The customer service is good. The issue is there cheap quality furniture. I purchased a leather couch it start peeling after a couple weeks. Real leather just don't peel from sitting on it. I had plenty of leather furniture pieces in my life. So they claim its wear and tear after a couple weeks. Sitting on a couch does not cause couch to come apart. Very poor customer service w/ George Novi. He sold us a bedroom set too short for my husband who he knows is tall. He was trying to push a King bed (for higher profit, of course) and we told him we needed a certain dimension for the room. He failed to tell us that the bed was too short. Ali the store manager replies that we need to keep the mattress over a month for an exchange. Makes no sense, it's still too short. We tried calling George and now, he does not answer the phone. He was pushing a high end soft from us, trying to have us establish with 2 credit cards. I cannot recommend. They do not have your best interest. They also said you will get a $300 reward. The time for bedroom essentials had arrived and I had done prior research on deals and have gone to the GW in Canton and had a pleasant experience there. We found what we were looking for with much glee in the clearance warehouse side. There is so much to see and the set up is well thought out and has a brick lane to follow they the designs and styles. Staff was helpful. Bathrooms are clean and sell supplied. They do allow beverages so bonus for I am rarely without a hot chocolate or chi. I kept it close so no oops's occurred. We left with our list checked off with a pick up and delivery established. Buyers remorse, I recently purchased a reclining sofa and loveseat from Gardener White. That was on October 9 2024. It is now October 30th. The sit features advanced technology. As this date, they have not been able to install an operable loveseat.. They have made numerous attempts and numerous workers to my home. I have buyers remorse because this is stressing me out. I don't feel valued as a long-term customer. Bait and switch when I purchased the set I was told that the cable was so separately and it was on back order. Later I find that the cable is defective when they came out they knew this I wanted to have a new unit sent out because I did not have faith that they would be able to address the issues. When I told them that I did not want the defective loveseat, they said it was beyond the time to do a switch out. Needless to say I didn't find this out until the defective cable was attached. Which time span for this to happen have passed because of the back order status Setting me up for failure they sent those far six people out to get the cable to work properly which hasn't happened as of this date. They charge me $149.49 for what they call white glove delivery I did not receive white glove delivery because, the unit was not operable after all this time I have a bill to pay for the unit. I don't believe in pain for something I don't have. I feel awful about this situation. I should be happy, but I can't be happy because I'm being billed for something that was supposed to be brand new and it's defective and they have had timepersonnel to have this taken care of I've been customer of Gardener White. Make sure you understand the return policy (25%) unless you are given the time to inspect your furniture before the delivery people leave and if a defect is found, refuse the delivery. I found defect after they left but it was too late to return without the 25% fee. MULTIPLE calls (including trying corporate office - what a joke) was able to reduce to 20%. But wait, when they applied the credit to my charge card, they charged 25%. High Delivery fees also. Truly is sad that in this economy, we have a store that cheats their customers and risk potential closing. We all rarely go shopping for furniture. It's not as frequent as shopping for clothes, but when we do. This is one of the places we browse around for good quality furniture. Pleasantries were exchanged, smiles all around. We told her we came for dining sets so she proceeded to show us where most of them are. After a bit of browsing around the dining room sets, me and my significant other picked a nice around 6 piece glass set. She did talk to us about financing options, which is pretty standard for sales associates. Doesn't offend me cause I was in sales before as well. It doesn't mean they think we can't afford the furniture, it just means you have the option to take that route. She handed me off to Hassan to close the transaction and now we have us a $1,000 dining set. I wish i had remembered her name because the lady was so nice and she definitely went above and beyond. I purchased a marble dining room set from Gardner White Taylor location. It wasn't until I needed to move my furniture around and notice that the base to my table had been broken! They knew it was broken when they delivered and put it together. Never said one word to me about the table being broken, instead when I asked why it wasn't sturdy on the floor he told me my floor was uneven and that I needed to purchase something to go under the legs to keep it from rocking so I did just that, like a dummy!! Gardner White sent out a technician who informed me that I am not under warranty and that I had to order my own part and pay for it? Why? Hi, I bought a couch from your Taylor store last week. It was around $1,060. It was delivered 3 days ago, and two of the pillows are in bad condition, and the bottom liner of the couch is falling apart. I am extremely unsatisfied with the condition of this item after a short 3 days for such a pricey couch. Please advise on what to do next? Taylor location needs to be shut down!! Everyone is so crooked at that location from customer service to sales down to the manager! Sherri was my saleman, supposedly the "mattress expert". Well she wasn't an expert in my opinion she sent me the wrong mattress, then said I was lying just to get a new mattress which I was still was under 60 days comfort guarantee so either way, she didn't like it, AND didn't want to have to cover the warranty! They always have fine prints and ways not to cover your mattress! If you do NOT buy the mattress protector they will NOT warranty the product. If the product has any holes, rips or stains it also voids your warranty! You will never get anywhere over the phone, you have to send a request ONLINE. Keep