Felt unsafe. I have not been in a laundromat in five years. My dryer broke so I need to get my laundry done. His clientele and staff where the rudest people ever and the owner was not supportive of his new clients. I felt very unsafe. It's called ladybug laundry now - the machines are all front loaders - 2 loads 6 loads or 8 loads. Around $3.75 I think for the 2 loads. $8 for the 6 loads and idk about the bigger one. It's open 24 hours. They have a machine you can buy a card from or you can download an app and control from ur phone. Fairly easy. A lady who was there helped me. Very friendly. Pretty new looking facility. My 3 loads dryed in 20 mins. Def will be back when needed. read more

This is my second time here. A few years ago when my dryer went down I came in to do laundry with quarters not knowing that these machines take a prepaid card. The woman that helped me was rude and impatient. I ended up leaving. Today when coming In I was apprehensive and even had my husband accompany me. This experience has been the polar opposite. The woman at the counter helped me through each and every step (I know it shouldn't be that hard but I've always used my home machines!) She was super patient and the experience was great! I will say that a laundromat has never benefited from a lack of competition as much as this place. Simply put, if there was another option within 10 miles of this place they would be out of business. I will list my problems first and then expand after. -Use cards that you have to buy in order to use machines, and require a $4 deposit. Then depending on their mood will refuse to refund the remaining money on the card plus deposit, telling you that you have to use the money first. -Only take cash in order to purchase a card, so you need to go to an ATM and possible pay a service fee at the ATM. -Half the machines are labeled "Do Not Use" (Broken) -They will close up early without notice because they feel like it. -VERY RUDE. I had read they were rude on here, and heard from my friend they were rude, but as I said earlier they are the closest laundromat to me. When I had an issue, the daughter just kept repeating, "How is that our problem." -Finally, their dryers do not dry well at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I will not be coming to this place again. The straw that broke the camels back (After already dealing with such things as the annoying card system, having the drive to a bank to get cash, arriving at the laundromat to find it closed hours early, and the terrible dryers) was today I brought my card (that they would not refund last time) that had $3 remaining on it. Once there I realized I needed to put more cash on it, so I had to drive to a bank to get cash since they do not accept debit cards. The bank I used had a $3 service charge to use their ATM. Once I return, I realized I had misplaced the original card, so now I need to get a new card and pay the $4 deposit. That is $10 lost before I even started a machine. So I stated that I was probably going to start going to another laundromat because the extra gas will be less expensive. The daughter just replied very snidely, "That is not our problem." I told her I was not trying to say that it was, or was wanting to argue the fact, just my opinion that I would be better served elsewhere. She just again replied, "That is not our problem." While I did lose the card, their business choices compounded the problem. If one or more of these simple changes to their practices was made, my problem would not have been a big deal. -Charge a reasonable deposit. You can buy those cards for less than a dollar a piece. $4 is taking advantage of people who lose the cards. -Accept debit cards. It is 2020. Even the vending machine at the place takes debit cards. At least get a card reader that works with your cell phone. -Always refund the card on the same trip. I am guessing they do this one to increase the chance you lose the card, so they can make a profit off the lost cards. Finally, unrelated to my issue today: Fix your machines, I can see 10 broken machines from where I am standing. Clean out your lint traps. The daughter did absolutely nothing but play with the kid the entire time I was there. She never once clean anything (Even though the was trash on the floor) or cleaned out a lint trap. However when I was folding my cloths, an employee that was not related to the owners came in, and she was working hard to pick up the slack. I watched as she took about 3 or 4 inches of lint out of several traps. That might explain why after running the dryer on high for three straight cycles, my clothing was still damp to the touch. Be professional, that means stay open for the entire time your sign says, it is very frustrating to drive up here to find the place closed early. Also, be polite to your customers. If they stop coming in, like I have chosen to, you will find yourself making no money. read more

I do not frequent the laundromat so my review is based strictly on my opinion of Gards no comparisons can be made. 1st impression not very clean, machines are gross looking so be careful on the ones you pick. The lady is rude as almost all of the reviews state. The machines worked ok, but the dryers weren't all that great. The pricing seems expensive. She made comments about me bringing my 2yo with me. When he started to fuss she suggested going outside to walk in the grass... uh ya no thanks then when he was pushing the laundry cart she said he couldn't. I ignored her and let him do it anyway. The woman behind the counter with curly hair and the pudgy has unacceptable customer service and talked out to a person like as though they just graduated from kindergarten. If I could give zero stars, I would. Today's experience was a far cry from the excellence of the past legacy that the Gard family had been so outstanding in presenting to the public in the past. The current generation managing the laundromat should be utterly ashamed of how things have been let go. About 60% of the washers were nonfunctional and about 75% of the dryers were nonfunctional. Those machines which were functional were not functional at full capacity. Washers were decently priced but the dryers were extremely overpriced at $0.50 for 6-10 minutes. I don't normally need laundromat services but I deserve so much better than this and so does the rest of Crown Point. read more

