On a previous visit we stayed at one of the cabins that was on property and had so much fun we researched what was available now. To our surprise, there is now a lodge and spa on property near the cabins that we previously visited. It is a beautiful large 4-story structure with a large foyer, wood beams, large windows and a lake view out the back of the hotel. There is a two-sided fireplace as you enter with a cafe on one side and check-in on the other. Check-in was easy and pleasant. The staff was friendly. Most rooms are to the right as you enter. One of the 2 elevators was broken on our visit. Our room was very nice with a balcony overlooking the lake, a small kitchenette area with a small refrigerator and a microwave. The Lodge is convenient for getting to the park due to its location. The price was definitely more than other hotels in the local area but I think it is worth it for location in/near the gardens.

I was afraid to leave my very tiny dog (3 lbs) in the bathroom for us to go grab food because the electrical box (not sure of the exact name but it's where the electrical sockets are) was falling off the wall. If I'm afraid to leave my dog alone around it, it would be a huge problem if an infant happened to crawl up to it... Also, the appliance that you flip to drain water from the bathtub didn't fit properly and there was a 1 inch hole- perfect for tiny fingers to get stuck in. I was shocked by the lack of upkeep at a beautiful place like Callaway Gardens. It is a shame because it is otherwise such a lovely place to be.

I would definitely NOT recommend this motel nasty. We were moved twice to rooms that the toilets were not working and the customer service representative that evening Shea was less than hospitable asking (after being moved two times at 8 pm) "What do you want?!" Service is less than helpful. Never returning here again. Many changes are needed. Maybe a bulldozer.

Surprisingly It was a very peaceful, comfortable and affordable motel. Amita, (Owner) was super friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and smelled good. The décor was older, but nice. We will definitely stay here again. Oh! When you read the reviews and see that the free breakfast is waiting for you on a table outside the office... It's true. A very unique and fun experience. Upon entering the very small room, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned after the last guest (bedding stripped, pillows piled up on bed, etc.). On returning to the front desk, the clerk offered to go clean it up herself - stating that it would not take her more than twenty minutes. We were told that no other rooms were available. Not wanting a room that would be hurriedly cleaned, we opted for a refund and left to find a much larger, nicer and CLEANED room at another property nearby. The clerk was very apologetic but offered nothing for our convenience. No management was anywhere to be seen.

To be fair, I'll start with the positive. The two-bedroom cottage was excellent. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and exactly what we expected. If I had rented the cottage by itself and nothing else, I would have been completely satisfied. Unfortunately, everything else about our stay was one disappointment after another. I booked our stay because the cottage package advertised a complimentary four-seat golf cart. An almost $800 deposit was charged immediately, but I never received a confirmation email. After calling the resort, I eventually received one, but it only listed a two-bedroom cottage. It did not mention the golf cart, the five Explorer Passes I had already purchased, or provide an itemized breakdown of my reservation. During checkout, I also purchased five Explorer Passes because the booking process stated that guests purchasing them with their reservation would receive unlimited access throughout their stay, unlike single-day passes purchased separately. Problems started the moment we arrived. The main entrance was closed with no signs directing guests to after-hours check-in. After driving around the property, we finally found someone who directed us to the Lodge. At check-in, I was told to pick up my golf cart outside. Instead, I was told I didn't have one. Staff insisted it wasn't included with my reservation. Since my confirmation email contained almost no details, I had nothing to show them. Rather than argue and ruin our first night, I paid an additional $200 to rent a six-seat golf cart. The next morning we picked it up, only to discover it had less than half a tank of gas, faulty brake lights, a broken turn signal that became extremely hot, and so little power that three of the six people riding had to get out and push it up the hill leading to the cottages. When we picked up our Explorer Passes, I was asked for a QR code that was never emailed to me. After printing my passes, I also purchased one for my father. I then learned the Explorer Passes did not provide unlimited access as presented during booking. Instead, each activity could only be done once. The biggest disappointment was the inflatable water obstacle course. It was the main reason we purchased the Explorer Passes, only to be told it was closed until 1:00 p.m. the following day for cleaning. We checked out at 11:00 a.m. Had we known it would be unavailable during our stay, we never would have purchased the passes. Even more frustrating, we never saw anyone cleaning it. The lifeguards were sitting on it, talking, and diving off it while guests were told it was closed. For dinner, we chose the Piedmont Dining Room because the resort website listed prime rib. When we arrived, it wasn't on the menu. The ribeye was excellent, and our waitress was phenomenal, but it was another example of the website not matching reality. Later that evening my husband asked to exchange our defective golf cart. The employee looked up our cart number and immediately said, "Oh...you have #35. That's the broken one." That statement perfectly summarized our experience. Callaway Gardens is undeniably beautiful, and the cottages are wonderful. But beautiful scenery doesn't justify spending nearly $1,500 for two nights when the amenities you planned your vacation around either aren't available, don't match what was presented during booking, or are known to be defective. Between the reservation confusion, paying an extra $200 for a golf cart, missing confirmation details, never receiving required QR codes, Explorer Passes that didn't match how they were presented, the resort's signature attraction being closed during our stay, and outdated information on the website, this vacation became a series of frustrations instead of the relaxing family getaway we planned. I cannot recommend Callaway Gardens based on our experience.

