I've been going to this practice for 20 years. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and professionalism by the doctors and staff. They have the most up-to-date equipment (Dr. Stuart Lewis loves his toys!). I have never had a problem with billing or experienced overcharging. Last year Dr. Tammy quickly diagnosed my constant tearing-up as a dry-eye condition and prescribed drops and Omega oil supplements and it worked immediately. I've been to a few eye clinics in Denver due to moving around a bit and never quite found a great optometrist in the process. I decided to make the decision to get eye surgery last year and sought out recommendations and yelp for the best care. A friend highly recommended Dr. Lewis so I decided to make the appointment with him. Dr. Lewis is pretty straight forward and thorough which I really appreciate. I could see where people might misconstrue this to be rude and that can be someone else's opinion but honestly, I think he just likes to be honest and avoid wasting people's time. It's never great to feel like another number when you're seeking out care but Dr. Lewis and his team never made me feel that way. The techs and staff here are really friendly and welcoming. They helped to ease any fears or anxiety I had without being invalidating or passing judgment. One of the techs told me he himself got PRK from Dr. Lewis because he is so good at his job. And looking back on my whole experience, he's right! During the initial consultation appointment Dr. Lewis made sure to check all my measurements twice and assess for any other abnormalities. He was consistent and steadfast throughout this process and explained to me his concerns with lasik versus PRK given my specific eyes. I opted for the PRK after consulting with him and doing my own research. He and his team were on top of all the pre-surgery, surgery and post-op appointments. He also was just consistent each and every appointment, confident but always listening to my concerns. He fairly warned me the recovery process is not easy, which was accurate. Though I was unsure and feeling uneasy with my eye's recovery process after the first post-op appointment, he continued to assure me and offer further follow up appointments later after a few months. I'm actually sitting in the office at my post-op three month follow up appointment as I write this review. The appointment wasn't necessary but I had some concerns come up and he was happy to schedule me. I just told him my concern and he knew exactly what's at fault and gave a recommendation to address the problem. Even in this interaction when other doctors may have scoffed at having another follow up despite a successful surgery, he showed he cares. He's been practicing for a long time now and it shows, not only with his knowledge but how he provides patient care. I'm so grateful for the recommendation my friend gave and wanted to share with others who may also be seeking out such options for surgery. I've really enjoyed coming to this office and am so grateful to Dr. Lewis and his team for providing me with 20/20 vision after wearing glasses and contacts the past 20 years. I echo every single bad review that this place has ever received. I have never felt so disrespected and belittled by a doctor's office before. When I initially got my eye exam, they gave me the wrong prescription and I have been wearing the wrong contacts for months. When I finally notice the mistake and question them about it I am repeatedly told that it was my fault, that I should have "advocated for myself sooner," and that I don't understand how an eye exam works and must be "confused." I was truly shocked by how this conversation was handled and left feeling completely misunderstood, dismissed, and belittled. All I was looking for was some empathy and understanding about the situation. However, I have never been met with this amount of unprofessionalism and disrespect ever before from a doctor's office (hence this being the first bad review I have ever written for anyone). Looking at past reviews, there actually seems to be a pattern for this place writing incorrect prescriptions and then gaslighting the patient about it. I saw Dr. Rachel Lewis who was dismissive and rude. She walked in told me her name and then proceeded to scold me for not getting yearly exams. When I explained to her that I understood she continued to lecture me. While looking through my eye tests she never explained what she was looking for or how my tests looked. After she was done she just told me everything looked "fine" and left. The whole experience with Dr. Lewis made me feel like I was a bother as opposed to a patient whose health she cared about. With that being said working with Jenifer was wonderful, she explained all tests to me and answered all my questions. Jenifer would be the only reason I would return, which is unlikely. read more

Found this office two three years ago looking for a more thorough eye exam. Met Dr Kruger who was new to the practice and have been coming back ever since. He was thorough and able to explain the tear in my retina he discovered and helping in get me set up to have a retina specialist follow up and perform treatment to repair it for me. If you suffer from this eye condition you know how frustrating it can be getting contact lenses that work correctly. Dr Lewis fit me with specialty lenses that have allowed me to see great and the lenses are comfortable all day and night. Unethical billing practices They will nickel and dime you for everything. I went in for an eye exam and as part of the exam they removed a stray eyelash. The doctor made it seem like it was no big deal then they charge me $140 as though it was minor surgery. I could have removed it myself! I called around and found several offices who respect their patients enough to not charge them for a separate procedure for something so minuscule. I suggest finding one of them read more