up with it, calling. They will NOT call you! Another way to void the warranty. You only have 10-14 days to pick a new replacement if they approve that your product is defective. Yes I repeat 10-14 days, I guess they get to pick? 10 or 14? Another strange response from them Sherri tries to smooth talk you into what she wants you to do. 3 years later after recieving the correct mattress finally, but then I realized its a defective one!! Their furniture is complete junk! The mattress has no holes, rips or stains... the foam on the inside started to split apart, making the springs exposed internally. Very very uncomfortable! I had a mattress from big lots for 10 years!!!! And was in WAY better condition than my 3 year old mattress. (Which I paid the same price!) August 28,2023 (2 days ago), my husband and I went into the Gardener White in Taylor MI. on Eureka Road wanting to take advantage of their advertised "Labor Day Sale." As soon as we walked in the door, we were approached by a young salesman who asked us what we were shopping for. We started to explain to him what type of mattress we were looking for, before we could finish describing it and our price range, the salesman cut us off and insisted that we try the most expensive mattress in the store. We told him we did not like the mattress, but he kept trying to sell it to us. My husband told him that $4000 was way over what we planned to spend. But this salesman continued to tell us why we did not want to buy a less expensive mattress stating, "it would not last long." We told him that we have two good mattress sets at home that are over 20 years old, we know how to shop for mattresses. He kept pressuring and pushing the $4000 range mattresses. Then he started making jokes about us going to the clearance center or buying a floor model. Things got contentious, he became completely useless to us, acting like he could care less at this point. He then showed us the flat plain mattress and said "yawl flip around on this one for a while, I will be back. Ten minutes later, he came back with another salesman, and he told us "This salesman is going to take over for me." and then proceeded to tell the other man what we were looking for (but he did have a clue himself, because he did not listen to us). We said, goodbye we are leaving, we do not have time for this. As we walked out the door, the first salesman was standing with the other salesman making jokes about having a couple more mattresses in the back they were going to show us. We stood in the parking lot, looked across the street at a mattress store, and went over there. The salesman in that store was mature, professional, had 40 years plus experience in mattress sales. He showed us several options within our stated price range, even showed us the springs that are in some of the mattresses, and explained how they work to create comfort. This week I have gone to this Gardner-White multiple times. My mother had neck surgery on the 22nd and we did not think about sleeping arrangements with her not being able to walk. I immediately went up the the store trying to find a recliner same day. Randall and Sherry both were quick to start looking up stock on the recliners they had and what locations I needed to go to. Eventually we found one and it was a floor sample ready to take home same day. The recliner fit perfectly with my mothers brace and was priced extremely well for being a electric recliner. I was able to get the whole situation handled, with my mother only being out of the hospital for an hour. I then went back to thank them and let them know how appreciative my mother was and of course they brushed it off as no bigger but it was. Randall then remembered that I had briefly brought up that I needed a decently priced sectional for my new home and as I was walking in the store Randall was about to call me about a new floor sample that he could sell. Here I am four days away from the recliner and now waiting on my deliver to come today for that sectional. They both were great sales people!! Not to pushy but at the same time hit all the points that I needed to hear in order to make the purchase. This whole store made the environment very fun and easygoing instead of those creepy sales people that follow you around from a distance. For the other reviews you gotta understand that stock is not what it used to be. So many stores were still putting in orders to manufacturers during the state wide shut down resulting in a major build up in orders--- resulting in waitlists. Now on top of that if there are outbreaks within those manufacturers they have to shut down again resulting in further delay. It's a waiting game t this point. read more

Agh! I am so frustrated with this company. They are not customer focused at all. I feel like I was pressured into buying a dinette set that was poor quality for the price paid for it. We started having issues with it almost from the onset. But because I did not purchase a warranty, I felt like I had no recourse. We have been a customer for about 5 years. We definitely like the showroom here and the salespeople aren't pushy. We have furnished our entire home with furniture and mattresses from this location. I'm writing this poor review after my last trip there. We had a new employee help us out - no problem and I will keep her name private. She got every question answered for us and we bought one of the most expensive mattresses in the store. There was a promo for finding cupcakes online, she said we could bring our code back the next day to receive our $100 off. Cool. Also we were awarded free gift cards from target. The issue with that is she never added our $300 worth of gift cards, so that was a hassle to get them. But the bigger reason for the poor rating was when I came to add my $100 cupcake reward, the manager on duty, Hassan (I believe), made it hell and did not let me use the code. He wanted to argue that it was a day late, then he wanted to argue that black beautyrest mattress was not included in the sale (which I showed him it wasn't in the terms or exclusions), and finally just said no He couldn't do it while being rude. We went to this particular showroom on New Years weekend to look to furnish a family room - honestly we didn't plan on buying much. Somehow I left with a sectional and a custom order chair. How did this transpire? Mainly because our salesperson Deshaun was