Stopped in for dinner Sunday. The three of us enjoyed a Ghetto Lobstah Roll, a Connecticut Lobstah Roll, a Pulled Pork Cheesesteak, clam chowder, southern green beans, southern potato salad, French fries, 6 smoked garlic Parmesan wings and 1/2 rack St Louis style spare ribs. The Lobstah rolls were great! The Ghetto had warmed garlic butter, the Connecticut had warm butter and the Pulled Pork Cheesesteak came loaded with crisped pulled pork and topped with provolone cheese. The ribs came with a slice of grilled sourdough, pickles, sliced onion. We tried all of BBQ sauces and the Carolina Gold was our favorite. Clam chowder was OK but I've had better. Southern green beans and potato salad were quite good. We plan to return to try more BBQ and sea food! read more

First time here after recommendations on the Lakeland Food Facebook group. They have a pretty good menu of bbq, burgers, wings and lobster rolls. We orderedClassic Double Burger, sliced brisket sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. We ordered sides of potato salad and Cole slaw. First things first, this restaurant has brewed unsweet iced tea which already makes it a winner. Yes they have sweet tea also but that's not for us. Any good bbq restaurant must have a tasty lean brisket. The sliced brisket here is lean, moist and flavorful without needing bbq sauce. They have two types of bbq sauce on the table, one a bit sweeter and the other a bit more peppery. Both are tasty. The grilled chicken has a good flavor and it is moist. The burgers are smash burgers so the meat is a bit thinner and crisp around the edges. I enjoyed mine as it comes with cheese, onion and pickle and did not add Mayo or mustard as it really didn't need them. The potato salad seems to be made with a real Mayo and it has bacon in it for a nice taste. Although I prefer my potato salad to be made with more of a miracle whip style Mayo and mustard also. The Cole slaw was Cole slaw. Not bad but nothing to write about...but what do you expect with Cole slaw. You place your order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table. They do have a few tables under cover in front of the restaurant but they were empty as it's Florida in July and ain't nobody got time fir that. Service is friendly and the dining room is nice, clean and cool. Would we return, yes. However Mission BBQ isn't too far away and even though this brisket is good, I'll stick with Mission BBQ for that as they still have the best brisket I've had in Florida to date. We will come back to Gaskins for burgers and grilled chicken and look forward to trying the Lobster Roll. read more

I had both a pulled pork sandwich and a lobster roll, the warm garlic butter variety. I got fries as a side. The pork and the fries I would give a 4 to each of them, the lobster roll gets a 3. Hence my 4 star rating. The service was prompt, pleasant and continuous throughout the meal. A pilot friend recommended this place. I had a hankering for ribs and/or lobster. Walking into the restaurant, we ordered from the customer service counter. No "surf & terf" options, I ordered the lobster roll. Then I saw the double meat option, and just had to have that. I also ordered the baked beans and cole slaw. We sat outside to dine. Our orders were brought to our table. The double meat lobster roll was incredible! And at $33, it was totally worth it. Gaskin's is good food for a quick service BBQ joint, but do not expect any type of service. The staff was particularly unwelcoming, when we arrived there was one table sitting eating so they were not busy at all, no one greets you, your order gets rushed with the cashier continually saying "is that it", nope we are a party of 5, that is absolutely not it, when they brought our food to the table I tried to explain that one of the burgers was not what we ordered and the gentleman just walked away, no care in the world and did not exchange it for what we did order (so my son just ate it, he is a teen boy and will probably eat anything; however I believe you should get what you pay for, in this case we did not) Now for the food, the pulled pork is what you would expect from quick service BBQ not bursting with flavor, but good....the mac and cheese is creamy, burgers were a smash style burger, cooked perfectly, the green beans had an off putting flavor almost sour tasting, their peach BBQ sauce is amazing, worth buying a bottle to bring home, the banana pudding was good, baked beans were too watery for our liking, grilled cheese perfectly cheesy! Their sweet tea is true southern sweet which is always perfect with any BBQ meal. read more

As good as we remembered from our experiences at their York, ME restaurant. I wanted to make sure I had my fill so went back for a 2nd. I knew I should have just ordered the "Monstah" Roll, which is double lobster meat. I enjoyed both of my Connecticut rolls and baked beans, could have skipped the French fries. I would estimate the lobster rolls to have 6oz of perfectly cooked lobster. None of it was overcooked, aka chewy. Served with lemon and melted butter. The baked beans have pieces of bbq meat and the sauce has a slight heat/spiciness. They offered small cups of ice cream for free...just ask. The fries I would describe as light and crispy and had sort of a coating, whether actual or from fryer, I'm not sure. I wasn't a fan I prefer a more purer French fry. I've never had their bbq but I think they have some of the best seafood. (Note to Gaskins please come back to the York, ME area. Lots of us miss you there.) read more

