I had a rattle in the undercarriage of my car. I only noticed it when it was particularly bumpy. I took it into my usual service center, and they suggested replacing my struts was overdue. So, I had them replace the struts. They only replaced the rear struts, but they called and told me they had found and fixed the issue. I was happy until I drove away, and the issue persisted. I tried calling a couple of other mechanics, but I was leaving in a few weeks, and neither were going to be able to get to it before I left. One of those mechanics suggested another service center. I took my vehicle there and they told me it was my intake resonator, and I would need to take it to a mechanic as that location didn't work on resonators. After polling my friends, multiple friends suggested the Car Care Clinic. So, I called and made an appointment. They were friendly and helpful. They called me and told me the issue was actually my brake pads. They provided an estimate, fixed, and most importantly when I went to pick it up, it was actually fixed! So, I am a fan and will definitely be taking my car to the Car Care Clinic in the future. read more

First, I really like this place, they do a good job and are very nice people. The problem, I was quoted one price for work, and it was over 500.00 dollars more than the quote, The owner called me to see what happened, I told him that the over the phone quote was different than the bill. The front desk said they would send me a quote but did not. I called the day I was supposed to pick the vehicle up four days after I dropped off the vehicle and said I never received a written estimate they then sent it the day I was to pick up the vehicle after the work was completed. Great, friendly customer service. My car was acting up this morning and wouldn't move when I started it up and put it in gear and after calling numerous local auto shops closest to me they were the only ones available to take a look at it on the same day. Their waiting area is quite comfy! They've got complimentary candy on the desk, a variety of sodas to choose from, bottled water, coffee, dog treats, and kid's toys. Very welcoming to all. While waiting I heard them tell a customer that you don't need to make an appointment for an oil change, as it is first come first served. That's a plus! Can I give them 6 stars? Seriously, I highly recommend the team at Car Care Clinic. I've been getting my oil changed there for years, and finally had to share the secret of this place! They are the model for how a business can go above and beyond to delight a customer. Service has always been fast, friendly and professional. I don't know if they offer a certain turnaround time for an oil change, but I dropped in on a weekday at 7:30am and had my car back within half an hour. That's the good news, the bad news is that I didn't get to stay long enough to enjoy their waiting lounge (haha). They've got plenty of drinks and snacks to pass the time, as well as more magazines and newspapers than a doctor's office! Comfy couches for relaxing as well. And if you need to drop off your car and head to campus or somewhere nearby, I think they'll even offer to keep your car there until you come back. What else do I like about this place? They don't overcharge for an oil change, unlike the experiences I've had at many of the major chains. And while the other places always try to up sell you on a "better filter" or "needing" to replace a miscellaneous part at a huge profit to them, Car Care Clinic has always been courteous about letting me know what things I should think about fixing and in what time frame. The oil change was done quickly, and they didn't try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn't need. I really appreciated this. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. It was a nice place to wait. They offered soda and water. The nice surprise was the card that was left in my car. It had two suckers on it and let me know that I could stop by to get my fluids and air pressure checked and topped off at no charge. I will defiantly be coming back here. I am a college student and money is not always available for me. I was super stressed out about my car's engine light on and driving weirdly. I called this place and they told me they will look at it if I want to drop off the car for the day. Dropped it off at 8am, 12pm they look at, call me to let me know what's wrong and the estimate price. Wait for me to say "okay, fix it" then they will fix it. Some places don't even call me and just fix random thing that I don't need and put extra cost total. I really like this place on how up to date they want me to know about the car, let me know the estimate, wait for me to approve and then fix it right away with very fair pricing! Technicians and front desk ppl are super nice and friendly! It is super easy to drop the car off and pick up afterward too! Payment can be made over the phone and I don't even sweat about coming home early to get the car! Love the place! I really think more ppl should come here for their car problems! Only had a brief, one-time encounter with this shop so far, but their service was fantastic! My side door was closed while holding the handle in a way that prohibited the locking mechanism from working (leaving my door uncloseable, which was interesting driving while my passenger held the door closed, but still ajar). Obviously this would 1) drain my battery with a door open, and 2) be problematic in winter with a door ajar in outside, public parking. As soon as it happened, I drove to the closest mechanic/auto shop I knew of which happened to be the Car Care Clinic on Univ. Ave. Craig got my details, set up an estimate of roughly $130 to repair (in the worst case scenario of disassembling the door to fix it), and we waited. Luckily for us, it didn't seem busy, and within 15 minutes, they had pulled the car into the garage to inspect. Another 5 minutes later, they pulled the car out and were done. When Craig called us back up, he briefly explained the cause and the repair, and said the service was done without charge!!! FANTASTIC! It's really great when a truly small car problem can be examined, fixed within minutes, and the shop is willing to build rapport with customers by offering their services (for such small issues) without charge. They easily could have charged $20-30 for it, but I'm impressed they didn't and went the route of service that is above and beyond. Excellent job guys! One negative comment or constructive criticism, it seems like there are some loose tiles near the kids area in the waiting room, might be dangerous, but a parent should spot it and be able to control their kid(s) anyway. I hope I never have to write something like this again. I dropped off my 17 year-old daughter's Honda to be serviced for a "check engine" light. It was our first time there, with limited parking available. She left the car in the lot without the key for less than four minutes, while I parked my car next door. When I came back minutes later, owner Terry Scholl YELLED at me, telling me to "please don't leave the car without the key." The car was blocking traffic. Fine, but then he GRABBED the key and went through the door; seconds later, he drove my daughter's car around the corner, TIRES SCREECHING. He came back in and SLAMMED the key on the counter. His wife and technician were embarrassed, saying he "was just having a moment." He could have done tremendous damage to the car, other customers' cars waiting in the lot, and pedestrians. It made me sick to my stomach. I called my husband and we took the car to the Honda dealership, where they were equally shocked at this behavior. I'm almost 50 years old and have endured some questionable customer service encounters; I've had my own bad days and took it out on the wrong people in the wrong way. That's life. I've been to Car Care Clinic four or five times, and the past few experiences were unpleasant. I understand giving a company the benefit of the doubt, but not three times. I brought my vehicle in to Car Care Clinic a few weeks ago to get the rear strut mount reinstalled. I spent ten minutes at the desk trying explain that I wanted them to disassemble and reassemble the piece. Once this was clarified, I left my car with them. Car Care Clinic called me a few hours later saying that they had "figured out the problem" and I would have to come in another day to fix it. When I came in, they wanted to charge me a $32 diagnostic fee. I didn't want a diagnosis, I was clear about the repair I wanted done. At this point Car Care Clinic quoted me at $171 for the repair (although the math on the paper added up to $164). I had the repair done at another local shop for $68. I also came in to Care Care Clinic a few weeks ago with a concern about my suspension. I spoke with the tech and clearly stated that I did not believe brake rotors to be the cause, and that I wanted the suspension looked at. $32 later the tech told me that it was my brake rotors. When I asked if I could look at the suspension while the car was in the air (which any decent shop will allow), Jeff (the owner) told me I couldn't, because, as he put it, "how would you feel if I were standing over your shoulder while you work?". All I wanted was to see the parts of the suspension the tech had looked at! I replaced the pads and rotors on good faith this past weekend, and lo and behold, the car still shakes! When I called to ask if I could be refunded for a misdiagnosis, Jeff recommended I find another mechanic. While I'm sure Car Care Clinic is fine for oil changes and tire rotations, they are more than happy to charge unnecessary diagnostic fees and their pricing for labor is not competitive. The staff is friendly and for the most part knowledgable. Car Care Clinic is also conveniently located off of University Avenue. That being said, if you need something diagnosed, I would recommend seeking out another mechanic. read more

