Well at age 47, after years of wearing contacts and glasses, I finally made the decision to get custom wave form lasik with monovision. The procedure performed by Dr. Hines could not have gone better. After giving me my "courage cocktail", the procedure took maybe 45 minutes in total. it was pretty freaky, but not scary. I asked Dr Hines how many surgeries like this he had done and he said "40,000". Ok, not his first rodeo. When I left the chair to go meet my friend, with my fancy steampunk goggles and all, I could already tell I could see better! I watched TV that night (in my goggles) and woke up the next day seeing perfectly- I don't need ANY correction for near or farsightedness- NO reading glasses necessary! I don't usually write reviews, but today decided that Dr. Levinson deserved a shoutout for how happy I STILL am with the results. Just had my eyes checked for the first time in a few years (moved out of state so can't follow with him anymore) and my astigmatism is returning a bit which I was told would happen but overall vision is still 20/20. At the young age of 47, just need to start using readers! So very happy that I spent the money 18 years ago and invested in LASIK surgery and trusted Dr. Levinson. I received excellent care for many years, including very successful laser treatment, and this office was widely trusted by professional athletes and long-term Denver patients alike. After both doctors retired and the practice was sold, I returned in July after moving back to Denver for an annual exam with a new doctor. While the clinical exam itself was fine, the administrative experience was not. After paying in full for my exam, I requested my eyeglass prescription so I could obtain reading glasses and was refused due to unexplained billing and insurance issues. I was then told I would need to schedule and pay for another appointment instead. Under federal rules, eyeglass prescriptions must be released after an exam regardless of insurance status. The inability to explain charges while withholding my own prescription felt administratively hostile and unnecessarily obstructive. Unfortunately, this is not the practice it once was. I've chosen to move my care elsewhere and would caution others to be aware of potential administrative barriers when requesting records or prescriptions

Specifically, Maria at the front desk was overheard speaking negatively about another patient who had just walked in for his appointment. She told her coworker that the man was "annoying" and that he was "always coming in just to bother them." After hearing this, the coworker immediately began treating the patient poorly without even asking why he was there or whether he had an appointment. She dismissed him and told him he would have to come back later, only to find out that he did in fact have a scheduled appointment. Watching a patient be judged and treated disrespectfully before staff even understood the situation was very concerning. Because of this experience, I do not feel comfortable bringing my parents back to this clinic.

I decided to make the decision to get eye surgery last year and sought out recommendations and yelp for the best care. A friend highly recommended Dr. Lewis so I decided to make the appointment with him. Dr. Lewis is pretty straight forward and thorough which I really appreciate. I could see where people might misconstrue this to be rude and that can be someone else's opinion but honestly, I think he just likes to be honest and avoid wasting people's time. It's never great to feel like another number when you're seeking out care but Dr. Lewis and his team never made me feel that way. The techs and staff here are really friendly and welcoming. They helped to ease any fears or anxiety I had without being invalidating or passing judgment. One of the techs told me he himself got PRK from Dr. Lewis because he is so good at his job. And looking back on my whole experience, he's right! During the initial consultation appointment Dr. Lewis made sure to check all my measurements twice and assess for any other abnormalities. He was consistent and steadfast throughout this process and explained to me his concerns with lasik versus PRK given my specific eyes. I opted for the PRK after consulting with him and doing my own research. He and his team were on top of all the pre-surgery, surgery and post-op appointments. He also was just consistent each and every appointment, confident but always listening to my concerns. He fairly warned me the recovery process is not easy, which was accurate. Though I was unsure and feeling uneasy with my eye's recovery process after the first post-op appointment, he continued to assure me and offer further follow up appointments later after a few months. I'm actually sitting in the office at my post-op three month follow up appointment as I write this review. The appointment wasn't necessary but I had some concerns come up and he was happy to schedule me. I just told him my concern and he knew exactly what's at fault and gave a recommendation to address the problem. Even in this interaction when other doctors may have scoffed at having another follow up despite a successful surgery, he showed he cares. He's been practicing for a long time now and it shows, not only with his knowledge but how he provides patient care. I'm so grateful for the recommendation my friend gave and wanted to share with others who may also be seeking out such options for surgery. I've really enjoyed coming to this office and am so grateful to Dr. Lewis and his team for providing me with 20/20 vision after wearing glasses and contacts the past 20 years. Also glad this will be my last appointment for the foreseeable future!

I ask for all of us to be booked to see Dr. Stuart Lewis (I had read some not great reviews about another faculty member and knew I didn't want to see them), but then was informed after I let the person on the phone know I'd need both contact and glasses exams, to which I was told I'd have to see someone else for contacts, which is ridiculous. I'm certainly not making another appointment (when you're already over a month out) for someone else. Why would I do that? Well, I won't, so I guess I'll move on. I've worn both glasses and contacts for over 3 decades, and I've never heads such nonsense.

Very young physicians assistant or nurse practitioner was resistant to giving me 2 Valium for my back. I'm almost 60 not addicted to benzos and know what works! My back was out and Valium helps relax my muscles. He did wnd up giving the prescription to me but after I had to listen to a long explanation as to why other medications (that I've tried before) would work better. A very long and tiring day.