Seeing the physician was fine but reception took my money but forgot to file for my contacts. Received them several weeks late, and was unable to get them in time for my trip. Went back in today to get my prescription, and the receptionist straight up grimaced at me! Even before I opened my mouth to tell her why I was there. NEVER in my life have I been treated with such INCOMPETENCE, DISRESPECT or UNETHICAL BILLING. 48 years of wearing glasses/contacts and I am 50! I made the appt with the Very Clear need to be seen by a MD; instead i was given 'Doctor Tammy' who put me in lenses TWO STRENGTHS BELOW what I wear. It took FIVE MONTHS to get contacts that work - still no glasses rx!!! On top of that, had to suffer repeated VERBAL ABUSE from the 'office manager' (who is very very proud of that title lol)who said things like "YOU PEOPLE always want to be over-corrected!" AND sent me a $300 bill - after I paid $75 at appt, don't think she even tried billing my insurance. For 8.5 months I've repeatedly been told the *actual* doctor would adjust my glasses rx (and told multiple times to "just go ahead and get glasses with the wrong rx; they will re-do"), every single week - still nothing. Doubt they even know how to spell MALPRACTICE. I don't even leave bad reviews - ever. But this experience has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE read more

Wow... I'm really surprised by all of the one star reviews! I left this place feeling really happy with how my appt went. Dr. Gray did everything from the very beginning of my exam to the end. I did not see a tech at all which has never happened in any office that I have been to. She was super patient, friendly, and thorough. When I told her my eyes have been very dry since moving to CO, she gave me different samples of eye drops and Omega 3 pills to try and a couple of different contact brands to see which I liked best. My eyes have since felt SO much better! I was able to refuse the dilation part of the exam without any issues and since I am already a contact wearer, the contact exam was only $35. I echo the sentiments by others speculating they are trying to milk your money. That's exactly how I felt after meeting the doctor. I made an appointment to try and figure out some eye problems I've been having. I went through the whole eye exam process with a technician and only spent maybe 2 full minutes with the actual doctor. He didn't even check my eyes out and said I would need to make another appointment to address my eye concerns. I was furious! Why did I just make this appointment then!? I have vision insurance, but it only covers 1 eye exam per calendar year, so now I will have to pay out of pocket to somewhere else and have my eyes evaluated again. I refuse to spend any more money with this place after they scammed me. Look elsewhere!!! read more

I would not recommend this opthamologist to anyone. If i could give them 0 stars, I absolutely would. Early in 2014 I was diagnosed with keratoconus. I looked a specialist and found that Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Surgeons specialized in this. I was delighted to find someone that could help with this disease. Things started out ok but have now taken a turn for the worse. I made the decision to get the INTACS procedure done. This was going to require that I be out of my glasses for two weeks. There were two problems I ran into here. 1. I could not use my glasses benefit because Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Surgeons had already billed for medically necessary contacts (which are about $1500). I never used these contacts, I tried but was unable to tolerate them. 2. The second problem was that the prescription they gave me for glasses was WRONG. I got glasses two days after the eye exam and the glasses made me sick to my stomach. I called and asked if they could recheck me and was told this was as good as it was going to get. Unfortunately for them I went to Americas Best and received a prescription that I could wear. So cherry creek eye was just unwilling to help of incompetent. After this i decided to go somewhere else for my INTAC surgery. I asked them to refund my contacts benefit for the year and have been getting the run around for 2 weeks. I also found out from the other doctor that I did not need to wear glasses for two weeks so I was out another $200. This place is a scam and is just trying to milk all of its patients for every penny they can. read more

I found Dr. Pennington's arrogance very off-putting, particularly coming from someone with a relatively short career. Having seen several ophthalmologists over the past 30 years, I prefer doctors with many more years of experience. Thankfully, I recently found one in the area and my eyes have never been better. I have been going to Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Surgeons for several years, thanks to recommendations received by many friends. I have extremely dry eyes due to an autoimmune disease, am extremely nearsighted, and am in a profession that requires contact lens. Although it took some time to get the correct prescription and contacts, both Dr Lewis and Dr Gray were extremely helpful. In addition, the entire staff couldn't be better. I have Medicare and a supplement plan. This coverage was sufficient to cover my former annual eye exams, but then I moved. At Cherry Creek Eye Physicians, they charged $50 to dilate my eyes - $50 for a squirt of fluid in each eye, $50 over and above my coverage. I've asked around, and the most I've heard of for this procedure is $35. This just seems like good old greed, and I won't be going back. read more