I've had one too many bad car experiences so I'm very hesitant to try new places; however, with Car Care Clinic I was pleasantly surprised. As a background for this review, I started patronizing CCC years ago because I was previously using Jiffy Lube, which was much more convenient & just a few blocks away used a "hard sell" technique to convince me to buy lots of extra things like air filters, wiper blades, flushes, and other consumables however not absolutely necessary. CCC was quick, ladies were friendly, price was fair for synthetic oil changes, and they did not consistently try to sell me extra services or parts. We have 4 vehicles we have taken there for years. However the last two times I took my primary care in for an oil change, I was told I should consider a new battery and new tires. My Interstate battery is only a couple of years old (consequently taken back to Interstate for a load test and tested OK), my tires are not new but they are not ready to be replaced yet. Right now I am looking for a more convenient no pressure oil change & maintenance place. Car X (who has done many repairs on various vehicles over the years) will change my oil if I bring my own. I'm going to try that next. read more

These people are wonderful. My car was towed to the Car Care Clinic last week after breaking down in a high traffic area nearby. I was pretty distraught when I came in (dead engine, 2-hour wait time for a tow truck...), but the staff at the Clinic took care of me immediately. They checked out my car, offered me a beverage, helped me find a salvage company, and let me store my car on their premises for the weekend. I really love these guys. My husband and I have been seeing them for regular service as well as repairs on the two cars we've owned for nearly five years now. My husband's parents have used the place for many years as well. I may not remember all of the details of the various services we've had done, but here are some highlights: Affordable full service oil changes - they also offer an early bird special in the mornings. Very open and honest about what repairs/replacements are necessary, which is really important to people without much car savvy - people like ourselves. Prices they quote me for parts are as good as or better than I can find on the internet or at other places. The price of the part and labor for a replacement side-mirror was nearly 100 dollars less than we found at the dealer. A battery was just over half the price we found at the competition. Labor charges are also low and they work fast. Extremely pleasant and friendly and communicative staff - the manager, Sandy, is a hoot. Jeff and his team are all great guys. I was visiting Madison and was repairing my brother-in-law's wheelchair. One footrest had fallen off and was badly bent and could not be bolted back into place. I stopped at the Clinic and told them my tale-of-woe, hoping I could borrow a vice for a moment to bend the footrest back into shape. They were so courteous and jumped to my need immediately. Because of insurance reasons, customers are not allowed into the shop. The mechanic took my bent footrest and within five minutes had it bent perfectly back into shape. What a delight! It fit perfectly and now my brother-in-law can use his chair again. And they refused to take any remuneration. There are not enough words to express how thankful I am for this place of business and these people. We were on a one day trip taking a dog to UW-Madison. As we left the university to get some lunch the brakes on our F350 diesel broke. We stopped at a little shop near where it happen and were turned away, with little brakes, and told he couldn't get us in that day. We got the mile or so to Car Care Clinic. To start, they welcomed my husband, myself and our little dog into their waiting area. They pulled our truck around to the back parking lot and jacked it up to see what happen. Shattered caliper. They had an estimate ready in less than 30 minutes and said the work would be done in 2 to 3 hrs. They hosted the three of us in their waiting area all that time. They provided water for our dog and treats. They pointed out restaurants in the areas and even offered for us to bring our food there to eat it. They provided laughs and wonderful conversation. I've been in customer service for over 20 years and this is a rare gem of a group to find. We were made to feel at home and welcome. We never felt like a bother or an inconvenience. They worked us into their day with a smile. They got us fixed and on the road in less than three hours all while doing the work in a parking lot. Keep being you and doing what you do.