Rating it a 3 from a cost/benefit ratio…read more Let me start with...we are big fans of Callaway Gardens. We traveled from Augusta and this was probably our 4th time visiting, albeit the last time was probably 7 years ago. We stayed 2 nights (Tues - Thurs) Our 1st floor room had a moldy, musty smell. Not until my wife took her shoes off did we realize the carpet under the bed and in the middle of the otherwise tiled floor was very wet. It was raining outside so not sure where the water came from. When we went to the front desk, they gave us another room. Spa - we did a couples 80 min massage. Very nice!! Very Pricey though at $600 plus. Dinner at Cason's attached to the hotel. We both had the fish n chips which were worth the price. Brian provided excellent service. 1st Breakfast we went to the off-campus restaurant (Country Kitchen) which was good food, good service and nice views. I'd recommend this place every day of your stay. We drove to & rented bikes at the discovery center and rode throughout the gardens. We knew there was bike rentals at Robin Lake which we could've walked to... but a staff member at the hotel said they were closed. Very nice! Enjoyed a drink at the Robin Lake bar overlooking the beach. Very nice!! Love the grounds although you can tell some of the buildings are in need of TLC. We swam in the pool and used the hot tubs. Kudos b/c the hot tub's actually worked! But the pool had tons of dead bugs floating in the water around the 4 of us using it and probably 8-10 dead roaches around the pool's borders. The resort manager and his assistant came out to correct some blown over umbrellas but no one else came to address the dead insects. Dinner at Piedmont- wife ordered the salmon and I got a bad feeling... like I was in a cafeteria and didn't want to risk the cost of the filet mignon ($50) in that setting so I just got a salad with cut-up chicken breast. Salmon tasted fishy and was nothing to write home about. My chicken had grill marks that looked like they were not made at the Piedmont and appeared to be pressed chicken vs an actual breast. We were offered free dessert b/c it was a special day for us but the dessert was under-whelming and looked like it had just come out of a package too. A very disappointing experience... especially since we remembered the upscale restaurant Callaway used to have over by the golf course (now closed). Piedmont definitely has a cafeteria feel... with booths, young kids and baby noises abound. Definitely not resort level!! We did visit the 24/7 gym and found it to be a very nice gym with both free weights and machines. 2d breakfast - we ate at the Piedmont for convenience since we were checking out that morning. Again, cafeteria feelings!! Booths, kids, lots of noises, service was slow and we waited for the bill way too long. And here's the thing... it wasn't busy at all!! Hardly anyone in the restaurants or in the hotel. And a nice African-American couple we met at the pool said their bed was uncomfortable so they asked for another room but the front desk said they were booked and couldn't move them?!? You gotta be kidding! There was no way the resort was booked. It was a ghost town. They left the same day we did. And we didn't golf but we do golf and we could tell by our bike ride around the course that the greens were not kept up. They were yellowish when the grass around them was green (it was a very rainy week beforehand so it wasn't for lack of water) and a couple greens were littered with what looked like duck poop. Overall, we're concerned for the resort financially. It appears that they're building more homes in Callaway which we hope they get a lot more money from... to make needed facility improvements and to create a fine-dining option with a chef who takes pride in his dishes. We spent $2000+ for 2 nights b/c we were celebrating 34 yrs of marriage and fondly remembered it used to have a resort feel (7 years ago). We left there thinking "what a waste of money" because we certainly didn't feel like we were at a resort while we were there. If it weren't for the beautiful grounds... we'd never go back but...because of that restful feeling you get from the nature there... we may give them another shot.

