Early lunch at Garibaldi's in Elko NV. Large restaurant, staff greeted us right away. Large menu with great variety of combos, lunch specials, beverages and cocktails. Our server was professional and attentive. She stated she was new and showed great attention to getting information to our many questions. Like, what was picadillo? Turns out it's shredded beef (not ground beef as I assumed.) Of the four dishes we ordered, the best were nachos and enchilada suiza with picadillo. The taco Salad and chicken tacos didn't quite hit the mark. Now we know what to order. We'll keep coming since it's a pleasant place with good folks. read more

While traveling through Elko, I decided to stop by Garibaldis because I had a taste for nachos and a margarita. They didn't disappoint. I ordered the large Garaibaldi's nachos with Picadillo and it was delicious. Way more food than I could manage but I'm certain the leftovers will be delicious as well. The strawberry margarita hit the spot too. 10/10. If I'm ever passing through back home to Vegas again, I'll definitely stop here. Also, my server Alejandra was a doll. Our server, Angel, was great. Yes, the salsa and beans may differ from other restaurants, but still good, nonetheless. We had the Pollo Asado. It was really good, although the menu photo is somewhat misrepresentative as far as the portion size we received. Margaritas were great. Also had the churros, which were also very good. Some ppl commented about the water and blandness about the food, which we did not experience. All in all we would recommend this place. read more

Been coming here for about a year. Always good food and always good service. Until 8-18-23. The restaurant was full but we were seated promptly. Our server, Kelsey took our drink order, chips were served, and then she took our meal order. My wife had chicken taco salad and I get what I always get, carne asada. I asked her if I could get a cooked onion which I've had on my plate in the past a few times but not all the time. She said, "The long onion?" I said, "Yes". Kelsey served our meal, we asked for another basket of chips and then proceeded to eat. I did not get a cooked onion but instead had sliced cooked onions on top of the carne asada. My carne asada was well done and tasted like shoe leather. Which made me realize that Kelsey never asked how I wanted it cooked. I always get it rare and it has great flavor that way. All of the servers I've had ask how I want it cooked. Also, my wife's iced tea tasted like water and her chicken was extremely dry. Mid way through our meal, the restaurant cleared out to about 1/3 capacity. We continued with our meal, waiting for Kelsey to bring us more chips but she never came to our table. She had no problem chit chatting in Spanish with the tables around us that had Mexican families. Not once did she ever come over to refill our empty drinks or ask about our meal. We eventually finished and were waiting patiently when Gisselle hurriedly came over and dropped a ticket on our table, without saying a word. Nobody asked if we wanted dessert, offered to refill our drinks, or ask how our meal was. When we went up to pay, Gisselle asked, "How was everything?" I said, "Not good. We had horrible service." She then laughed at us. I said, "I'm not kidding. This isn't a joke. We come here often and had terrible service." She then abruptly left to go get a pen so we could sign our receipt. I left a zero tip for Kelsey since she didn't do anything to deserve a tip. This kind of behavior from the staff is appalling. Instead of laughing at us, Gisselle could have offered to get a manager. If she is the manager, shame on her. As for Kelsey, we have no idea why she ignored us after she brought our meals but was friendly with Mexicans. Is it racism? Additionally, the bus boy, (young man with high pitched voice) was doing an excellent job. He was very watchful over his area and quick to clear tables. I've always given five star reviews for Garibaldis on Yelp and this will be my first one star review. I don't see any reason to return to this restaurant if we are going to be treated this way. read more

We used to visit Garibaldi's frequently, but our visit on 10-6-22 reminded me of why we choose other options more frequently. It was the hubs and I on our dinner date for the week. The two of us were seated at a 6-top table, which felt awkward. There were smaller tables that were visibly available, so I'm not sure why weren't put there. And while I understand that it's horrible to be super hot, we were place by two air vents which made us feel like we were dining in a subarctic establishment. Now why we are here ... to talk about the food. Hub's beef fajitas came out sizzling like fajitas are supposed to. He did let me sample a bite, and they were tasty. I ordered the camarones filete costeño, which used to be my favorite dish. The bacon wrapped shrimp itself was alright, however the sauce was different and quite lacking to be perfectly honest. Their "tasty red sauce" tasted like a thick cream of tomato soup. I feel like for an $18 plate at a casual sit down place, your food should have some pizzazz. The sides with both dishes were the traditional rice and beans. They were decent. The service was ok. The only time our waitress checked on us was when she brought the check. What used to be a favorite 5-star has dropped a lot. I'll give them another shot at some point, but it'll probably be a good while. read more

