Where should I start this company? Hands down, the worst company I have ever done business with. First off, we received the runaround when my wife and I tried to use our credit card for an insurance claim from a previous couch that we purchased. It took five trips to the Canton store before they figured out how to use our credits five times! Secondly, when they delivered our furniture, not all of the items that we purchased were delivered. When I asked where our white chair was, I was told it must be on backorder. It would have been nice if they had made us aware of it. When they tried to deliver our brown leather chair, they did not have the correct pieces. They told us that it would be delivered the following day. After they left, I went downstairs to sit on the brown leather couch when I noticed something. Can you make a guess at what I noticed? Two holes in the drywall, one by where they placed the couch, and the other was in the wall going up the steps. To add insult to injury, the gentleman who delivered our furniture did not say a word about the damage they caused . I'm not sure how they did not notice it's about the size of a fist. It was pretty obvious that Stevie Wonder himself would have seen it. I understand that accidents happen and people make mistakes, but the lack of integrity in not owning up to causing damage to someone's home shows a lack of a moral compass. To me, this suggests that the leadership prioritizes the almighty dollar over customer service. Last but certainly not least was this evening's delivery. When we found out that our brown leather chair could not be delivered that day, my wife received an alert on her phone stating that our chair would be delivered the next day between 4:30 pm and 9:00 pm. Do you wanna know what time the chair was delivered? It was not anywhere close to the timeframe given. Come on, just take a guess. Well, if you guess 1130pm, you are correct. Delivering to some at 1130 a night is a colossal mistake. Who in their right mind would think this is a good business practice? So once again, your incompetent employees and leadership failed, dropped the ball, or whatever you want to call it. This experience the past week, dealing with your business has been a nightmare. They still have not provided a timeframe for our white couch to be delivered. It's frightening to think what's going to happen when you attempt to deliver our last item. If I were a betting I would bet on that you will somehow mess that up as well. I guess what upset me the most is that your company charges Delta airline prices, but you gave us Spirit airline quality service. I look forward to hearing back from you. To be upfront and honest I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother who had mixed feeling about her experience with Gardner-White. Her plan that day was to visit Gardner-White and then La-Z-Boy in Canton, Mi with hopes of buying a sofa and recliner. When she was approached by a sales rep she told the person her plans for the day. The Rep responded with "La-Z-Boy is closed for remodeling". Mom trusted this person's word and then spent the next 1 1/2 hrs picking out her sofa, recliner and another chair she decided to buy. My mother said the Sales Rep was very helpful and really took care of her every whim. However, the next day she called La-Z-Boy and was told that they were not closed. She told them what the Rep at Gardner-White said and the La-Z-Boy Associate responded with, "The people at Gardner-White are liars". When mom told me her story I called Gardner-White and nicely told them her story. The house was under renovation We stored it in the garage still covered in boxed on December 31. We opened it today to put it together-it's damaged and unrepairable. When calling I was told they have a seven day policy for returning damaged piecesand that's too bad- We aren't doing anything for you. Oh, I hope I can save others from experiencing what I would call piss poor customer service! Two days ago our couch and recliner were delivered, and the delivery gentleman were professional, quick and did a wonderful job except they were missing a box of the feet for the couch . They advised me to call the store and make another appointment and someone would come out and attach the feet to our couch so I called the store and made an appointment for today between 1 and 4 PM. It's now 530 and I called the store to say what happened to the delivery people that were supposed to come out today? The girl kept me on hold for 5 minutes and then she came back and said "Sir, we had to order the feet for your couch and it will be 8 to 10 weeks." no one called me to tell me this!!! I am furious! After a sales associate told us we could get all of our furniture delivered in two days, we waited over a month for our headboard from Gardener White. They could not put the bed together without it. Finally, when they bring the headboard, they show up at 10:30 at night, and scratched my freshly painted walls. After unboxing the rest of the bed, the guy tells us, "somethings wrong with the drawer on the bed, you'll have to call someone". Proceded to leave the mess from unpackaging in our room, even though I paid for them to take the boxes with them. Every piece of furniture we got has some defect. I ordered 5 piece modular 1 and a recliner at 7:30pm on Wednesday night - they were at my door the next morning at 945!! In and out in under a half hour. The delivery drivers were nice and helpful. We were recently burned by another company (the other company took 3+ weeks, took one look at our stairwell and said the couch wouldn't fit loaded it back up and left). We paid nearly $4500 for a "High Quality" Aireloom "plush" mattress and within two weeks, our Fitbit reported sleep scores dropped to the 70's to low 80's. We were both tossing and turning all night as our arms and legs were falling asleep from cut off circulation. Every morning we woke up sore and exhausted. The 180 sleep guarantee is a Lie. We tried to return the mattress within two weeks and exchange it for a better one and we were told by "Buddy" the salesman that we had to give it more time top get used to the new mattress. We told him it isn't working at all and he said that they have no authority at the store level to return anything, that our only option is to call the main corporate number. Well that went nowhere at all, no call back, nothing. Interestly, Gardner White unlinked the mattress reviews