The flowers were completely wrong, and the coordinator--who was new--caused several issues, including handing out corsages and boutonnieres to the wrong guests. The timeline wasn't followed, and the flow of the event felt disjointed. My photographer even had to step in to help coordinate, which is definitely not part of her job. While I understand that the coordinator was new, it was still very frustrating, especially for the amount we were paying. My advice: choose the cheapest package and pick your own vendors for a smoother experience. The venue is beautiful, but the lack of professionalism and organization made for a stressful day.

Beware! An epic rip off. Flea infested, filthy beyond belief, cockroaches (live and dead), safety…read morecode violations a mile long (these are serious; worn open live wiring hanging off front of building, rusty nails sticking out of benches, rotten and broken railings and steps, etc.) more broken and substandard appliances and utensils than you can count, and the promise of a response to our complaints but nothing. We started a list of problems but eventually stopped because it was just exhausting. I could make this review ten pages long with specific problems but it would lead to the same conclusion. This place is an expensive dump. The owners clearly don't care and are milking this chalet for every penny they can get. They are slum lords, full stop, and I wish we had carefully read the reviews of this disgusting place before we paid $6900 for a weeks stay. To be fair (and this explains the uneven reviews) there are a lot of chalets on site and some are in way better shape then others. Sadly the largest chalet (#62), and likely most expensive, is in derelict disrepair. Under no circumstances should you stay here, unless you wish a bag full of fleas, filth and black mold to take home as souvenirs of your "visit" to the Pine Mountain Resort Chalets.

Phone in the room didn't work. Lights didn't come on. Found a bagel with a bite out of it in the microwave. Worst of all was the WiFi and the service. My first two times staying here my room was in the building connected to the lobby. This time however I was in the second building which is not attached to the first. The Wi-Fi in this building does not work at all. I went down to complain and asked to be moved but was told the first building was completely full. The employee tried to tell me that it must be my devices that aren't connecting. Yet I can get Wi-Fi perfectly fine in the lobby and around the first building but when I went to my room. His response was that no other guest have complained. I asked other guests around my room if they could get Wi-Fi and the answers were a resounding no. They say they have free Wi-Fi but it only works for one of the two buildings so you just have to get lucky I guess. The staff was so rude that I canceled my reservation and will never come back. I'm not the type of person that usually writes reviews so this place was pretty horrible for me to take the time to do this. Don't stay here!

The person who "greeted" me upon check in asked me repeatedly if I had a dog with me in an accusatory fashion, like I was trying to sneak a dog in. She really got kind of weird about it, LOL, people must sneak dogs in a lot - but it only costs $10 to bring a dog, so this should have alerted me to the quality of both the hotel and clients. Alas, what do you do at 9:00 PM in rural GA after a 9 hour drive? Suck it up, right?! So, the dog inquisition was kind of strange but mildly amusing. I mean, really, what do you expect, it is $77 hotel in Pine Mountain, GA. But, it gets worse. Dried food (I hope it was food - this is my best guess) on the carpet, hair and filth in the corners of the bathrooms, filthy tub/drain. Drunk people pounding and screaming on my door at 3:30 AM to come out so they could kick my a**...not sure what this was all about, but when we called down to the office for assistance, they told us to call the police if we needed help. It's all pretty funny in a gross and redneck way in retrospect. However, I will never stay there again and I would be hard pressed to stay at any Days Inn in the future. For $80.00, I stayed at a La Quinta in Ocala, Florida (another small town) that was quiet, neat and clean with a friendly staff.
