My appointment with Dr. Jacobs for an eye exam went well. I feel it was thorough and his office was very professional. Because my appointment was at the end of the day, I was told that I would have to call back to schedule a contact lens fitting. I did not expect to have so much trouble making this appointment but that has become so much of an issue that I have decided to obtain my prescriptions written by Dr. Jacobs and go to another Eye Doctor to complete my full eye care needs. I will not return to Dr. Jacobs office because it is obvious that his office is understaffed to handle the volume. I was put on hold numerous times and my voicemails went several days unanswered in an attempt to schedule this visit. I saw Dr. Jacobs for cataract surgery though I didn't have clouded vision due to cataracts. I was hopeful for the surgery and opted for the pricier lenses. Big Mistake. My vision was great after I had one of the pricy new lenses put in and called to cancel the second lens. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to trust one of Dr. Jacobs' assistants who insisted that I get the second lens. I believe the office saw $$$$ and didn't want to lose out. While I had been lucky to have spent most of my life with perfect near vision, after receiving my second lens, I lost that wonderful part of my everyday life. I was in tears. When I mentioned this heartbreak (and it continues to affect me every single day), to Dr Jacobs, he had no sympathy and said, "But, how is your distance vision?" I thought of the bad joke after President Lincoln was shot. "But, other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?" If you decide to go to this office, be sure to explain your everyday visual needs before you step into the operating room. I would recommend going to a different clinic that thoroughly explains what is involved and is willing to answer tough questions. I certainly do not recommend this clinic or doctor. read more

My grandma-in-law came here for both of her cataract eye surgeries. She came from another country and had never received any medical care in the US before, so she was pretty nervous. This was the biggest surgery she has ever received. Her vision was poor before but is most definitely improved post-procedure with Dr. Jacobs. She was really apprehensive and nervous about the procedure but he was so patient and understanding with her! We're all really thankful it went well. I don't know how she was functioning without her vision beforehand but she definitely has better quality of life now with her improved vision. Dr Jacobs is exactly who you want to take care of your eyes. I came to him for a second opinion because I was not happy with my vision after the first cataract surgery. I was very nervous about cateract surgery. I had Laziks in 2000, but couldn't locate my records. I am a 66-year-old woman with a history of bilateral cataracts and severe myopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. I wore contact lenses for many years but discontinued their use after having corneal problems. When I asked for cataract surgery at Kaiser, I was put on a long waiting list. I was called by Kaiser and told that their ophthalmologist in Lone Tree had a cancellation, so I accepted the appointment. At the consultation, the doctor was condescending and bullying in her treatment of me. I told her that I would like to see without glasses after cataract surgery. She said, "I'm not God! I can't do miracles!" When I squinted from the bright light in my eyes, she threatened that I might not be a candidate for cataract surgery. She pushed the mono-focal intraocular lens because it does not cost extra money. In retrospect, it's an easier procedure for her to do. I left the appointment feeling intimidated, discouraged, and depressed. I then cancelled my follow-up appointment with her. I would not let that doctor do surgery on my eyes. I put my name back on Kaiser's interminable cataract surgery waiting list for a different doctor. Reading was very difficult, but I did extensive research online for the best cataract surgeon in the Denver area. I also did research on multi-focal intraocular lenses. It takes extra training and extra skill to properly insert a multi-focal intraocular lens during surgery. My research led me to Dr. Jason Jacobs at Colorado Ophthalmology Associates in Denver. There were many, many reviews online that raved about Dr. Jacobs unexcelled abilities as a cataract surgeon. The reviews said that Dr. Jacobs does miracles. Would I rather have a doctor who patients say does miracles, or a doctor who yells that she cannot do miracles? It was clear that even if I waited for a long time, Kaiser has no surgeon of the caliper of Dr. Jacobs. I determined that I would wait until we changed insurance, so that I could get Dr. Jacobs to do my surgery. Within the year, my husband lost his job and his employer-provided Kaiser insurance. This change gave us both the necessity, and the opportunity to change our insurance. With the excellent guidance of Boomer Benefits health insurance agency in Ft. Worth Texas (See my Google review), we switched to original Medicare Part B, a Medigap Part B supplement plan, and a Part D pharmacy plan. This allows us to choose our own doctors. As soon as I received my new Medicare card, I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs recommended the PanOptix intraocular lens for me. Yes, this lens costs extra money that Medicare does not cover, but I have been unable to read or see well for years. I have worn thick glasses my entire life. I thought, "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and this is the vision that I will have for the rest of my life. I am worth it!" I had my cataracts removed and PanOptix intraocular lenses inserted in my eyes, one week apart. The surgery was quick, easy and painless. After surgery on the first eye was completed, I became aware of how bad my vision had been. Everything I looked at with the unoperated eye looked dirty, with a smoky greyish-yellowish-brownish tint. Everything I looked at with the operated eye looked clear, bright, and colorful. The fall leaves were bright orange and yellow. The clear fall sky was a deep blue, and I love the color blue! I gathered up my two pairs of glasses and gave them to Colorado Ophthalmology to give to the Lion's Club optical missions. Sometimes when I wake up, I open my nightstand drawer to grab my glasses, and I realize that I no longer have or need any. I have excellent distance and mid-range vision. My near vision, which is slower to come in, is improving every day. This is without glasses, something I previously could only yearn for. I persisted until I found the best cataract surgeon, Dr. Jason Jacobs. He is also a patient and kind person. I am thrilled and grateful. After having cataract surgery, I discovered that their estimate was actually not a total... they failed to include the surgery center fees, the anesthesiology fees, and the anesthesiologist fees. Forward 4.5 years and my vision is terrible. I returned to the office to discover that a membrane had grown between my eye and the artificial lens. Dr. Jacobs examined me and said "No worries, this is common. The procedure to fix it is really quick and will be 100% covered by your insurance." Not even close. The procedures were only partially successful and I owe over $600! Add to this, I was consistently kept waiting at least 20 minutes after my appointment time, the waiting room is extremely uncomfortable, the receptionist is often rude, and their air conditioning barely works. After trying my best to handle this privately w/ the dr. and his office to no avail, I told them I'd be taking to social media. Take your business elsewhere! read more