I moved to Florida 40+ years ago as a New England transplant. This summer my quest is to find the best lobster roll somewhere in Florida. Today was our 4th try. Not sure if we are going to continue the quest, because I think we have found the best. First, after eating todays roll, I realized was that all the other rolls were made with previously frozen lobster meat. Today's roll was dramatically different. It was so fresh, it tasted like the ocean. Lots of sweet chunky meat! And, by far, it was the least expensive. $17.99! Add 2 sides or a side and a drink for $4.00. The BBQ looked great, too. Decided it was time to compare their bbq to other favorites. I went shortly after 11 am on a weekday. It's windows are dark so it always looks closed. Was not greeted but ordered pulled pork sandwich & baked beans. (order at the counter, grab your own utensils, food served at seat style). The over-packed sandwich arrived on a fresh bun, as a mixture of shredded pork & chewy bark, a less pleasant drier "chew" than other local joints and no particular flavor. It said with cider vinegar sauce, of which there was a dab. There are 2 thick sauces tableside-one sweet & one heat (not bad but not the usual "runny" style or flavor of a cider sauce). Unfortunately I got a 1 cm x 1 cm block of bone that was off-putting in that sandwich & never had that in any sandwich before. The warm baked beans were good-smoky, flavorful & delicious (would've like a lot more of the juice strained off tho). The sandwich with 1 side was about $11, the drink brought the bill to $15. The sign outside said it was a daily special & the counter clerk implied the drink was included but apparently daily specials are at menu price and nothing special about the recognition (does that mean it's old and they want to get rid of it?) Ambiance? none really. Place was dark, cement floor was patchy, sauce containers sticky from prior use. Left with my own sticky fingers, not seeing any wet wipes. Came with a pal in a wheelchair and there are no accessible curb cuts near this restaurant. Had to walk several blocks up, cross at the theatre and walk 3 restaurants back down to get in the heavy door. Would be nice for the mall to fix those features. It appears lobster is where it's at in this location and not being a seafood fan, this may have been a one and done for me. read more

I got the lobster special of the day and the Gheto did not disappoint. Loved that I got to cleanse the pallet with some soft serve vanilla ice cream after my meal. Businesses that close earlier than hours posted online are sad and a huge disappointment! If the leadership can't update hours on social media sites and free marketing places then they obviously have gone down hill with service and quality by not being able to keep the doors open past 8pm on a weekend! It's very hard to trust a restaurant who closes at 8pm, although hours posted online say 9pm on a Saturday night, when peak serving hours for restaurants statistically are between 7 and 8pm nightly! read more

My brother had the fish and shrimp and the portion was alright and the food didn't have much flavor. I and my friend got the ribs and the portions were quite small compared to the price. 1/4 of a rack is not much, but my friend was given three small ribs for his order. He thought something must be wrong and asked if this is a normal portion, the waitress said unfortunately it is. The ribs were alright and the brisket was kinda dry. Sides are okay at best and the best thing here is the free ice cream on the way out. Also the vibes were off and the staff seemed like they don't want to be here. read more

First time here today. I'm a bit of a fried clam snob. The clams here are amazing. It was a sizeable amount of mouthwatering delight. Not chewy at all. Lightly breaded & lightly fried. The coleslaw & potato salad as sides. I've been to Maine numerous times. These clams were equivalent. Next time it's the lobster role. We will definitely return. read more

I, like most people in Polk County, found this place very recently, and at the perfect time to try their Monday Lobstah Roll deal. I don't know how long this special will run, but I hope it is forever. We contacted the restaurant to ensure that their rolls were only lobster meat before we went (lots of places here tend to use fish or crab to cut the cost) and they ensured it was 100% lobster meat every time. Spectacular (for taste and for fish allergy)! My husband had the Maine and I had the Connecticut and we split each. Our friends had the Ghetto and the Smoky. Every one of us were drooling for more. First of all, banana pudding as a side? Iconic, and also better than we expected. The fries are like Burger King(which I love). And ice cream when you dine in? Honestly, I'm gonna start coming every week, I will become family to them, and I'll invite myself to their holiday parties. 10/10 recommend, please come here so that I never have to go without a delicious warm lobster roll with a nice buttery bun. read more

Ohhh boy! Lobsta Rolls!!! I had super high hopes for Gaskin's and all in all, they hit on all cylinders. I'll get this out of the way first, they are pricey but hey, we are talking about lobster. And they give you free ice cream. That aside as a minor drawback to some, I love this place! I've tried the Ghetto Roll, the Smoked Roll the Double Smash Burger and the Surf n' Turf Smash which was by far my favorite. The rolls are incredible! The Ghetto has so much garlicky butter goodness and the Smoked has, well a lot of Smokey flavor! The portions are fairly generous but a lobster roll is still just a few bites so on my first visit I also grabbed a double smash. What a simple but amazing burger. Down to basics which makes a smash so good. The next trip I just went all in with the Surf n' Turf. It's exactly what you think, the double smash with the same amount of lobster and garlic butter as a roll and for only $24.95! Most rolls are over $20 so this was a great deal and my new go to. The sides are great too. The best by far are the sweet potato waffle fries with marshmallow sauce. Pro tip, ask for it on the side so you can dip. Regular fries are fine and the coleslaw was pretty standard. Now I know I said I only had one minor drawback but as I was writing I remember I did try the brisket once since they do offer BBQ. It wasn't very good. And the BBQ sauces weren't anything special either. Sorry. Stick with the good stuff, Lobsta and Burgers!!! Please give these folks a try soon! read more

We stopped by this place not knowing what it is and we loved it. The staff including the cook are all very friendly. My wife and both got the brisket grilled cheese wow. Got a side of banana pudding and they will give you a small cup of free ice cream as well. The place is very clean with a cool vibe. We want to go back again and try something different on the menu. I did not not a picture of the grilled cheese because I was hungry and immediately picked up the sandwich haha. Maybe next time I will take a nice picture. read more

I ordered at the wrong location and called the Lakeland location that I made a mistake. Decided to drive 30 min out of the way to get my food and asked if they could please keep the food warm. Needless to say I got there and asked for fresh fries, was denied fresh fried and the rolls were cold, -$50 bucks for 2 rolls the least they could have done. Oh and no spoon or fork. Where do I start!!!! We got the smoked lobster roll which is normally served chilled but we requested it warm and it was delicious, it had large lobster pieces in a perfectly toasted brioche roll. We also ordered the brisket grilled cheese and it was the BEST brisket sandwich I've ever had, it was served on grilled sourdough which was so tasty. The sweet bbq was good but for me the spicy bbq stole the show even though you didn't really need much because the brisket was perfect. Don't forget the sweet tea and FREE ice cream! read more