on their website so you can't read them or leave a review. If I sleep in a random recliner in our living room, I get a Fitbit sleep score over 92, and if I sleep in the "High Quality" Aireloom mattress, I get a 78. This is bullshit. The 180 sleep guarantee is a lie. Mattress Cover Price Mark Up Scam And don't pay $249 for the mattress cover, you can get the exact same one for $39 at Target. Nothing but a scam. WARNING - Use extreme caution when pursuing a purchase with Gardner White. A recent experience and, ultimately, a considerable purchase exposed the hypocrisy of this big-box retail furniture store. Everything appears inexpensive, professional and comforting to the consumer when being bombarded by CEO Rachel Stewart and the continuous ads circulating weekday mornings. Nothing could be further from the truth. From setting foot into the Canton-store location to the delivery of our purchase (posturepedic mattress with base which originally was stated "any base will work")...confusion has run rampant. The required purchased items to the return/refund/exchange policies were not delivered clearly and, when deciding I was unhappy and wanted to return the purchase, I was met with opposition and a stern "nothing we can do." It was noted on that visit that returns and refunds are in our QR code, which was also omitted from the original visit. Reluctantly, a delivery date was scheduled (which Gardner White has more say than the consumer does, stressing seven days or less) and the beginning toward confusion of what was ordered. A phone call between delivery and the office was made and that discussion settled very little. A second delivery date and time period was scheduled and on the eve of that delivery date, much to my dismay, emails and texts were sent for a different delivery time. Another phone call was required to confirm the original scheduling date and time. Listening and talking with others...this is "nothing new" when purchasing through Gardner White. I wish I had such discussions prior to walking in to the Canton store one day after Christmas. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. My patents purchase a bed and a electric, rising chair. My father is 88, my mother 78. The service was terrible. Delivery was scheduled for the next morning, 8am to noon time frame. We received a call at 7:10am stating the delivery would not be until the next day, 11am to 2pm. My parents were very disappointed. Because delivery was delayed, i scheduled a conferred call at 10:30. At 10:10 a call from the delivery driver said he would be there in 10 minutes. I had to scramble to get ready for them. I was on my call when they arrived and spoke briefly to the driver ( who was very accommodating and polite) and then watched delivery from the front yard. The drives left. When i got inside the mattress my parents Pythagoras was not the one delivered. A less expensive one was delivered. Absolutely horrible. Had to give one start, neither one is warranted. read more

Let me start by saying I'll never purchase anything from Gardner White again. I went there looking for 2 mattresses. One for me and one for my mother. I ended up purchasing two mattresses and was told over and over by the salesperson that I had 6 months to return the mattresses if I wasn't satisfied. What they don't tell you is the cost associated with exchanging a mattress which is 10% of the cost of the mattress and a $200 restocking fee. They leave that part out. And they don't tell you that you have to keep the mattress a minimum of 60 days before you can exchange it. Also to return it someone from the company has to come out and inspect it which I guess is understandable. But they don't tell you not to remove the tags or you can't exchange it! Thank goodness I didn't remove them! Very very deceptive business practices. You don't get all the terms for exchanging the mattress until you actually have paid which is very shady to me. What a joke. I ordered a mattress with delivery from these clowns. I have a staircase with a landing, and it's challenging to move a mattress around. It can be done, but it's a pain. The lazy pile of a delivery guy didn't want to do it, so he made up a story about how he saw a bug, and refused to take my old mattress. The store was less than useful. When it happened, it was after hours, so I couldn't talk to anybody. When I called back the next day, they made me wait on hold for 20 minutes to talk to someone. Don't waste your time!! White glove delivery will leave your items destroyed.. they don't fully wrap the furniture- the legs stay completely unwrapped during transit. They will send someone to do arts and crafts in your house on the new furniture you just spent your hard earned money on instead of replacing legs that cost $33. I was told I could purchase the new legs on my own dime even though I wasn't the one who damaged them. They will take weeks to respond or to give a decision on repairs vs replacing, even when you have photos from the showroom floor compared to what showed up at your door... and that decision will be "repair" at best.... We bought a mattress from Gardner White, Canton (Feb 23). We were probably not the least difficult customers they've ever had - 2 different visits and we tried at least 20 different mattresses - but the sales people were still pretty responsive. However, at no time did we think we were dealing with a firm where honesty and fair dealings were primary concerns. This has more to do with Gardner White policy rather than with the sales people. Several things stick out. They would deliver the new mattress and cart away the old ONLY if the old mattress was spotless. This last part didn't come out till the very end. (Ours was, not an issue for us, but I believe we were exceptions, rather than the rule.) The mattress was returnable but only if we bought one of their $35 (Amazon) mattress covers for $120. The fact that the mattress was returnable was on prominent signs all over the place but the fact that you had to buy the mattress cover, again, only came out at the end. There was a $300 promotion but they refused to take this off the total and only made it available through a somewhat intricate system of requesting 3 separate, time-limited $100 credit cards over the internet. Most people will find it almost impossible to get the full $300 back. We made delivery easy. Good thing. I would not have trusted the delivery people that showed up to successfully complete a difficult delivery. read more