I saw Dr Jacobs after being referred (to another practice with lousy reviews for late appointments) for cataract evaluation. His office was prompt, professional and kind, and Dr Jacobs is wonderful. I am very freaked out about anything with eyes, and the thought of the two procedures I'll need to correct astigmatism and cataracts are daunting. I am 51 years old and have always had extremely poor eyesight - so poor that I was not a candidate for Lasik surgery. I went to a new eye doctor who recommended a procedure called "clear lens replacement." I had never heard of that, but was immediately intrigued. I set appointments with two doctors to interview them; my first interview was with Dr. Jacobs. I am the type of person who asks MANY questions, and Dr. Jacobs was very patient with me. I liked Dr. Jacobs so much that I did not even bother with the second interview. I ended up having the surgery, which is the same as cataract surgery except that I did not have cataracts. After 48 years of wearing glasses, I am now able to see 20/25 out of both eyes without corrective lenses! Talk about liberating. I am only a few weeks out of my surgeries, but I have more energy, fewer headaches, and am just tickled that I can see! I cannot wait to go snorkeling and engage in sports without glasses! I can never remember a time that I didn't need glasses, and I was resigned to having poor vision throughout my life. Dr. Jacobs' RN, Wendy, is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. Her communication skills are 100% below par. She was condescending, rude, and cut me off at every opportunity. The front office staff wasn't much better. They were also going to charge me over $100 for a "lens fitting fee" which is completely outrageous. Dr. Jacobs was very nice but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced and I've been in health care for 10 years. If you're looking for an office that's accommodating and customer service oriented this is not the place for you. read more

Dr. Jacobs performed cataract surgery and implantation of IOLs in both of my eyes plus relaxing incisions for astigmatism. My post op experience was this: five months after surgery my vision still wasn't good enough to drive. Dr. Jacobs wouldn't admit that I had residual astigmatism or any problem with my vision. I lost out on five months of work and quality of life. Only after I went to another doctor did I get the correction that I needed: YAG laser for secondary cataracts and the correct refraction for my astigmatism. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Jacobs to anyone. read more

Absolutely Awesome! It had been over a year that I experienced cloudy vision and just thought my prescription was wrong or my eyes were changing. I can't believe no more $$$ for glasses, contacts, cleaning and wetting solutions--emptied out two drawers full of eye stuff. I can read, see distance and all points in between better than ever after having early cataracts removed and Symfony lenses inserted (this is once and done -- never needs to be redone in my lifetime). Dr. Jacobs is personable, experienced, and elicits confidence--he is a graduate of Harvard and Duke Universities. Target tried to get me to order more contacts even though my vision would not have been totally corrected with new contacts. I pushed Target to include dilating my eyes as that is usually included in an annual exam and discovered my vision was compromised by the start of cataracts. Instead I chose to follow two of my neighbors' optimal recommendations to see Dr. Jacobs when I noticed they were was totally "glasses free" even though in their "70s." Dr. Jacob's 0ffice Staff are thoughtful, organized, and responsive. I never had to wait long for a "call-back." This vision is remarkable. read more

I suggest Dr. Jacobs if you need more than routine eye care, however if you don't have insurance and need a routine exam, go somewhere else. I went for a prescription for glasses and contacts, and without insurance the cost was $216 after a 20% discount on $270 (for paying cash at time of service). I didn't have dilation and the tech did the vision exam. Dr. Jacobs examined my eyes using the light and said they were healthy. I said my script for contacts was working for me, I brought the info with me. The tech suggested a different brand, same script I already had, and gave me a 5-day sample pack. They don't have glasses here, which I knew going in. I asked twice when I scheduled and when they called to confirm what the cost was for the exam, and both times the answer was that Dr. Jacobs would decide during the exam based on whether I had astigmatism other problems. The first girl told me $150+, the second one told me between $185-$300. I think charging me on the high end is ridiculous. I wonder what an insurance company would pay him for the same routine visit. My guess is nowhere near $216 or $270. I went to Dr. Jacobs because he took great care of my mom and that's why I recommend him for anything other than routine eye exam. read more
