The plates are on a smaller size, so if you have a big appetite you will have to order quite a bit, however, every single item was a hit. Each dish is creative, with perfectly combined flavors, nicely balanced, textures on point, and the presentations are stunning. A work of art comes to your table every time. It's difficult to suggest individual dishes because I can say that everything is fabulous but the Ceviche was something supernatural. Don't forget the cocktails! They are another experience in themselves. Same standard of beautiful presentation and great flavor combinations to choose from. This hidden spot deserves more recognition than it has. We guessed many options around the Prado area might be tourist traps. Fortunately, this didn't appear to be one of them as it's a taberna that attracts local regulars as well as tourists like us. The manager/owner looked to know quite a few customers. It was pretty busy, so we were seated at a hi-top table in the bar area next to other non-Spanish, English-speaking customers. There were many small-to-medium tapa plates to consider in their menu. We weren't looking to stuff ourselves, so we ordered the 6,9€ half-order of Chiporones à la Plancha, which was grilled baby squids nestled on a mixed salad drizzled with balsamic (Photo 10). Our second dish was the 6,1€ half-order of Parrillada Verdu. It was a simple but satisfying grilled vegetable platter of sliced tomato,, onion, and root veggies (Photo 9). The last dish we ordered was an unexpected taste of home, the 9,9€ Ensalada Cesar. The reason for the higher price point was the addition of chicken and bacon to the lettuce, tomato, cheese, croutons, and Caesar dressing (Photo 8). The combination was pretty hearty and familiar-tasting. Even though we probably ate enough for a mid-afternoon meal, I couldn't help but inquire about the availability of grilled octopus (pulpo) because we saw it look quite tempting on a neighboring table. The space is rather deep and essentially occupies the first floors of two adjoining townhouses. Deceptively large since upon entering you walk backwards thru the restaurant but u-turning right and walking back towards the front of the building, there is an equally long space with tables lining both sides of the wall and a larger open seating area by the front windows of the restaurant. Service was polished and super professional. The atmosphere was a bit on the more formal side and most men wore sports jackets. Being a seafood restaurant, the menu had an extensive list of options, including both oven-finished and fire-top grilled items. We ordered as appetizers: a plate of Iberico ham, fried white anchovies with roasted red peppers, sea bass and scarlet prawn ceviche. For mains: grilled cuttlefish, baked hake, grilled sole. For dessert we split one item: (we were stuffed by then!): brioche French toast with a scoop of ice cream. We had a bottle of white wine recommended by the restaurant and it paired well with the food. The servings were very generous--and all was cooked well. The olives they served on the side before the meal were delectable. The fried anchovies were a bit difficult for me to eat since they were fried pretty much so you could eat bones and all, but I couldn't help being a bit paranoid about some of the slightly larger bones, but the amazing-ness of the squid ...oops, CUTTLEFISH... alone would bring me back here in an instant.