amazing. He was amazing because he greeted us and then gave us space to wander - absolutely zero pressure. Once we managed to sit on everything in the store and came to a decision - Deshaun was there to get everything dealt with promptly and kept us up to speed the entire time with what was happening. He was definitely a driving factor to why we left with what we did - felt absolutely comfortable and taken care of, we will be back there when we need to furnish another room or three. Oh! I also have to give credit to the great delivery guys we had. Probably the first positive furniture shopping experience I've had in my life. I ordered a mattress that was supposed to be delivered for Mother's Day to my mom as a gift I received the email confirmation and noticed the unit number wasn't on the order so I called and had it updated. The next day it was supposed to be delivered at 1:00 it changed to 1:30 then changed to 4pm then 8- 8:30pm and it then stated delivered at 8:06 pm and it was never delivered no one called . I purchased a sofa in March. I never received notification of a delay in delivery but made several inquiries when the delivery date came and went. It was finally delivered with a missing cushion in July. After many calls to the store manager, several visits to the store and a call from the main office in Auburn Hills the issue was never resolved. With every interaction, I was left with unanswered questions and made to feel like my issue was the least priority. Not until I refunded the sofa during my last visit to the store and voicing my intent to submit a review, we received a phone call from the store manager offering a deal on a close out piece. I ended up reluctantly paying an extra $100 and was also promised a morning delivery the following week by two different associates. I took a half day off of work and was informed late morning that my delivery time was scheduled between 6pm-9pm. I work in a retail establishment and we are specifically trained in customer satisfaction and strive to make every customer experience the best. Why is that a bad thing? Because THERE IS A 25% RESTOCKING FEE. Think about that, if you buy $4,000 worth of furniture, and you want to take it back, they charge you $1,000 JUST TO TAKE IT BACK. Basically, they don't have a return policy in real terms. 2/ Pricing is a game: Because their invoice prices are so cheap, they put up massive sticker prices and make their customers negotiate down. If you're paying anywhere near what was on the sticker you're a fool. Of course, they'll tell you the usual story of quality, price, "let me check with my manager," blah blah blah. 3/ Customer service is nonexistent: Do you have an issue and did you try to call the callcenter? They will take down issues and say they'll get back to you, but they never do. I've tried on like five separate occasions. In 2015 I purchased the leather Jasper reclining collection set for 3 thousand dollars. In the 1st year I had issues with the color peeling off, so the set was replaced after much complaining on my part. Now I am dealing with a structure issue. The arm on the love seat is broken. When looking inside you can clearly see how thin the wood frame is. The additional warranty coverage I purchased through ultrasheild denied my claim on this issue stating that they don't cover "structural defects" turns out based upon reviews ultrasheild has a history of denying claims left and right. That's the company Gardner white uses. So here I am now with a 900$ balance on a set of broken furniture. The bill outlast the life of furniture, so keep that in mind when you intend to spend thousands of dollars. Clearly they don't stand by their products either because I am being instructed to pay 50$ for a service technician to come "look at the damage" and if I decided to have repaired I am responsible for that too because I am outside of the 1yr manufacturer warranty. The only problem was that the rug that came with the set was out of stock. "No problem", he tells me, "if you don't hear from us in a week, gimme a call and I'll get it rushed out to you". Sure. 3 weeks later, I give them a call back. All I'm left with is that it's still out of stock, and if I want to wait one more week, I can come back into the store and pick something else out. I don't want something else, I say, I want the rug that I paid for. I ask if they can check any other stores in the area. I'm told "the computer isn't showing anything". Well I checked my computer, and their website shows the rug in stock at multiple locations in the area. So I call some other stores, who were MORE than willing to help me out. I get a call back from the Taylor store who tells me they just checked the system and the Canton store has it in stock. Coincidentally the Canton store was who I called in the first place. He tells me I can have the rug for "50 bucks". The rug that I already paid for, and have been waiting on for 3 weeks, I can pay 50 more dollars to finally own. It's now been 4 months since I purchased my furniture set, I still don't have the stupid rug even after I talked to the manager who was incredibly understanding, credited my account and "special ordered" the rug. I just got a call that the rug was finally here and to call my location to arrange for it to be picked up/delivered. I call the Taylor store, and all they can tell me is it is still on back order. Worst store around, they do not honor their return or exchange policy . i called two hours after delivery and told them i needed to exchange the rocker recliner because i coudnt get out of it without help i am handicap, and i even pay the restocking for it which was 279.99 to have to it done. i even went up to the store everyday for them to give me the run around for 6 days the store manager will lie straight to your face, he kept making excuses. So i know stuck with a chair that i pay almost 1200 that i cant use. read more

We purchased a bed frame from them two days ago. After assembling it, the wood cracked the second time I sat on it. After multiple phone calls/being on call they agreed to have a service man come out later in the week. The manager was rude/condescending from the beginning. When complaining about the quality of the bed they sent us he said 'well, wood breaks'. We have decided to just return the bed, even with the 25% restock fee, it beats having to deal with this horrible company. read more
