'm writing this because I really expected better based on Garnett's past reputation. About three years ago, they sold us two units. Our family and friends have also purchased many units from Garnett over the years. We've already had several issues with ours, though to be fair, some were related to the unit itself and not the company. Recently, a solder/braze joint completely failed on one unit, causing all the refrigerant to leak out. A copper joint shouldn't fail after just three years. If properly done, a brazed joint should actually be stronger than the copper itself and outlast the unit. When the technician first looked at it, he clearly didn't realize Garnett had installed the units. He asked who did the installation, basically implying it was a bad job. As soon as I told him it was his company, he got very quiet. He made a call, came back, and tried to defend it by pointing out that the system was tested when it was first installed. I told him, "No shit, I'm sure it was, but a bad brazed joint doesn't always fail immediately, and if done correctly, it should outlast the unit." Then, after speaking to someone on the phone, he tried to claim someone must have "knocked into it." The unit is in an enclosed area, so that's practically impossible. Honestly, it was just a bad brazed joint, and the company refused to take ownership of their workmanship. To top it off, instead of making things right, he told me someone else would have to come out next week just to give me an estimate for the repair. I asked if I'd have to pay another service fee. A repair we had earlier this year cost $387 for under an hour of work, so I expect this one would be even more. What really put me over the edge was the complete lack of accountability and urgency. The technician had no idea when the repair could actually be done, telling me they'd contact me whenever they had an opening. I understand companies get busy, but leaving a customer hanging with a "don't call us, we'll call you" attitude after your own poor workmanship caused the issue is unacceptable. I get that people make mistakes and technicians need to be paid, but when installation quality is the problem, a reputable company needs to take ownership and prioritize fixing it. Despite this being a workmanship issue, I wasn't even asking for a handout. I just wanted a very reasonable rate, not a "we'll do it when we can and screw you" rate. I am now in the process of hiring another local technician. I sent them photos of the issue, and they are already prepared to come out and fix it. Although money matters, this was less about the money and entirely about accountability for workmanship and basic respect. Maybe Garnett has gotten a little too comfortable relying on past good reviews. read more

On the 21st my condensate line froze. The house temp went down to 50°. I called and requested service and was told they would be back in touch after they opened at 7:30. My plumber came meanwhile and got it fixed( at Garnett's request) He was upset to find the line was burned and posted a review on Google. In 2016 I paid $14,000.00 for 2 separate Trane units, which I was told were the best on the market. The sale and installation were good, except that only 4 years later in 2020, I was told that I needed to invest $1,500.00 in replacing a coil on one of my units, and was told that Trane products were terrible and they no longer install them. In addition to that, ever since these new units were installed, my humidity has been a constant problem . I'm not sure what the best on the market is now, but use caution, as 4 years from now it could be the worst. read more

I had an awesome experience with Garnett Heating and Air, Spotsylvania. I called them early yesterday, September 1st, on a weather alert day due to expected heavy rain from Hurricane Ida. The technician (Todd) came right on time, identified the problem, and replaced parts to my unit and got the job done before the rain. The price was reasonable. Garnett will be my go to for any HVAC problems . I highly recommend them. On a side note - the office personnel couldn't have been more professional - even called to let the know the technician was on his way even though it was well within the time of arrival. read more

Awful company. There was a total lack of communication. I left a message for the estimator who did not respond until I called the company directly 2 hours and 45 min later. He was willing to respond to them and acknowledged I had called. I had no idea if he was coming to provide a quote or not. He had given the spot for today away we had spoken about Friday & he should have let me know instead me being frustrated not knowing. I have now been declined service from this business for being upset. They are very disrespectful to potential clients. read more

I contacted Garnet heating for my winter maintenance and to look at my thermostat that was not working properly. I'm pleased to say the receptionist sent someone out the very next day. Eric showed up to my house with a mask on and with a professional attitude. Eric answered all my questions and asked more than once if I had any additional questions to ask before his departure. As far as thermostat, the problem was taking out two batteries that were enclosed. After Eric took out the batteries my thermostat started to work properly. He proceeded to check on my furnace which includes the maintenance agreement with the company and everything was up to standard. I highly recommend service with Garnett heating. Run... far far away. These folks are scammers and are way over priced. We called them to diagnose a commercial A/C that had suddenly stopped working. On their first time out, they filled the system with 6 lbs of R22, which they charge $100/lb. They then proceeded to leave without checking for leaks. 2 days later the system stopped cooling again and had lost all the R22 they had just added. Red Flag. 2nd time out, they add pressure to the system again and find a leak on the indoor air handler. They gave us a price of $4000 to replace the coil. At this point we've already been charged $1300 for labor and R-22 fills, just to find the leak. Being so expensive, we got a second opinion from another local reputable company. They were able to find the leak immediately, because the leak was so bad that you could hear it while standing next to the air handler. Their quote was $2500 to replace the coil, or $3500 to replace the entire air handler. Right after the 2nd company left, a Garnett technician shows up and starts replacing the coil WITHOUT our approval! We had specifically called the week before to stop any further work. Fortunately we had someone there to catch them, and told them they were not authorized to perform the repair. Needless to say, we will never use Garnett again, and will warn everyone we know of their tactics. read more

They showed up 3 hours late to perform a dye leak test on the attic evaporator coil. Performed the test and left the cover off the attic unit. Then never called me to either tell me the results of the test or recommended resolution to the problem and then sent me a bill for $99. I had Garnett out to a rental property to service a furnace that wasn't working. Upon receiving the bill several days later, they charged me $99 for the service call (which is fine), and $222 for a part that retails for less than $20 and installs with one screw and one plug. I called them on the over 10x markup for a part, and they said they thought that was a fair charge. Subsequent requests for invoices for their purchase of the part have been met with silence. I have used Garnett before and was fairly pleased, but not after you rip me off for a $20 part and then act like it's fair. Do yourself a favor and use somebody reputable instead of this company. read more

refer to tech Bobby, he came and found out circuit 1 was low. there should be leak somewhere. he did not try to find the leak. instead he just put 3 lb r22 to even out the pressure. the very second day , the AC unit did not work again. Don't waste your money. bill 381.50 for AV ONLY WORKING ONE DAY. Call anyone else except this one . read more
