Yuck‼ I rate Gary Wille's automobile repair shop an "F." When we moved to Oregon, Wisconsin, we went to Wille's. I dropped off the car first thing in the morning, saying, "Inspect the air conditioning, do oil and lube, and inspect all systems." The guy wrote it down. As I picked up the car at the end of the day, I looked at the invoice. They hadn't taken a look at the air conditioning at all. Nothin'. Nada. Duh! Air conditioning had been at the top of the list. How could have possibly have missed AIR CONDITIONING unless they were illiterate⁉ They essentially had done nothin' worth anything that day, and charged me for doin' nothin'. They weren't even apologetic. I was not a happy camper. I was new in town, didn't know anyone so -- fool that I was,-- I gave them another chance. They didn't do any better the second time around. According to my experience, they charged me a pretty penny for doing doodly-squat. Do I recommend them? Not on your life. Not a chance. They s_ck -- is that strong enough wording? I categorize them as "incompetent thieves." Move on. Find another shop. I can say unequivocally that Gary's Wille's was the worst vehicle repair shop I have ever gone to. I would give them "zero stars" if I could (or even a negative rating, like "minus 5"). This shop doesn't deserve one star, but Yelp requires a rating, so fine, one f'in' star. read more

I recently had extensive suspension and brake work done on my Dodge Ram 3500. I received a copy of the final repair order and checked the price of the parts they installed from the NAPA store they used. I was shocked to find that they tripled the cost when they billed me. When I pointed out this fact, Dave, the owner, replied "Don't go there". I asked for a reduction in the bill. He allowed me a 10% reduction. He told me his standard mark-up is 100%. Very disappointed customer here. Not only did I get attitude on the phone, they didn't fix what I asked and instead quoted me for an expensive part I didn't need. I was able to fix what needed to be done on my own, after all. Another red flag was when I had to specify the type of oil my car takes because they didn't know. We have used Gary Willies for years now, for everything from routine oil changes to tires and other automotive services. We have always had a great experience with them, but today was above all. I called them in a panic 10 minutes before they closed because I hit the side mirror of my vehicle while backing out of the garage. Dave told me to bring it up and he'd see what I can do. Not only did he stick around after they closed, he was able to fix the mirror for me the best it could be considering the damage I had done. They are very fair and reasonable, have always been excellent professionals and are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend them to anyone for anything automotive related. read more

With a broken down, aging van, a visit to Yelp came up with Gary Willie's. My call for towing assistance resulted in being on their lot within 25 minutes. Dave at the service counter, is a 'straight look you in the eye guy'. He listed several paths we could follow in solving my problem. He then provided a quote for most benign first step in evaluating the situation. Remarkably, my van was in the shop in less than half an hour after my arrival. Further inspection brought up additional issues that we discussed at length. He went over the the associated costs and we agreed on a course of action. This day could have been a total disaster. However, with Dave's assistance in getting my vehicle to the shop quickly, a straight assessment of the situation and an immediate quote, helped me avoid what was certain to be a nightmarish experience. I've had a lot of experience with automotive service shops over the last 45 years, and I can pretty well tell when someone is being straight with me and when they're not. I spoke with Dave at Gary Wille's Auto Service today, and he was very helpful. Dave provided great advice and information very clearly, and helped me decide about buying a certain used car I was considering at a dealership. He took a lot of time to help me, and everything he said made sense and supported my own opinion. I would trust this shop with my vehicle without a moments doubt. Nobody likes getting bad news about their car, and nobody looks forward to paying for repairs. It's just one of the necessary evils that goes along with owning a car. At a good shop, the owner deserves to earn a living and they deserve to charge enough to pay their service techs a good wage. That helps them retain good staff and keep up the quality of their work. My 2003 Ford Focus needed a front wheel bearing. Gary Willes quoted me $583 to do the job. Kayser Ford quoted me $350 to do the job. A local competitor quoted me $275 to do the job. To call them overpriced is an understatement at best. read more

I do not recommend this shop at all. The quality of labor is terrible and they try to convince you you need new tires when you don't need. My stirring wheel was not centered after alignment and when I told them the problem they said it might be the wind. So we when for a test drive and he put a piece of tape on the stirring wheel as if he was doing me a favor to fix it. Well, their slogan is a lie. They don't do things well the first time!