Unfortunately I have had several poor experiences here. On what would be my last appointment, I visited with burning in one of my eyes and bumps inside my inner eyelid. I asked Dr. Pennington 3 times to please look inside my eye at the bumps after he dismissed my symptoms as simply being dry eye. I found the doctor to be dismissive and condescending, when asked for a further explanation of my symptoms he said "its too complicated for you to understand". A day later I went to another doctor who was kind enough to indulge my request, and he diagnosed me with a double eye infection and prescribed 2 weeks of steroid antibiotics. The system of billing is unclear and disorganized. I asked to pay when leaving the office and was told I owed nothing. Months later I receive calls about an overdue invoice that I never received in the mail. I give my credit card information over the phone, am told everything is up to date and receive a voicemail a week later that mentions how they would hate to have to send me to collections for the bill I had just paid... read more

I have a relatively fast (more on this later if your interested) forming cataract diagnosed as a posterior sub-capsular cataract. After finding this medical facility referenced on the web (among others) I called them first (Tuesday after Labor day, 9/4) as I enjoy biking and they are near the Cherry Creek bike path, plus one of the closer eye surgery centers to my house. They set up an examination for Thursday morning, 9/6, very fast!! I was able to ride my bike to the office and they even allowed me to bring my bike into the waiting room (I have a somewhat expensive bike and I so appreciate businesses that understand issues with tampering and theft). The staff is polite, friendly, considerate and knowledgeable. They have now already scheduled me for a ore-operative exam on Monday 9/10 and surgery on 9/17 which was as soon as they had an open surgery slot. As I type this I'm struggling to see my computer screen and I would not have minded if they could even have done the surgery sooner (they did put me on a cancellation list). This last statement is not meant as a criticism, but my dire need for surgery as I descend into a fog of blindness and to contrast this offices responsiveness with that of my health care provider Kaiser Permanente (KP). Again, only read on if your curious about the back story.. About a year & a half ago, I noticed some blurriness in my right eye and visited KP for an examination They said I have cataracts forming and eventually would need to address. As a person with significant myopia since childhood, changing prescriptions well into adulthood and eventually LASIK, I left the KP optometrist thinking I needed a new prescription and "eventually for the cataracts" meant many years in the future. As my vision in my right eye continued to decline I finally visited America's Best for an exam and 'new' prescription only to be told I have a cataract (I was very pleased with America's Best as well and so stated in YELP. KP's eye exams are thorough but expensive, I have a high deductable plan with KP and an unrelated accident last year put me past my max deduction which meant all further services were free.). My delusional bubble burst , I eventually called KP for cataract evaluation (evaluation!! not surgery about a month ago) while finally realizing/acknowledging that my left eye is also deteriorating rapidly. I'm legally blind in my right eye and with deteriorating vision in my left I have suspended driving (your welcome Denver drivers & pedestrians) and may have to curtail bike riding soon. Yet, every effort to get KP to prioritize me on their waiting list has resulted in a dead end and I may be on the 'evaluation waiting list' for a few more months before I get to the top. Overall I have been pleased with KP otherwise, but my experience with their ophthalmology/cataract department has been extremely frustrating. The silver lining in this case is I found Cherry Creek Eye Surgery and I'm very pleased, I just wish I would have called them a month ago. . . . read more

Although I was somewhat satisfied with my vision, the comfort was not so great as my cornea changed..to make a long story short, I did my own research and thank God I found dr Lewis and dr gray who changed my life forever! I have been going to Cherry Creek Eye Physicians for about 4 years now. I started going when I was told I needed to start looking into surgery for a degenerative eye condition called keratoconus. First let me say Dr. Lewis was great at providing all the information I needed for the surgery, answering all my questions, and putting me at ease. Another great thing about this office is the people that work there, everyone is always very welcoming and the ladies at the front desk always remember my name without checking their files or computer screen first.
