flavors of the dish. Atmosphere and decor beautiful. My one criticism is that they could get better beers on tap. ie: a Brooklyn Lager or something from Southhampton (Keller Pils) Corona is never a good option anywhere. We had been frequenting Garden Grill often. This summer we had gone and waited 55 minutes ... when we asked for the check ---we did get our bottle of wine---suddenly our appetizers appeared. At that point we left. So I wanted to try again this Sunday. Well we waited 30 minutes before we were asked if we wanted anything to drink---seated at our table---after 45 minutes we still did not have our drinks or had been asked our order. NEVER AGAIN. Honestly can't review the food because the last 2 times we never got that far. To say the service is poor is an understatement. The room looked beautiful and nicely decorated and they let us come early to set up. Both Chrissy and Dennis were very helpful in organizing the party. Just had our Thanksgiving meal at the Garden Grill. Extremely disappointed!!! We were seated on an outdoor terrace with what looked like lawn furniture. Not very cozy and it was freezing. When the heater came on, it was so loud that you could not have a conversation with the people at your table. We waited an hour (!!!!) between the first course and the main meal. The salad was skimpy at best (a few limp leaves of lettuce, shredded carrots and 3 mini tomatoes), our main courses were o.k., nothing to rave about. The turkey looked like a hot open turkey sandwich, no garnish, just the meat drenched in gravy. The sides were way too many carbs, especially since the steak already came with mashed potatoes. The only vegetable was creamed corn. The dessert was not made to look appetizing either, but most disappointing was the fact that they would serve parts of it in plastic bowls. Not what we would expect at $60.00 per person. We have eaten there many times before and were always very pleased. However, this experience makes us not want to go back there again. read more

I was visiting and it was reccomeded to my friend who resides in the area. Well I wasn't expecting a lot and that's exactly what I got. The exterior was looked like someone's home it did have a little charm about it. Then it was too much as you went inside. The interior looks like my grandma's house was very old fashion and very overdone. So if you like overdone old lady interiors you should be just fine. The food was just ok. The ribs were very dry but the waitress swore to god they were famntastic, if you have actually had ribs in the south or if you've made decent ribs at home these will be disappointing. I also ordered the peanut butter pie...did I really pay 9$ for something that came out of a box and tasted that way. Our waitress also couldn't recommend anything, she was one of those that liked everything, but clearly the menu didn't have anything fantastic ...But what really irritated me about this place was our waitress...it seemed like she was rushed the entire time we were there and especially at the end of our meal...well I figured out why...she was getting off after we were done. Then after I signed the check she basically came running to grab the check so she could get the heck out...I really just gave her a tip for rude and rushed service? Upon leaving my uncle asked to see the manager to complain which was more than warranted. For context the last time that I was here was over ten years ago. Over all that time I thought I was missing out on something...boy was I wrong. For starters the service is completely unprofessional and at times plain rude. We had made reservations for 8 people for 5:30. We weren't seated until 6:15 and when we were seated we sat alone without a server or menus for 25 minutes. By the time we got our appetizers it was 7:00. As for the food what can be said besides it being completely overrated and overpriced. Salads drenched in dressing and lamb chops dry as sandpaper. This restaurant is top notch. Beautiful and elegant atmosphere, most of the staff very accommodating and the food is exquisite.. Definitely a place you would want to dine at for a special event, special occasion, or to wine and dine that "special" someone. I would love to give this place 5 stars but I was here recently for a celebration of about 50 guests and there were some things lacking. First and foremost we sat upstairs that was such a beautifully decorated room/attic for a private event, but it was SO stuffy and hot. Mostly all of the guests were complaining about it, and the staff apparently kept putting the air conditioner cooler. Was it broken (which was never admitted nor apologized if that was the case) ? Or is that how it usually gets up there when there's a room full of guests? - so I would recommend not planning a party upstairs in June. Next thing.. For a planned, private event not all of the staff were "on top" of guests drinks and tables that needed service. Looking around everyone was working but perhaps they were short handed? I'm not sure what the problem was. At the very beginning of the event they had given out bread baskets to each table that sat about 6 people with probably 7-8 pieces of bread. Over two hours went by (with no refills) until we were served the 1st course - penne alla vodka. Once that was served everything came in a more timely matter (2nd course, salad. 3rd course, main entrée-- choose between Eggplant Rollatini, Tilapia Florentine, Chicken Francese and Filet Mignon). However, after dinner the staff came around with coffees to have with the cake ..that should have been served with the coffee-- but the cake wasn't served until a half hour later. I wasn't too happy with the room being so stuffy and the lack of service---but I would really like to give this place the benefit of the doubt because when the staff did come by, they were very sweet and accommodating. The food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is elegant and gorgeous. So with all of that being said, this place is worth a try. Maybe they had an "off" day. I came here last month for my office Holiday party and everyone had a great time. We had a big room upstairs with a fireplace. Unfortunately the office had to split into two because they gave us two tables that were situated into an L-shape so not everyone was able to socialize (I socialize with these people 5 days a week but it would have been nice to get to know their significant others a bit better) but that's the best they could have done with the size of the room. The decor is very old school, like walking into an old home (but without the old smell). It was very cozy and comfortable. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The food was wonderful. The wine was delicious. Everyone had a nice time. I had the steak and although it wasn't cooked perfectly, it still had a great taste. Also, beware of the parking lot. It was packed out and I was just able to find a spot in front of the restaurant. I'm not sure if it's always that crowded on the weekends or if the holidays contributed to the overpopulation of cars in their lot but it was definitely tight. My first time at this restaurant. Very charming in an old fashioned way. Lots of bric-a-brac and tchotchkes which made for an interesting , homey feel. Service was very good, huge glasses of wine and the food, while safe, was very nice. I hade the stuffed shrimp and my companion had the coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was a huge portion. My stuffed shrimp was just the right amount of food. Next visit I would go for something more adventurous. Overall, a lovely lunch. And the restaurant was immaculate. I will start by saying the food is always very good here and the outdoor setting is terrific, however, DON'T ever sit upstairs. It is terrible as far service goes. The door to the upstairs deck keeps opening and closing and you must deal with the drafts, cold or hot. The waitresses must go up and down the stairs to put orders in and bring up drinks and food. It took over 2 hours to get appetizers and after 4 hours of dancing around, we finally got out of there. You would think they would at least be smart enough to put 2 coffee burners upstairs so a waitress does not have to do the stairs AGAIN if you want a second cup. AGAIN I will say, food is very good, outside is very good but forget the 2nd level.....it was a terrible experience. read more
