There are rows of cherry trees which will bloom with cherry blossoms during the season. On weekends, you will see lots of kites flying in the sky. I also come here in the wee hours to catch aurora when the geomagnetic storms are happening. It is a nice walk around the park. Parking is free and the washroom is nearby. There is a cafe on the other side of the parking lot. It is busy on weekends and summer. You will see many people with pop up tent and canopy to shelter from the sun, having a picnic or bbq.

it's funny to think the day started with questionable navigation and the very real possibility of…read moreending up in surrey. fortunately, a perfectly timed, well executed uturn changed our fate. instead, we found ourselves at westminster pier park, and what a happy accident that turned out to be. nestled along the fraser river, the park offers a beautiful waterfront walk with sweeping river views, wide boardwalks, landscaped gardens, and plenty of places to sit and watch the world go by. it's hard to believe that much of the park was devastated by a major fire in 2020 and later rebuilt. today, it feels fresh, vibrant, and full of energy, with thoughtful design that blends play spaces, green spaces, and the waterfront into one inviting destination. the walk itself was lovely. we strolled along the boardwalk in the warm sunshine, spotted a blue heron near the water, and watched city workers planting colourful garden beds that added even more life to the scenery. between the passing tugboats, river traffic, and ever changing views, there was always something to catch our attention. the playground was an unexpected highlight. what started as a quick look quickly turned into a full blown play session. we lounged in the hammocks, laughed at how difficult they were to get out of, climbed into the twirly spinning round bucket that propel ourselves around using nothing but our body weight, and bounced on the spring loaded seesaws like a couple of kids who had completely forgotten about acting their age. the playground is thoughtfully designed for all kinds of play, making it just as enjoyable for adults rediscovering their inner child as it is for the kids it was built for. we got free parking, a great lunch, beautiful views, lots of laughs, and a reminder that sometimes the best days are the ones you never planned. all in all, it turned out to be a much better adventure than the one the gps seemed to have planned for us.

This is a man made park that was built for residence of New West. I don't come to New West often…read morebut am surprised that this park existed and I don't know about it. Its a mirror of the downtown coal harbour seawalk. It has a pretty nice stretch from one end to the other. So what's interesting here: -There are hammocks set up for people to relax -There are sun loungers that flip from one end to the other depending where you want to face -Volleyball courts for small gatherings -A nice green area for people who just want to sit in the sun -A kids play area -A nice path for walkers like me. This is a very well laid and thought through park. Lots of design ideas has been put into it. I am impressed.

Kingsway, the main drag leading into Vancouver proper, witnesses more than its share of traffic, as do the various side streets. So it's a testament to the vision of the founders of the town that this oasis exists. While one can occasionally hear the hum of the Metro or the nearby avenues, by and large it's a place to quickly and efficiently get away from it all. If walking and nature viewing don't fully complete your needs, there are plenty of more physical activities to partake in or watch others partake in - the stadium, the pool, the golf course, the picnic tables - you name it, Central Park has it.

The Central Park Perimeter Trail is one of the longest continuous rubberized tracks for walking and running at 3.5km. LOVE IT!! There is a 2.5-kilometer outdoor fitness circuit with 12 stations designed for cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility. Tennis courts can use some upgrading or expansion though. Lots of space for picnics and some are under covered spaces. Summer is usually occupied by church groups. There's an area where people have their RC boats in the pond. Not sure if the ducks are annoyed by them or not. This park has almost everything.

Random secret hidden park by Sapperton area. Found this thing by accident while wandering the…read moreearth. Parking is available along the side streets at the ends (NW and SE) of the park. Fun fact - the Chin church at the SE end of the park used to be a prison building (1 of 3 still remaining). The other 2 are a bit up along Richmond Street (look for the curved driveway) and the end of nearby Governors Court. The park has a couple of random sculptures, as well as a pond with a nice photogenic arched stone bridge (similar to the one at Stanley Park). There's a small green area, then the rest of the park is basically a single long trail through a (you guessed it) ravine. The NW side of the park has 2 exits - one is a pile of stairs, and the other is a bunch of switchbacks. Both lead to a residential area. There are a lot of people walking dogs here, and generally they're well behaved, which is nice. Something to keep in mind though, as the trail is a bit narrow so some contact is inevitable. The other thing that's really nice about this park is that there's a lot of tree cover along the entire length. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to visit this park, but it does make for a nice stroll.

