We were advised that there is a new menu offered here now and that the chef has over 15 years experience overall and has been in Australia 6 years. The menu looked contemporary and very interesting: we quickly selected the corn fritters and the Tunisian baked eggs. We were knocked out by the sheer quality of both dishes. It's beautiful food. The corn fritters were with smoked salmon and poached eggs. They're lovely fluffy fritters with great flavour including a fascinating hint of spice. Ditto the gorgeous baked eggs. These are the best I've ever had. The previous best were those at Jerry Joy in Thornbury but these topped those to my astonishment. They are rich and substantive again with delicate hints of spice. And, whoever decided to add the slice of lemon is a visionary too. The acidity is just beautiful with the dish. We finished with coffee and red velvet cake. Both were wonderful again. The coffees were expertly made, a real Melbourne coffee. The cake was excellent too. Lovely, tasty and moist. The perfect finish. This was an unexpectedly great meal. We loved the place, the food and the service. The world's most stunning woman and I commented to each other that this was a pretty much the near perfect brunch. Put Servery and Spoon in the inner suburbs and they'd be fighting off customers and have lines around the block. It was that good. Finally, I'm conscious that I'm giving another 5. This is another case of not having the capacity to give a half mark. A 4.5 would have been optimal, but a 4 far too low. In those circumstances, there's no option but to choose the higher mark. Lots of seating available both inside and outside.  Lots of free street parking (but 1P which is never sufficient when it comes to cafes).  I found the menu quite different as it had two types of burgers, a croque-monsieur, a lamb shoulder moroccan salad, chia pudding, some interesting pancakes, and a chickpea dish. None of these dishes had eggs in them. On the very left hand side, they had eggs on toast, the big breakfast, and smashed avo toast.  My friend and I decided to get the lamb shoulder moroccan salad which was shredded tender lamb (looked like pulled lamb, very fine and long strands), dotted with pomegranate seeds and submerged in sheep's yoghurt. It was nice but felt like it needed to be eaten with some bread, or pita bread. It seemed more of a side dish rather than breakfast/lunch or main dish so quite disappointing.  The roast chicken burger with 4 thin slices of chorizo, some jalapenos and some mayo was slightly larger than a slider and quite bland. I only liked the brioche bun but the filling was ok. My friend who was starving didn't eat all of her food.  The coffee was very weak and my friend did not like her white hot chocolate.  Service was ok. Split bills taken. They do ubereats for most of their menu items (brunch on ubereats - wow). Average food.

The arancini balls they ordered as a side apparently tasted like they were from the freezer and just heated up. The staff were slow to clear away the tables, and when taking away the coke bottle, there wasn't an offer to get another one. Desserts all sounded good; various flavours of cheesecake and other chocolate cakes and sticky date puddings. But all of them were a bit sickly sweet, and the ice cream that came with it tasted like diet soft serve. On the plus side, there was good background music and nice big glass windows that were opened to let the warm night air in and it was fun watching people walk by. Would I come here again though? I don't think so. I've tried it and it certainly was ok, without being outstanding. There was nothing overly memorable about the meal that I'd rave about and it will be forgotten in a week or two. We put in our food order and it took well over 30 minutes to receive anything. We then got 3/4 of our food, with one person missing their lamb ribs for an additional 15 minutes after everyone else had gotten their food. Before his food came out, the waitress came and asked us how everything was tasting (pretty good). No census taken on the lamb yet to come. The lamb was mushy and drowned in BBQ sauce resulting in an unsavory texture and flavor. The bones were being pulled out of the pile of meat. (There is a huge difference between meat that is tender enough to fall off of the bone and the bone just completely sliding out). He left over half of his food because it did not taste good at all. We let the waitress know, and she apologized and told us we would not have to pay for the meal. She came back a few minutes later and told us the lamb always comes that way (concerning), and we actually would only receive a 50% discount on the lamb. When we attempted to contest, the individual in charge was lying to our faces about how the lamb plate was completely finished and no one ever said that we would get a full comp on the lamb. They also lied about the fact that the waitress had come to ask how his food was and he said it was good. Lying to our face about something that happened to us is objectively crazy, and ruined The Quarter for us. Disgraceful, rude, and terrible service (during a time in which 2 tables are in the restaurant). Spend your money somewhere else that values their customers' experiences.

The Timber folded eggs were delicious, light and fluffy and quite filling! With a very healthy heap of goat cheese on top! Added the smoked salmon and it was just as delicious, and a good portion size. The service was very quick. Cool cafe and decor, very open and bright light!