After reading several reviews that are quite simply, erroneous, I wanted to provide a factual review 1 - Customers use a plastic card to use the machines. One pays a 4.00 deposit (key word - deposit). This is simply so the business gets the card back when one is done. The card is re-loadable. It also is easier for the customer - you add a set dollar amount and carry on and do your laundry. When done, simply turn the card in and your $4.00 deposit is refunded. They do not accept credit cards or debit cards so ensure you have cash. For the record, credit cards charge businesses a fee to use them. Some businesses choose not to have to deal with accepting debit or credit cards - that's life. 2 - Children do need to behave when in the business. As is typical in all businesses, one watches their child/children if they choose to bring them to a business with them. This is not a jungle gym, it is a laundry mat. Gard's employees are not babysitters. The laundry carts are not there for your child to use as amusement. 3 - Gard's has been a valued and well respected business in Crown Point for many years (well over 30). They are not a library (in regard to someone commenting the magazines were a couple years old), not a babysitting service, and not your servant. You are coming to a business to do laundry or to drop off/pick up laundry. 4 - As with all businesses, they have open and close times. They also have a cut off time - the time the last load of the day needs to be in to ensure that they are able to close on time. If you work, I will assume, your place of employment also has an open and close time and rules about those times. Therefor, it should make sense to one that Gard's has set times also. 5 - The parking lot is shared. There are painted numbers on the pavement as let's face it, a laundry may have more customers than a mortgage place (next door) and the building owner has numbered the parking slots. So yes, if one parks where they should not, an employee may say something to you. 6 - I've used Gard's laundry and dry cleaning services for many years. While the laundromat was clean, their washers were NOT. All washers had a gross green slime around the seal of the door. The washer never added my fabric softner that I put in at the beginning of the wash. Also the woman running the counter, Coleen or Charlene or some name similar, was rude. She seemed so bothered and inconvenienced to help me. She was extremely unpleasant. If I could give negative stars I would. All the pictures already posted from years ago are still relevant today. The green mold looking stuff around the doors is on every washer and the detergent holders are disgusting. Many machines are out of order, one machine has a sign that says "if you keep on warm, it will work". I tried this as a option today since it is closer to my home, but I'll continue to go into St. John's to clean my items at another laundromat. I'm actually thinking about taking my items and rewashing them elsewhere. Unsure on how this place hasn't been shutdown. It's definitely not Crown Point material and is more expensive than other options in surrounding area. read more

I said 1.50 she stayed no has to be 2. Then it's .50 for 10 mins. Very expensive compared to others. Then there is an older kid sitting behind counter watching a big television. Yes the attendant is rude even when you are going there to do clothes. It's also more expensive than other laundromats, but its the only one in Crown Point so what can you do? Also the posted hours are when they CLOSE not when they take last load so you must be there an hour and a half before the posted closing time. Don't wait til Sunday to do your clothes closing tint is 5 pm so you have to be there by 3:30 pm. read more

I checked on the internet and it states that the laundrymat closes at 8 pm. I walk in the door at 5:00 and the very rude attendant curtly states " we close at 6pm. I would never come this close to closing IF their listing was updated to show 6 pm as the changed closing time. Secondly, I gave the attendant $10 to put on the card. Without asking, she loads it for one washer ( by the way, I was only using one washer). I told her "no, I need money on for the dryer". Load takes 25 minutes according to rude attendant. I will dry load for 20 minutes- then, out. Not sure who owns this place, but your attendant today (Saturday, October 24, 2021), could benefit from a course in good customer service. The biggest problem I have is that Gards never opens on time. You usually have to wait 15 to 20 minutes after the posted opening time before the attendant arrives (Saturdays & Sundays). I have never seen her come on time in the two years I have be using this laundromat. In any job I have had were I was responsible for opening the business, I was usually there at least 5 minutes before the business was to open. I wish I could give this place less than one star. When I first went in they told me it would take two weeks and it would only cost $75 to get a wedding dress cleaned. Four weeks later they called and changed the price to $100. Also when I went in to pick up my dress it was in two pieces. Very Rude Horrible Service. Paid 1.50a pound 32.00 total to Wash Fold HANG. We recieved our clothes...(3 days later) shoved in a bag and unwearable wrinkled and damp. When I approached the Horribly rude woman Colleen, She said she didn't have time to hang the shirts? like I paid for!? I still don't under stand. She is opens a half hour late almost everyday. None of the machines work and if they stop with your load in there YOU have to pay to rewash them!? Seriously do not go there. I was ready to use quarters but then was inconvenienced to pay $4 to get a card to put money on. The lady at the register gives no help on how to use the card. So our first few swipes apparently charged us each time even though it read error. After waiting for our clothes, the service lady's demeanor improved. This place boarders on RACISM. Every white person who entered was greeted and offered help if needed. I an a non-white and was treated with an attitude when i requested help. I have several physical limitations and can not stand long. I was told i could not pull chairs over to the folding table. There are not any paper towels in the bath room but rather a towel hanging like a community towel .how sanitary is that. I had problems with the card and starting the dryer, the heavy set woman took my card and put a lot of money on the dryer trying to get it started and when i brought it to her attention, she said oh well.
