There are at least two designated homeless parking facilities in San Jose that also provide services, food, case management, and so on. At the very least, if the Cambrian Community Center is going to permit all this going on in the parking lot, they should provide additional security and lighting.

After OOS, kids attend highly selective high schools, and doing great at rigorous classes; which is again a great compliment to OOS teachers for good preparation. OOS does a great job at helping their 8th grade students with the high school admission process. The school community is wonderful, great families, many of which became our close friends. The classes are small, allowing each student to grow. There are always lots of opportunities for parents to be actively involved in school life, but it is not mandatory if your busy life does not allow you to do it. Highly recommended this school!

The Balanced Learning curriculum is fantastic--it strikes the perfect mix of structured academics and creative play. I'm constantly amazed by how much both of my girls are learning, from their social skills and independence to their early reading and math concepts. The facility is always clean, secure, and bright, which gives us total peace of mind. Communication from the administration is excellent, and we love getting the daily updates and photos. Also, the school has wonderful mascots and lots of special activities and fun seasonal events throughout the year. And of course you can't beat the school hours (7am to 6pm). The school provided snacks and healthy lunches as well. Moreover, we received updates throughout the day on the Procare app, along with a daily summary of our son's activities. We were able to get our son into our elementary school of choice, and there is no doubt that Primrose School of Willow Glen played an instrumental role in achieving that. I can't recommend this pre-school highly enough. If you are interested be sure to schedule a tour and start the process early, as I understand there is a waiting list...and rightfully so.

This year was my second time participating in Our Beautiful Day. There was so many different projects to choose from. I decided to serve at InnVision Revision which provides housing and meal services to homeless families. They had a HUGE pantry that need a lot of reconstruction and help. Also, the building and kitchen were in need of much repair. It was amazing to see people with huge hearts serving with Beautiful Day to accomplish a night and day transformation. I seriously could not believe how much of a difference two days of hard work could accomplish. I saw families working together to sand down stair cases and paint doors. I helped with gardening, which is amazing because I DO NOT have a great thumb by no means... I could go on forever, but if you are looking for a way to give back to your community and neighbors check Our Beautiful Day Organization.

From the very beginning, we were welcomed with open arms, and we've felt like part of a caring, supportive community ever since. Her teacher, Miss Rebekkah, has been with her the entire time--and I honestly believe she is heaven-sent. The level of care, compassion, and dedication she pours into her students is something so rare and beautiful. She has made such a profound impact on my daughter's life, and by extension, on our entire family. I also want to recognize her amazing para, Isabel. She is an absolute gem--kind, patient, and so deeply committed to my daughter's growth and well-being. It's clear every day that she genuinely cares, and knowing that my daughter has both Isabel and Miss Rebekkah in her corner brings me so much peace and gratitude. Every staff member at PACE is wonderful. They go above and beyond, not just meeting the students' needs but truly seeing them--celebrating their strengths, patiently guiding them through challenges, and treating each child with dignity, love, and respect. And one time I delivered 15-30 boba teas to the fine folks who work at the center. They left a STRONG TIP!! The students and their teachers walk past my window every day. The employees park in front of my house. When school lets out, a minor traffic jam hems up the intersection. It is because these fine folks are doing the best they can without the type of facility they want or need. They are kind, caring, smart, educated people who care about others and the community. The families that arrive to pick up their students are all nice. They don't want to be a nuisance. AND THEY ARE NOT! If you have a person on the spectrum, they would be in good hands receiving education from this fine center. They are good neighbors to have. They've brightened many a dull day for me by simply saying hello. I'm sad to leave this area, my home. I was born two miles from here. But leave I must. This corner is filled with great neighbors. They enjoy the sunsets looking down Pruneridge and also forest. They helped me out for my moving sale. But one of my favorite neighbors is the Autism center for education. It's because the people who work here and attend for education are good people making a difference in this world. This corner is nearly a paradise. I'm kissing all my neighbors goodbye. These people are the best!!!!! So long, wonderful neighbors!

Please call to double-check about the exact hours, but I am fairly sure that it begins at 1:30pm. I volunteered for Sunday Friends when I was a high school student, and I remember enjoying the time that I spent there. According to the website, about 50 families participate on a typical Sunday Friends afternoon. Children enjoy attending these events because they can do arts and crafts projects, make freshly squeezed orange juice, and prepare and eat snacks. Throughout the afternoon, volunteers reward children for their good behavior with tickets. At the end of the day, kids are able to redeem their tickets for personal items, school supplies, toys, etc. I would highly recommend Sunday Friends to any families who may be struggling financially. In addition, high school students or anyone who is interested in donating their time should definitely look into volunteering with Sunday Friends. They are always accepting donations to help supply the treasure chest. If you make a donation, Sunday Friends will send you handwritten letters thanking you personally from the children and adults who received the goods. We absolutely loved their play-based learning model. It felt almost Montessori-style, allowing the kids to choose their own learning experiences while providing guidance, structure, and encouragement along the way. The small class sizes gave each student the opportunity to grow and learn at their own pace. During the TK program, my daughters learned to write their names, recognize and write their alphabet and sounds, count numbers, and so much more. I'm so sad our Woodhaven era has come to an end. We will greatly miss the incredible staff, students, parents, and truly the most magical preschool!
