    Black rice

I was insisting on molecular gastronomy, but my husband refused, saying it was too expensive. I think he tried to shut me up by suggesting this place, as I was fooled by the 'gastro" part of the name. Nevertheless, I was not disappointed with dinner here. It was a solid meal. We started off with the tuna tartar (which was amazing; the potato curls were a nice touch), octopus with potato foam (the potato foam was really interesting - not like cream of potato soup, not mashed potatoes.. but like a marriage between the two) and the fried eggs with truffle (which my husband loved). We topped the meal off with the black rice, which was really well done. By the end, we were stuffed. Our meal came out at a nice pace, and everything was well presented and tasted great. Excellent service; menu available in English, and the staff are fluent in English as well. Free wifi available. Reservations recommended.

My wife and I visited Gastromaquia for lunch and tried the Bluefin Tuna, Grilled Goat Cheese, and Fried Eggs. The tuna was fresh and tender and topped with sweet mango, tomatoes, pomegranates, onions, airy rice noodles, and sriracha mayo. The goat cheese was creamy and topped with honey and a basil pesto sauce. The salty and yolky fried eggs sat on a bed of savory potatoes and were topped with diced bacon and scallions. Overall, Gastromaquia is a solid spot for lunch.

    Wine.

We just showed up at 8pm for dinner and they were able to seat us right away tucked back in a romantic corner. We ordered a bottle of wine, the tuna plate and octopus with potato foam. The waiter was really kind to us even though we barely speak Spanish. The wine was okay but the two plates were amazing. I loved that octopus with potato foam it reminded me of bacon and grits (an American southern classic). It was rich and smoky. The tuna was also really amazing cooked to perfection and topped with amazing textured items. I really recommend you stop in for a meal.

There is no terrace seating and inside you will find a lively modern decor. It's a bit loud, but nevertheless that doesn't take away from the dining experience. The service was excellent, attentive, and fast. The food was exquisite. We had the ceviche to start. It was packed with fish, some fried calamari, and a couple large prawns. It was fresh and flavorful. Then we had mushroom and truffle risotto. This dish was amazing, flavorful, and not overdone with the truffles. Our mains were the lasagna, which was shredded meat between two hard tortillas. I'm not sure if I lost it in the translation, but it was no where close to any lasagna I've ever seen. However, it was excellent, I would expect to find this one at a Mexican restaurant. Last, we had the tataki de ciero. This was like a tuna tataki you might find at a Japanese restaurant but it was with venison. This was a true delight! I've had venison in many different settings and this one was among the best. Overall, this was a wonderful culinary experience.

Bit more expensive than a general Spanish tapas restaurant but absolutely worth it! Friendly staff, delicious food 5 stars

One of the best meals EVER! The Octopus was amazing, unlike anything else I've tasted. The tuna tartare was also delicious.

This is a veryyyy small cafe/breakfast spot. Make sure to get reservations or go at a not busy time…read morein order to get a seat. There were probably only 20 or so in the whole place. What I ordered: I got the toast with tomato spread, a cappuccino, and the chocolate cake. For the toast, they have two vintage toasters sitting on the main table so you can toast it yourself. This is cute, until you aren't the one at the main table so you have to reach over other people to toast your breakfast. The cake was a perfect amount of density and moisture; although, I would probably get a different flavor if I could do it over. A lot of people do chocolate cake a lot better than this. I do appreciate that they have all the cakes on a table and cut it right in front of you. Would I go back to this place? Honestly no because my experience wasn't overwhelmingly great and I think I could do better at other cafes nearby, but the quality of food here is simply top-notch.

If you are getting tired of the heavy meals in Madrid, then Olivia Te Cuida is your spot. Healthy…read moreand quite varied, I would highly recommend a lunch here! Be sure to make a reservation because the restaurant is quaint--besides a communal table that seats around ten, I think I only saw a small bar space and two individual tables. The decor is modern, simple yet funky and homey, and the tables in front of the windows are beautiful! The menu includes several options where you can pick the number of side dishes and entree, so you can completely design your meal around your appetite. The ingredients tasted super fresh, and we especially loved the salads we tried! My friend was a little disappointed that his ceviche portion was so small, but it tasted great, and I loved the Asian-inspired chicken. Service was also pretty good, by Madrid standards. On my next visit to Madrid, I will be back to try the breakfast and baked goods :)
