We booked the Bermuda Blue for a week vacation with our three young kids. We were horrified to discover roaches running over the plates in the kitchen cabinets. I'm addition to that, plumbing did not work in the master bedroom and paint was peeling off the walls. We felt "icky" the entire time we were there. Gary Greene customer service is HORRIBLE!!!!! They argued with me when I was disgusted by the fact that I was trying to feed my kids in a roach infested place. The customer service lady did NOT seemed surprised when I reported the unsanitary conditions! In fact, they then tried to send an exterminator and plumbing during our vacation instead of doing the right thing and refunding us. We lost a whole vacation day moving into a lower quality unit. They were horribly rude, and lied about the quality of the place in order to secure our booking. They totally ruined our vacation. $1,500 down the drain. Then they had the nerve to leave me a bad rating on VRBO. Me!!! The customer that had to stay in a ROACH INFESTED UNIT. DO NOT USE GARY GREENE RENTALS!!!!! Stay away!!! read more

This company would not give our money back !! We had to evacuate one of their rental properties "Bermuda Blue" during our vacation because of Hurricane Laura and we didn't get to spend the full 7 days there, only 2 of the days were spent there until we were told we had to leave . They didn't NOT refund our other 4 days !! How horrible can you be?! Now we have to put in a claim. Thank God for insurance !! I would NOT stop here to get help for anything real estate related. We stopped in the office to pick up keys for our rental at approx 2:15p. Our rental was to be available by 3p. The woman in the office refused to give us our rental keys early. Okay, not a problem! I understand rental agreements, so we agreed to wait. However, while waiting, our party had 2 small children who needed to use the restroom after the drive. Since our rental wasn't available, we asked if they could use the restroom in the leasing office. The agent refused. She refused to let a 3 and 4 yr old use the restroom, and the next closest public restroom was almost 10 minutes away. It seems to me any person that responds to children this way, likely won't treat you with much respect. I'd get a referral for an agent elsewhere, if you're in the market for real estate, and if your looking for vacation leases, I'd go AIRBNB. read more

Rented during coronavirus threat in June, 2020. We arrived at 2:45 wearing masks, but none of their staff wore them. Because there was a plumber at our rental house, they refused to give us the keys until 3:00. We asked nicely if we could have them because of disabled dog and young grandchildren in cars, and we just wanted to unpack, but they didn't care. Finally, we arrived at the house at 3:15, the plumber was still there. He left after repairing one of two leaks. Because they weren't able to email to my comcast account, I completed the lengthy mailed contract, but never received confirmation that it had been received. After two weeks, I called and was told it had never arrived. I filled out the next mailed one and took it to check in, only to be told they had the first one! I recently rented the Soul Mates house in Pirate's Beach. Overall, the house was in excellent shape. Some of the pans that were tucked away being filthy and not washed from previous guests, the downstairs bedroom relies upon a box-unit AC that stayed pretty humid and dripped a giant puddle outside on the lower patio as it ran... Despite those issues the house was enjoyable. My complaint regards their check-in policy. To start, having people check in from 4-6pm is not even worth renting the house for that day or having to pay for that night. It is absurd. There is nothing a family can do to enjoy the island when they cannot check in until the evening. Imagining babies, or pets, or food you have for the beach house stay - it is completely inconvenient and will prevent me from renting from them again. We also got an email the day before that said 3pm, so when we arrived there at the office at 3pm, we were met with attitude as if we were silly to have relied on what the girl called "an advertisement" when it was a DIRECT EMAIL from Gary Greene. They told us we would have to wait for the cleaning. So we drove over to the house with a car full of groceries and things that needed to be kept cold, only to find there was not a single car at the house and no one there cleaning or prepping it. Please stay AWAY! I promise you can fine a better place to stay with better customer service. This water at this location was full of snakes, jelly fish, crabs and seaweed. The grass was so high at their beaches that we saw several snakes. They also charge outrageous damage fees for things that can easily be washed out in a machine like chocolate on a sheet. SCAM!!!!! Do not book with them. They will rip you off. Only chance you have is to purchase the insurance and even then you will get screwed. We rented 'Bermuda Blue' in August and it definitely needs some work. The undermount sink was propped in place with a stick. The entrance and second bath had such a foul smell that we avoided the main entrance and did not use the second bath. The ceilings and walls were peeling. The white slipcover on the couch looked dirty. It should just be replaced. And the AC could not keep the house cool even at night. The office did send a very nice man to look at the AC but there was nothing he could do. Could be a very nice place with some TLC. read more

