Great food and service. The servers were very inviting and nice. Only complaint is the dining area felt cramped and there was no public bathroom.

Bourbon Slam burger for Owensboro Burger Week
Rhett B.

I discovered Gary's on my hunt for Owensboro Burger Week. I went by twice and they were out of their Bourbon Slam Burger. This is a classic fast food burger place that is really small and I wanted to come back and try. I finally got it the third time though. The Bourbon Slam had pepper jack cheese, bacon jam made with Bourbon and Coke, and slaw on the side. I felt like there wasn't enough jam on the burger. The jam gave it a very subtle sweet heat taste and coupled with the pepper jack cheese and the big fluffy bun, it was a pretty good fast food burger. The hamburger meat was what you would expect from a fast food burger joint. Slaw came on the side and it was vinegar based with light on the vinegar. The slaw did add a little something to the burger but wasn't good enough to eat by itself. The fries were a joke. They were the shoestring fries that you can barely hold. I should have known better and went with tots. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. They also do milkshakes but I passed on it because they are made with soft serve. I prefer milkshakes with hand dipped ice cream. It's a very small place with not much seating or parking. But it was very busy the whole time I was there especially the drive-thru. I wouldn't mind eating here again but I'm not going to go out of my way to eat at Gary's again.

This place is usually great and I'm only giving it three stars because it's normally really good food but today I ordered a corndog and it was burned halfway and that's a shame because I love this place but now I don't know if I'll come back to be honest

Prices and food are good. Hung out here often back in high school. Plenty of options to try, both for meals and desserts.

Average burger joint. Frozen meat patty. Kind of expensive for what it is. $16 for 2 burgers, fries, water, and 1 shake.

Great little greasy spoon. Not the healthiest place, but good every now and then. You have to get the fried pickles!

Good food. Fresh, well made, no complaints there. Expensive though and cash only unless you welcome an additional charge for using a card.

I swear I come to Wonder Whip to order Chili Cheese Fries with a side of burger. It's crazy to me…read morethat I enjoy their chili cheese fries as much as I do. I may just promote this as the new diet trend of 2025. I ordered their jalapeño cheddar burger on this visit and upgraded my combo to a large side and a large drink with an additional upgrade to add chili and cheese to my fries. My order came out quick and the service was absolutely superb as usual. I took my meal to the table and hurriedly opened up my side order and the sight hit me hard. The ultimate order of... Chili...Cheese...Fries. it was a heaping mound of fries with loads of chili and cheese. In approval, I inadvertently exclaimed "yeah" too loud and quickly scoped around to see if anyone might have heard me. If they had, I'd be forced to take the meal to go. A hearty mountain of deliciousness. My mind spun through scenarios on how to take this task on. Hire a Sherpa, get a pickaxe, and a pack mule perhaps? No no no. My food would be cold by the time they arrived. Focus and use what is at hand. The Wonder Whip Angel provided me with a plastic fork like the Lady of the Lake. It came out of my white bag like Excalibur. I should have asked for a second fork in case the first one breaks or wears down. I should've had a contingency plan. Curse me for a fool! But wait. I still had that burger to get through. I hurriedly scarfed it down enjoying every bit of it, but distracted the entire time by the thought of getting to my fries. I made it to the last bite and thanked the burger for giving its nutrients to me. I raised my fork high with my right hand and opened the clam shell with my left. For anyone watching from afar, I'm sure they only saw a small tasmanian devil tornado of activity with arms and legs and chili and fries and cheese whipping about. They'd be surprised to know that amidst that chaos, was a happy man enjoying a great side dish at a terrific value thanks to Wonder Whip. Im full. Now sleep.

I ordered a veggie burger and side salad. We also shared an appetizer, firecracker shrimp. The shrimp was delicious, and my veggie burger was very good with fresh toppings and made to order. My sister got chicken fingers and they forgot to bring the sauce and she told the the inattentive waitress that it was missing and she didn't bring it back until after my sister was done with her food. She only had her and the four construction workers and she couldn't even pay attention to everyone. If I could review the hotel, I would, but the hotel wasn't great either and it's all owned by the same stuff. So there's just management problems everywhere. Save your money and go to other places. The oldies jams are still in play and keeping the vibe upbeat. I've never been in here tearing up because that forbidden broken heart love song came on at the wrong time. I've been doing burgers and shakes and new flavors of ice cream and I'm discovering that chocolate ice cream and its many descendants are quite delicious. For example I beta tested the Kentucky Fudge Pecan Pie in a baby sized cup and found that I love it! I also reaffirmed that I have zero allergic reaction to pecans. Furthermore, I discovered that pie crust bits in ice cream are flipping fantastic and something I will include in my extensive list of things I am thankful for come this November's Turkey holiday. Props to the Ice Cream expert whom I had been told crafts these flavors in house. Is it some kind of Ice Cream elf? Maybe. That doesn't even matter. Who or whatever is making this delicacy is doing a great job at creaming this ice with fantastic flavor and ruining my ability to drop this final 4 lbs I'm trying to shed. Try it out and enjoy this wondrous thing! But be warned... the pecans may contain nuts. UPDATE: I just discovered that they offer TATOR TOTS! It should be known just by looking at me that tater tots are my favorite means of delivering potatoes to my belly. This delivery process is further expedited by spooning steaming hot chili and shredding cheese over it. They've titled an entire movie after how I eat chili cheese tots. "Gone in 60 Seconds". I devoured it voraciously and it disappeared. I don't know how it tasted because it was immediately absorbed once it appeared on the counter. I'm sure i enjoyed it though. Try it yourself and let me know if it is good. I am not reliable in this instance.

One area that could use improvement is accessibility. While I'm not a wheelchair user, I do use a cane, and I found it frustrating to maneuver around the dining room because the tables are placed so close together. I also noticed that the self-service drink station would be difficult, if not impossible, for many wheelchair users to access comfortably. A few changes to the layout would make the restaurant much more welcoming and accessible for people with a variety of mobility needs. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the excellent food and hope to see accessibility improvements in the future.
