We paid 1/2 the cost of the job 6/23/25 (original bid $2725), and date completed was 7/18/25....and this was not a big job. We have a small strip of backyard, maybe 15'x80' to be leveled with dirt and new sod placed. The workers were unreliable, they did not show up when scheduled and did not communicate until we reached out to them. They were not prepared, they dumped dirt in our backyard in the pouring down rain without tarps to protect from run off. My husband had to work the whole time they were here (and after they left) to cover the dirt with tarps and level off the ground for sod prep. One of the workers ran over our mailbox and didn't even tell my husband. I discovered it when I got home from work, he asked the workers about the mailbox, and the worker stated that he may have backed into it....too much! The extra charge of $1200 evidently was for the "miscalculation" of needed fill dirt. The dirt load they originally brought covered maybe 30% of the yard....I have pictures, that load did not cover much. Total job cost $3925.00.

They started on time and finished ahead of schedule, even with all the rain and storms we've been having lately, In addition, they do our monthly service and always make sure we are happy and if there is anything else we need for them to do. I just want to give the praise to this company that it deserves. Mostly I want to give praise to Alex and his crew. Never once had I worked with a contractor where I didn't have to worry about anything. I actually closed my blinds, so I couldn't see what was going on, so that I didn't get too involved. I was a kept up to date on what was ever going on for that day. The communication lines from this company are very clear. They even called me a few weeks prior to my job starting, and the day before. It's very hard to find clear effective communication in a company as well. I DO NOT HAVE ONE COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND THE CREW I HAD. I've worked with some shady contractors. What a concept that the crew comes together in one vehicle? At 8 o'clock in the morning, after they all leave a company meeting.....and then they leave in the same vehicle at 5pm when it's quitting time. They started on Monday, and they were done by Friday. Let me tell you, when it comes to organization and getting the job done, they're a million times on it. We had Alex and his crew.. Another guy named Alex and a Joe! They were the most respectful crew I had ever met. Not to mention just down right good people.. You don't find much of that anymore, either. After a few years, we connected again, after I also obtained several other quotes. Dillon by far, was the most visionary and patient person to work with. This project took several weeks to complete, which was expected. Basically, it was a complete tear out and rebuild of my yard, patio, decking, front porch and walk, with plenty of pavers, plants and sod. Dillon and his team were outstanding in every way. In all of my years, and houses, I have never worked with a contractor that was as easy as Dillon and his team. I actually consider them my project team. I hired James with A Cut Above Landscaping to address a serious water intrusion issue at one of my…read morerental properties. He recommended installing a basin drain system as the solution, but unfortunately the work was completely ineffective. The crew dug up the parking lot and front of the house to install the drainage system, but left a huge mess behind. There were trenches and uneven areas throughout my parking lot and even extending onto my neighbor's property. The entire job felt rushed, like the priority was finishing as quickly as possible rather than making sure it was done correctly. The drainage system itself was poorly designed. The drains were not installed up against the house where the flooding and water intrusion was actually occurring, and the front of the property was not properly graded to direct water toward the drain. As a result, the system did little to solve the original issue. When I reached back out and asked James to come back and help correct the problems, his response was that they were "already barely making any money on the job." That response made it seem like the focus was more on profit than standing behind the work or making things right for the customer. Overall, I was very disappointed with both the workmanship and the customer service, and I would not recommend using this company for drainage or water intrusion issues.

So I contacted the guys at Emerald Coast Decks to install a new deck and to re-design my landscape. I didn't really know what I wanted my yard too look like but they were very helpful in planning the design. The work went by so quickly I was impressed and they stuck to the estimate so I didn't have to pay any more than what they originally stated. My deck looks great and so does my new yard. They installed a new sprinkler system and lush green sod, and beautiful flowers that my wife loves. I won't hesitate to recommend Emerald Coast Decks to anyone looking to transform their backyard. When the guys were working on my yard we were talking and they told me that they also do pavers and custom garages. My home is pretty old and does not have a garage so I am debating on having them build a new garage for me as well.