They came out because I had a spot, but because I had two spots it voided the warranty of cleaning it so then I just asked for my money back then. That was a negative. They Delivered a structurally defective sofa, and I noticed and reported within 20 mins of delivery; I was told I would be charged 25% ''restocking'' fee because I would not accept someone to come out and 'repair' it on site. Can I give a negative score? I shopped at this building for years when it was an Art Van store and was a bit hesitant to try Gardner White due to their reputation as for selling low quality products. We decided to give them a chance. here's what happened... My spouse and I went in on April 21 and bought 2 XL twin mattresses and pads. I put one into immediate use and all was good. This week I went to set up the second set and found a large questionable stain on the purportedly "new" pad. I removed it and my wife called the store and was told by the woman who answered the phone that we should "just bring it back and we will exchange it". Today I did just that and was informed by a manager(?) that we needed to contact the manufacturer. I call B.S. - You sold it, you fix it. The "manager" informed me that it was new when it was delivered implying that I was a liar. At over $100 I expect the glorified fitted sheet to be NEW and UNSOILED. I never expect to be called a liar by a GW employee. My experience with the manager today was the low point in this transaction. He was too lazy to get out of his chair to talk to me and too dumb to know you don't insult customers. Horrific customer service. Will never purchase anything from them. Ever! Went in to check on the status on an order my mom purchased for me. That was a mistake. We spoke to a person," Diana" at the customer service desk. To say she has no customer service skills, communication skills or interpersonal skills would be a compliment. I don't recall the last time I spoke to a person that was that rude, or condescending. I asked what the status of the table was. Do not shop here. I'd leave 0 stars if I could. Bought a power reclining sofa, and they didn't bring a power cord. Delivery driver tried to shave plastic off a cord they had instead. Called customer service and was told we'd get one four days later. Went to the store and complained so manager gave us one off the floor. Then the head rest didn't work, and other call to customer service. Then the footrest started to make scraping noises. So we decided to cancel the order, told we'll not be refunded almost $1000 - they'll charge a 25% stocking fee, we paid white glove! delivery of $150, and we'll have to call and talk to a manager with the warranty company to MAYBE get our warranty money back for a sofa we won't own. Got white gloves service, when the delivery was being made, complained about the scratches on the pillowed. We're promised replacement but it's more than 6 months , no sign of it. Customer service is terrible. No communication system at all. Just stay away if you don't want to lose money. Reported them to BBB. I bought a sectional on-line and paid for white glove delivery, they showed up on time brought a piece of the sectional 1/2 way up the ramp, vs stairs and claimed they could not get it in the door. All they had to do was stand it up and walk it in. I have two 8' plus sofa's in the house and a over 9' display case all went in without issue. They wouldn't let her return a mattress that ultimately left her in tears upon its delivery that forced to sleep on the floor due to its discomfort. For a labor day sale me and my wife went to this location. Its the old Art-Van building on Ford Road. We got there, and were greeted by this dude standing in front of the entrance. Thats where the customer service ended. We wandered around the store till we found a sofa that we liked and a desk under computer desk. If you can call it a computer desk. Maybe for laptops not PC. There was no sales folk around to greet us or sale the items to us. So we wandered around some more till we found 2 guys lounging on a railing. We approached them with our concerns and one of the guys named Bedford was willing to assist. The rest of the experience went well, we setup payment on the sofa and left. We were told sofa will be delivered the following day the desk was back ordered and will be delivered mid Sept. The next day promptly they came and delivered the sofa. They took a pic of it thanked us for our business and left. My wife cleaned and disinfected the sofa with Lysol, and 15 mins later I sat on it. It was a double reclining sofa so naturally I pull the lever to recline. It dont work. The latch is broken. I sit on the rhs side now and try reclining the feet part comes up it dont recline. By then it was quite late so I called the next day. Some lady answered I explained our situation she assured me that on Tue the 13th of Sept they will send a tech to evaluate and or replace the sofa. 2nd prob. Someone called from Gardner White and left a voice mail that they will be delivering the desk on the 12th. I immediately called them back spoke to a guy in customer service named Steve, he apologized for the miss communication and told me the desk will be delivered on Tuesday the 13th. Incidentally he stated whoever setup the repair evaluation appt forgot to hit the confirm button so there was nothing else scheduled for Tue the 13th but he will fix that as well. I thanked Steve and hung up the phone. Yesterday 9/11/2022 I recieved multiple texts that the desk will be delivered on Monday 9/12/22 between 8:30 and 11:30am. There was a 248-481-2200 number to text or call if rescheduling was needed. 1st I texted to them there was no response. Then I called them and left a voice mail. Then my wife called them and left a voicemail requesting delivery be on Tuesday the 13th. At 1:18 am time stamp voice mail that they will be delivering Mon the 12th. Then at 7:54 Mon morning they called telling us they will deliver today. My wife immediately called them back and was assured they will deliver on Tuesday the 13th. At 9am today 9/12/2022 a truck shows up assured us it will take 2 sec to bring the desk in while my wife and I are ready to leave. Comeon Gardner White dont you COMMUNICATE with your delivery trucks?????? Sorry we cant change our schedule or be late to our appointments because you cant follow simple scheduling directions, come back TOMORROW 9/13/22.