We rented Margaritaville on the Bay. First the good. The house was clean and tidy and AC worked great. Refridgerators were clean and nice to have one downstairs. Beds were comfortable. Now the bad... the information and pictures on the website are very misleading. The pictures of the grill and bar area must of been from some time ago. The gas grill is rusty and starter does not work, but you can smell propane so it could of been a fire hazard if we didn't know how gas grills worked. The pool was dirty with grass and bugs and not circulating. The jacuzzi is just a small pool as jets do not work. The main reason we rented this was because it had a pool. The pool pump was on but not circulating water. We called the moment we realized this and by noon the next day no return call and nothing had been done. We have a pool and know that pump should not be doing this, my husband turned off pump because temp showed it was at 115 degrees and that meant that the pump could of blown. We went to rental office and finally got someone to come out and fix pool and light on stairs that was not working when my husband informed them that the light was a "life safety issue" and our guest all 60 yr old plus could fall going up those stairs in the dark. The pool guy told my husband that he was glad it was turned off or it would of burned up pump. So for a day and half of our 3 day stay we could not use the pool. They also show TV's in all rooms and downstairs. There is no instructions on how to work these and the only one that is workable if you don't have a ROKU account is the one in living room. The one at the bar didn't even turn on. Master TV only has ROKU, and has NO CLOSET! The closet that is there is locked for owner, so you have nowhere to hang any clothes. The picture on website of master bathroom is misleading. It shows the bathtub/shower, but in reality there is only one glass door and a cheap shower curtain over it. Someone must of broken the other sliding door. Also the pictures showing the bunk beds makes it look like there are are 2 sets of bunks ..there is only one. Kitchen pots and pans need to be replaced. Boat lift does not work and too much boat traffic in and out of area to be able to fish. The Sundeck over the boat dock moves when boats go by, this to me is very UNSTABLE! Many boards need to be replaced. This is also a safety issue. We have rented many houses in this area of Galveston, but this is the first one we have rented from Gary Greene and it will be the last. The lack of communication and willingness to resolve issues until we had to drive to office threaten potential law suit was terrible. I would NEVER rent this house again and it is very sad to have to say that because this house could be epic with just a little TLC and extra touches. read more

We rented a property at Indian beach for 5 days and had a fabulous time. We booked online and were called by a nice lady (don't remember her name) the next day who confirmed everything and was super friendly and helpful with my questions. While driving down we were called again to confirm our arrival time to ensure we would get there on time. Upon arrival at the Gary Greene office everyone was friendly and super helpful. She gave us suggestions and pointed everything out in the area (it was our first time in Galveston). When we arrived at the rental everything was immaculate, the cleaning crew does a fabulous job. everything worked, outside of a slightly leaking a/c unit, but after a few hours it stopped leaking. I'm assuming that's due to it being pretty much off while guests aren't staying. I would use this company again, they were very welcoming, the house was beautifully maintained and managed, and the price is comparable if not better than most we saw. We will be using them again to book our family vacation for this summer! read more

After booking and paying for our vacation rental, Gary Greene Vacation Rentals canceled my booking. Their rental contract states: "Rates, descriptions, amenities and availability are subject to change without notice or liability." This means that they can (and do) cancel your vacation and only allow you to stay if you agree to pay an increased rate/cost! Do yourself a favor -- BOOK YOUR VACATION WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!! read more

We chose to rent a house based on the picture and description on the website, Star Scape. When we arrived the house was in disrepair including black mold. It took me blocking the entrance of the building for someone to help me. Once we were helped they provided my family with a very nice house that had a cockroach problem. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I hope I would have taken the time to review this company before booking the property. Everything was done through the website so I had no idea what the customer service was like. I wanted to rent a house on VRBO that was $165 + taxes and fees. Gary Green Vacation Rentals is the manager of the house and they wanted to charge $137 PER NIGHT EXTRA for fees, which included cleaning, towels, and possible damage. Honestly, were they going to deliver fresh towels and maid service everyday!! What a rip. Should just post the actual per day cost of the house. I found another house to rent. read more

We contacted the Gary Greene office about a problem with the rental property at 18211 East Da Vaca Lane in Indian Beach. I was told the problem would be addressed immediately. This did not happen. No one from Gary Greene ever came to the property, as they said they would, and we never even received a phone call. This is definitely not someone you want to rent from. They will not take care of problems and have deplorable customer service. read more
