Had me wait for 1hour 30 and never seen Doc they didn't care I was waiting and never told why I wait o sorry or anything

I waited 45 minutes from the time of my appointment to get back to the Pre op ward. When I was finally called I was told there were 6 people in front of me! This screamed mismanagement to me although it is possible it was a fluke as it was my one and only time there. (Just as I approached the receptionist to inquire how much longer it would be, I was called.) As I awaited treatment, I got to observe a festive BD party among staff directly across from my unit. They were eating birthday cake and when they were finished tossed a couple of paper towels around to put them away. The incongruity between young, playful staff and grumpy me, was sky high. I am embarrassed to even share this in a review. but I want to help future patients if I can, by suggesting a little less frivolity and more professionalism in similar situations. To be clear: I am NOT complaining about the care. It was excellent and each and every person in preop was kind and mindful of my needs medically. But sometimes that is not enough. I suffer from chronic pain and all the commotion during my long wait made me very stressed out. As you know, you deal with the patients as they are. It was pretty bad for me there . Even though I risk coming off like a crank, I wanted you to know that. If I had not been given a Valium I probably would have gotten up and left. It was not a good experience on the pre op level. The doctor was very nice and helpfully talked me through the surgery. Both he and the surgical nurse were A+. read more

MHEI was so wonderful! My LASIK experience super east and comfortable. I appreciated so much how transparent the whole process and staff were. My mom was there to drive me home and she was able to watch and record the whole procedure. I also appreciate how many times they double and triple check everything before doing the surgery. The Dr I saw was great and all the staff friendly but their billing dept is awful. They do not tell you everything up front and then you get a huge bill. They say this price is for lens and this for facility fee. I Paid over $3200 before surgery thinking this were the fees plus my insurance paid almost 10,000. Then I get a bill saying I need to pay another 2200 for lens. Thought that's what i paid before surgery. Even the billing people at main office didn't understand my bill and stated they have had many complaints about this. Just be aware it may not be the price they tell you. read more

Each of my examinations was interrupted by different staff members coming into the room, looking for equipment, looking through suitcases., talking to the person doing my examinations. y surgery was scheduled, after making arrangements with family members to change their work and vacation schedules to accommodate my need to be driven to/from the surgery. Then I receive a call that the doctor will be on vacation and my appointment needed to be changed. There appears to be poor awareness of patient confidentiality and the individual patient challenges to making arrangements. I did not feel valued, just a widget on an assembly line. read more

I was taken in a little early. Which is a good way to start. Stephanie was quick to assure my comfort by first carefully placing the tape on my upper eyelids to hold my slightly drooping lids as open as comfortably possible. She paused the test a couple of times with each eye to clear tear build up. Madline was also attentive to my eye needs and explained the test results well enough for me to understand their meanings what comes next. Well done all of team ! read more

Better than GREAT! From start to finish on my first appointment. on my call for an appointment, let's start with Victoria in Customer Service. The referral from my long-time ophthalmologist had not worked its way up through their workload. That's when I would be getting a call to set an appointment. I was anxious to get in for a first appointment as soon as possible so she checked their incoming faxes and found mine and set an appointment for me right then. That gave me and my wife some peace of mind. Please give her my "thanks". Upon arrival, check-in was easy; provided my completed forms, Medicare card, and driver's license and I was "in". I was a bit early for my appointment, but at the appointed time, my name was called and the testing process started; very thorough. The technicians were all professional but friendly and reassuring in their answers to my questions. At the end, I met Dr. Marshall Huang, a man with three titles afterr his name, yet friendly as a drinking buddy. Answered all my questions as we went through his parrt of my exam. He physically inspected my eyes internally in a more detailled fashion than I've ever had before, describing for his transcript every little detail he found. Then we talked some more, until I was fully informed of his finidings and recommendations. I agreed completely with his recommendations and look forward to doing what's medically possible to slow down my rate of eye damage (glaucoma & macular degeneration in both eyes; one more advanced than the other. I will thank my regular ophthalmologist for referring me to the Mile High Eye Institute for specialized care. Thanks to veryone who help take care of me on my first appointment. They scheduled an appt for my boyfriend's PRK surgery for 1130am and we are still in the waiting room waiting for him to go in and it is 1:44pm. Be on time and please for the love of God, replace the chairs in your waiting room. They are cheap and uncomfortable with no cushions. 15 to 30 minutes max on these terrible things. Not over 2 hours! We had an emergency that needed follow-up. They were completely booked but let us come in anyway. We were warned that they didn't know long we might wait because we would be seen in between scheduled patients and we were not established patients. I hadn't finished the paperwork before we were taken to an exam room. The doctor came in within a half hour of being in the exam room. She immediately recognized what was needed and prescribed stronger antibiotics. She was honest with us that there would be some vision loss but could not say how much until infection clears. read more

The outcome of my high-priced cataract replacement "LOL" lens was outstanding. I note in reading the laundry list of comments that are below a five-star rating seem to relate to insurance processing issues. I will not down-grade this outstanding clinic because of the poor service of the insurance manager; however, Dr. Richheimer should take note that most of the adverse ratings involve the insurance manager. A swift kick in the butt might be a useful step to get this individual focused on their job, yes it seems deserved. In the alternative, perhaps replacing this individual would do wonders for his otherwise outstanding clinic. read more

I went to Mile High Eye Institute on the recommendation from my regular optometrist due to my worsening case of keratoconus (Google it if you're interested). I had been told by another surgeon that my eyes would not be able to be repaired by corneal cross-linking and that my only option would probably be a corneal transplant and that I would be on immunosuppressants for the rest of my life.... not really the news a 28 year old wants to hear. Dr. Richheimer assured me that that most certainly was not the case and that he was confident he would be able to stop the progression of this disease with two simple procedures. AND HE DID! Both surgeries went off without a hitch and the doctor was so patient with all of my (and my family's) questions before, during, and after the surgery. I plan on going back to him in two year to have PRK done to correct my vision so long as everything holds up from this most recent surgery. Dr. Vest did the third operation on my eye back in 2016 to try to fix a botched cataract surgery done by another doctor. Lately, I am experiencing night blindness in that eye and it has become very blurry when I read even with readers. He didn't seem concerned about the night blindness and suggested that he do a laser repair of the lens to correct the blurriness. That was about it for the visit and I came away somewhat confused. At this point, I still have concerns and I am thinking about finding another reputable ophthalmologist to have the eye reexamined. Dr. Vest is a good doctor and surgeon and perhaps nothing more can be done for the eye after the trauma of three surgeries.
