Dr Mayer explained the procedure and what might happen based on what he might find during the procedure. The anesthesiologist started the medication through my IV. Before he injected all the meds, I was out! 30 mins later I was awake and Dr Mayer explained how the procedure went. Within minutes after waking up I felt great w very little effects of the anesthesia and walked out and headed home. I highly recommend Dr Mayer and his staff!! Now, that I am back and have had time to fully process my experience, I'm really happy with the care and expertise of Dr. Q and his staff. He is somewhat of a reserved gentlemen but has the most experience at this facility. Depending on who you ask he is also the one who perfected the technique that is primarily used at Pompeii Surgical. Although, I made sure to do a deep dive into every aspect of the surgery, (I did 2 1/2 months of training/ learning). He fully explain the procedure and even drew a diagram to make sure that I was comfortable with what was going to happen. Now, let's talk about the obvious. For most people who come down to use this facility and take advantage of the procedures for a fraction of the cost. the fact that it's in Tijuana, Mexico makes people hesitant and even scared. The false ideals of cartel problems or even dangerous activities that are assumed to happen, is a non factor. I highly recommend this place for a high quality medical experience and for anyone that has to pay out of pocket for bariatric surgery. I have read horror stories about being forced to jump through hoops for insurance companies. To fight for financing and their required qualification period to be approved. at the time of this review the cost was $5300 cash or specialized check. That covered everything but airfare. Unfortunately, as of March 1st, 2022, the price has gone up to $5800. But it's still cheaper than paying in the states and in my opinion, Worth every penny!! It's Unbelievable care at a world class facility. I will tell you that this facility and all those that work here from the: surgeons, assistants and nurses are phenomenal. I also want to mention how fantastic the care coordinators and even the drivers- are professionals of the highest caliber. The facility is incredibly clean and modernized. If you are reading this, you are probably in need of a medical professional. I mean, nobody reads these for fun right? Six months ago I was taken to the ER . At 11 pm nurses came into my room to tell me I was going downstairs for emergency surgery and they would contact my wife. When I woke up next morning I had a hole in me as big as a coffee cup saucer. I also had colostomy bag attached to my waist. The surgeon that did the surgery on me, from what I understand now, probably saved my life. When the surgeon came in the next morning, he told me how close I was. He also assured me the colostomy bag "WOULD BE" reversable after the gapping hole closed up. After the hole closed, my home care WONDERFUL nurse Diane, began reaching out to the doctor. The same doctor WHO: rescued me that night from sepsis. Attached the Colostomy bag. And then assured me "IF," a reversal could be done," HE" would be the guy to do it. CRICKETS. NOTHING. Dianes calls. My wife calls. MY CALLS. No call back. When we gave up on that doctor we went to a couple other docs who did exact same reversal. Things got real very quik. One doctor would not call us back and two other doctors selling gloom and doom that went along with the "DIFFICULTY'' of my procedure. My wife and I were afraid I'D have to live with this thing for the rest of OUR lives. Then we heard of Doc Schultzel. We heard about the robotic surgery he did. We had to try. When we met him, it was amazing. Finally !! someone was optimistic. He wouldn't make any guarantees but for our conversation it was clear this was gonna be our guy. The other doctors focused on how bad my situation was. DocSchultzel focused on the positive. We really believe the other Drs a little overwhelmed with what was left for them to workwith. Not Dr Shultzel. I probably don't need to say how amazing of a doctor he is., All you have to do is read his reviews ! What's just as important is his supporting cast starting with Emily! Emily, my wife and I will never be able to thank you enough.!! We love you, kiddo! These people are so on top of their game it is mind blowing! They are like a well oiled machine.