This is my absolute favourite place to get out and walk our dog (on leash)…read more You wander past the Glenbrook Amenities Centre (which really, is just a Hall that houses a daycare and can be rented out for weddings), and through a path which takes you beside a beautiful pond (sometimes you can see a turtle or two), and extremely unique landscaping. There is grass for the kids to play on, a few benches, and of course, a garbage can for all your needs. Ample garbage cans are most definitely a necessity if you have a dog... Or mess... Or anything really. Anyway, the path will then split, with one side (to the right) on a on a bit of an incline, and the other side of the path, continuing flat'ish. The inclined path will take you about half-way through the park (less than a half km), and you can either choose to get out of the park and walk through a residential lane, OR you can walk down the semi steep incline to meet back-up with the flat'ish path. The flat'ish path still has an incline (you'll find that out if you try and run it, and like me, you're horribly out of shape...) but is suitable for everyone, including gravel-friendly strollers. Tons of interesting flora/fauna and straight-up gorgeous at any time of the year. Big reason why this place is great to walk the dog (for us, at least) is because all the trees limit the pouring rain AND they provide ample shade on those sunny days. Our dog is a little old lady who hates the rain & gets overheated easily... She's basically a 50lb cat... You can leave the park through to Victoria Hill, or keep going t'll the end (about 1 or so KM from the start), where you'll pop-up right near Canada Games Pool (not near a Starbucks... Still another few blocks away).

Mary is after only space for a few cars to park. But after a maximum of 10 minutes, depending on your fitness level, you arrive at a truly spectacular sight. The view of Howe Sound and the Straight of Georgia is beautiful and well worth the walk in. If you time you are arrival perfectly you will have one of the two really good spot at the end the trail to watch the sunset. It is a really romantic place for that. Is also an excellent place if you want to have a picnic or a family outing on a warm summer day as the breeze from the ocean made it quite cool.

Gardens, the baseball diamonds, some tennis courts, a soccer field, and even a playground and water park and picnic area. I guess the only real downside to this park is that it's quite noisy as it is located right next to McBride Blvd. There are a couple of pedestrian bridges to get across the road though, which is nice.

Queen's Park is a fantastic part of New Westminster…read more Offering picnic benches, an off-leash dog area, playgrounds, a spray park, as well as tennis and pickleball courts... I'm sure I'm missing some other fantastic amenities. In addition is the beautiful rose garden which is often used as a wedding venue. Did you know Queen's Park is one of seven New Westminster parks to allow responsible drinking within designated areas? That's right! So bring a bottle of your finest vino out with the picnic basket when you visit.

I'm actually very confused what can/cannot be done at the water area. As they signs are rather vague. I feel more signs like (no swimming, no lifeguard on duty, jelly fish etc... ) should be visible.

For my 450th review, I'll share one of my favourite known but not so known favourite outdoor places…read more- Deas Island Regional Park! Just after the tunnel this park has a lot of offer. In the summer, you can rent kayaks off the dock. There are plenty of picnic tables and public washrooms closer to the front of the park. However, if you drive a little further in, there is a huge field with more picnic tables and an area with a large gazebo and more tables. There are outhouses in this location too. Throughout the perimeter of the park, there are easy, flat trails covered and lines with beautiful trees. You can find dogs on leash and horses on these trails. One of best parts if that this park isn't heavily frequented so it's not overly crowded and you can enjoy the sights and feels of nature at your leisure. Came here recently for a snowy engagement shoot and it was magical! A little wonderland in a place you wouldn't expect.