Place was busy and we thought it must be good. I really hate to post bad reviews but maybe they were just having an off night. The beer I must say was ice cold but I didn't come to dine here for the beer. Chips were stale and salsa was very watery. My wife had a Al la cart chicken enchilada which was just so so. I ordered the chili relleno what a joke ! I couldn't even fine the chili and the so called cheese filling was hard and not even melted. Ate here passing through on a road trip. Nice size restaurant with very friendly staff. They serve chips salsa and hot beans that were very good. We were seated and served chips/salsa promptly. Our drink order was taken promptly and we asked for top shelf Margaritas which were decent. I also ordered a shot of the same tequila (Herraduro Anejo) "neat" (just to taste it pure) but it was brought "over". Rather than take it back, our kind server, Maria, just left it (we spiked our drinks) and she brought the correct order "neat". If a restaurant makes an honest mistake and handles it that way, it's better than if it didn't happen. My chicken enchilada mole was muy sobroso and they provided whole beans per my request, so we were happy and of course we left a decent tip. This place is unpretentious and authentic--I would go back to this place and likely will do so. read more

It might have been what I ordered, it might have been that I ordered takeout, or it might have been my preferences are different. The food was not bad, I'm just used to salsa being included in my orders or taco sauce (there wasn't any), when I placed my order I was asked if I wanted corn or flour tortillas (there was neither of either), and it looked like the container had been turned over, because it was kind of a mess inside. We were traveling through and after a very long day, we had chosen another place but it was having a private event. I'm glad they were because we found Garibaldis. This place was what I expected, good food, good drinks, good location, and decor was good. I wouldn't say it was exceptional BUT what was exceptional was the SERVICE. Norma made us feel at home like we had been there every Saturday night. If I didn't live 8 hours away I would go every Saturday night. They were busy but we were very happy when we left. Not great. My beans were obviously microwaved and dry. The chicken was also very, very dry. The chips were not even good. However, the coleslaw is probably the best coleslaw I have had. Worse than a gas station Taco Time. Just an awful Mexican place, especially when you consider it was 43 dollars. Let's start with the tacos if I can even call them that. Two of us got two crunchy chicken tacos and the shells were soggy. The chicken was dry and had no flavor. It was supposed to be shredded but it wasn't . Cheese, lettuce and tomato were the toppings and they were trash American style. The only melted cheese was stuck to the hot plate. They have the atmosphere but not the food. Still hungry. We have been here twice. Once in 2018 and again tonight. We came in 2018 during a road trip and it was absolutely delicious that we wanted to come back again! And it didn't disappoint! Quick service, the Cadillac margarita was HUGE and delicious! The food came right away and it was so yummy! We ordered steak and chicken fajitas and the dish that had the nopales, flank steak, chicken, bacon wrapped shrimp and green onion with a roasted jalapeño in a creamy cheese sauce....YES, YES, YES! Followed a previous Yelper's recommendation, and ordered cocktails and the Molcajete Loco. My husband got a Cadillac margarita - it was well made and plenty strong. I got the Mangonada margarita - super tasty, really liked the Tajin rim. We'd never had molcajete before and it was a revelation. Fabulous flavor, and plenty for us to share. We probably should have ordered extra tortillas, or saved some of our chips to dip up the last of it, but we ate every drop anyway. read more

Absolutely excellent dining experience- highly recommended! Our server was warm, efficient and personable- we left a 25% tip- she deserved every penny! The guidance on the menu was top-notch and the chef is a wonder with Mexican food. Highly recommend the Enchiladas Suiza ( best tomatillo sauce, better than my own) and the Bacon-wrapped shrimp were excellent. And do not miss their over-the-top Cadillac Margarita. Passing through and stopped for something other than fast food. First batch of chips were nice and fresh and the red salsa was yum. The green stuff however was not. And the second basket of chips was quite stale. We are frequent Mexican restaurant go-ers and while this place didn't WOW us, we would come back given the chance. We ordered chicken fajitas and chicken flautas. Both were prepared nicely. Not a big fan off the rice, or the coleslaw type stuff on the fajita dressing plate. I was directed to go to La Fiesta down the street but they were closed on Monday's. So I visited Garibaldis. Wow. I ordered a regular margarita and it was great. The chips and salsa come with 2 salsas and a bean dip. I ordered the gueso and it was served on a cast iron skillet.. it was sizzling with Mexican chorizo and onion.. it was great.. I kind of picked off the onion wanting to enjoy the cheese and salchicha . I then ordered a side of carne asada..
